Abstract

Early Childhood Education (PAUD) plays a crucial role in the early stages of a child's development, both cognitively, emotionally, and socially. Between the ages of 5 and 6, children enter a developmental phase where they begin to differentiate between desirable and undesirable behaviors, as well as understand simple rules, share, and empathize (Sulaiman et al., 2021). Social Cognitive Development is a child's ability to understand, process, and respond to social relationships around them (Ningsih, 2023). In early childhood, this capability encompasses various aspects, such as sharing, empathy, cooperation, and understanding rules. The study employed a quantitative approach with the Single Subject Design (SSD) method, specifically the Multiple Baseline Across Subjects model, consisting of a baseline phase and an intervention phase. The study was conducted at KYOMOON GRACE Kindergarten. The study subjects were 5 children who were most in need of social cognitive development based on initial observations and a pre-test. The subjects were selected based on their age, aged 5 and 6 years, and who needed social cognitive development. Data collection techniques included pre-tests and post-tests, observation rubrics, and interviews. The media used was a picture storybook. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive analysis to assess the feasibility of the picture storybook, practicality testing, and intervention outcomes. The results showed that the picture storybook product received a score of 95%. For the five research subjects, the cognitive guidance model using picture storybooks was considered highly effective, with a percentage of non-overlapping data. The average pre-test to post-test score increased from 56.8 to 114.0. This study also showed that the highest increase occurred in the Sharing/Taking Turns indicator. Thus, the development of a cognitive guidance model using picture storybooks helps develop social cognitive skills in children aged 5-6 years.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of democratic-participatory leadership by female principals in improving the quality of vocational secondary education in Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung Province, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative multi-site case study design, the research was conducted at two public vocational high schools led by female principals: SMK Negeri 1 Penawar Tama and SMK Negeri 1 Banjar Margo. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis involving principals, vice principals, teachers, administrative staff, and school stakeholders. The findings indicate that democratic-participatory leadership is characterized by inclusive decision-making, open communication, collaborative problem-solving, and stakeholder involvement in school governance. Leadership effectiveness is strengthened by interpersonal trust, professional collaboration, and organizational support, while challenges arise from uneven teacher participation, disciplinary issues, administrative demands, and gender-related expectations. The study further reveals that participatory leadership contributes to teacher professionalism, organizational cohesion, stakeholder engagement, and the effectiveness of school improvement initiatives. The findings suggest that female principals enhance educational quality by transforming participation into a strategic resource that strengthens collective responsibility, organizational adaptability, and sustainable institutional development within vocational education settings.

Abstract

Analyzing the regulatory urgency and determining the composition of technology-adaptive material content constitute the objectives of this research. The study applies a normative juridical method, supported by a statutory and conceptual framework. The research results show that: 1) The establishment of a national Auction Law is urgently needed to address the dualism of regulations. Currently, the main basis for auctions is the Vendu Reglement, a Dutch colonial legacy regulation that regulates general sales procedures and has been in effect since April 1, 1908. Hierarchically, the Vendu Reglement has the same status as a Law based on the Transitional Provisions of the 1945 Constitution. Conflicts arise because online auction procedures are only regulated at the level of the Minister of Finance Regulation, which is hierarchically lower, so that based on the principle of Lex superior derogat legi inferiori, the regulation is vulnerable to being revoked because it is considered to deviate from the physical obligations in the Vendu Reglement. 2) National codification is needed as a basis for legal certainty and protection for Auction Officials. The formulation of the material must include a redefinition of “reading” minutes digitally, the legality of electronic signatures that are equivalent to authentic deeds, and limitations on officials’ responsibility for electronic system failures.

Abstract

The digital transformation of learning in Indonesian elementary schools has encouraged the use of Interactive Flat Panels as interactive instructional media. However, the role of this technology in improving students’ digital literacy has not been adequately explained in the existing literature. This article aims to analyze the patterns of Interactive Flat Panel use in elementary schools, identify its impact on learning processes and outcomes, and explain its implications for strengthening students’ digital literacy. This study employs a narrative literature review with thematic synthesis of fourteen core papers covering empirical studies, review studies, elementary digital literacy studies, and conceptual papers on interactive boards. The findings show that the use of Interactive Flat Panels most consistently contributes to increased motivation, engagement, collaboration, and conceptual understanding through visualization, simulation, interactive quizzes, and touchscreen interaction. However, evidence of their direct contribution to improving digital literacy remains limited, as most studies have not specifically measured digital literacy dimensions. The strongest academic contribution of Interactive Flat Panels lies in their function as a pedagogical medium that can support information literacy, media literacy, technical skills, and digital collaboration when integrated through interactive, reflective, and formative assessment-based learning design. Their effectiveness depends on teachers’ TPACK competence, digital content readiness, infrastructure support, and a school culture that encourages innovation. This article emphasizes that strengthening elementary students’ digital literacy through Interactive Flat Panels requires a shift from presentational use toward participatory pedagogical use.

Abstract

The use of less diverse and teacher-centered teaching methods frequently explains students' poor learning outcomes concerning Indonesian cultural diversity in primary education. This research seeks to ascertain how fourth-grade pupils at SD Negeri 141 Pekanbaru acquire knowledge through the Project Based Learning (PjBL) approach. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The 35 students in the research sample were divided into two groups: the experimental class, which had 17 students utilising the PjBL methodology, and the control class, which had 18 students using conventional teaching methods. Pretests and posttests that assessed cognitive learning outcomes were used to collect data. An independent samples t-test was used to analyse the data after the completion of the required tests for homogeneity and normality. According to the study, the experimental group's average posttest score was 83.82, significantly higher than the control group's score of 58.89. The results of the hypothesis test showed that Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected, with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 being less than 0.05. The research finds that the Project Based Learning (PjBL) approach greatly improves student learning results. This approach has successfully improved student involvement and understanding of academics via hands-on project tasks.

Abstract

Regulatory duality in the governance of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) is a strategic issue in the Indonesian education system, as it involves two policy authorities with differing institutional orientations: the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). This situation gives rise to a polycentric governance pattern characterized by multi-actor, multi-regulatory, and multi-level governance in madrasah education management. This article aims to critically analyze the problem of regulatory duality, the dynamics of MTs polycentric governance, and the challenges of synchronizing national and religious education policies within the context of 21st-century educational transformation. Employing a conceptual paper approach based on a systematic literature review of reputable international and national journal articles (2020–2026), educational policy documents, and literature on governance, educational policy, and Islamic education management, this study utilizes critical policy analysis and inter-literature dialogue. The analysis identifies points of regulatory tension, authority fragmentation, and opportunities for reconstructing a more integrative madrasah governance model. The findings indicate that regulatory duality causes policy implementation asynchrony in curriculum, assessment, teacher management, education digitalization, data governance, and institutional accountability mechanisms. Consequently, MTs occupy an ambivalent position between the demands of national educational standardization and the strengthening of Islamic educational identity, generating administrative burdens, policy interpretation conflicts, and governance capacity disparities. The study reveals that hierarchical bureaucratic approaches are no longer adequate to address the complexities of contemporary madrasah education governance. Therefore, a collaborative polycentric governance model is required, positioning regulatory synchronization, data system integration, adaptive leadership, and multi-stakeholder participation as the primary foundation for MTs governance reform. The primary contribution of this article lies in developing a conceptual framework for polycentric madrasah education governance based on cross-ministerial policy integration. This study expands the discourse on Islamic education governance in Indonesia by integrating institutional theory, network governance, and the political economy of education to explain madrasah policy dynamics. The implications emphasize the necessity of reforming the national education regulatory architecture so that madrasahs are no longer positioned as peripheral administrative entities, but as an integral part of an adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable public education system.

Abstract

This article examines the implementation of a sign-of-movement system as a dance learning medium for deaf children involved in the performance of Hyang Lala Nusantara Dance at Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park, Jimbaran, Bali. Hyang Lala Nusantara Dance is a large-scale cultural tourism performance that integrates various Indonesian traditional dances and involves children with special needs, particularly deaf children, alongside non-disabled dancers within a shared performance setting. This study focuses on three main aspects: (1) the design and implementation of the sign-of-movement system in the dance learning process for deaf children; (2) the effectiveness of the system in supporting participants’ engagement during live performances; and (3) the inclusive pedagogical values embedded in the learning and performance practices. This research employs a qualitative approach using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies as data collection techniques. The findings reveal that the sign-of-movement system developed by I Wayan Suatra Negara and I Ketut Alit Putra Wijaya represents an innovative pedagogical approach that bridges communication barriers in dance education. The implementation of this system has proven effective in assisting deaf children in understanding, memorizing, and performing choreographic sequences in a structured manner, thereby enabling their active participation in large-scale public performances. These findings indicate that the sign-of-movement system contributes significantly to the development of inclusive, adaptive, and empowering arts education models for learners with special needs in Indonesia.

Abstract

Indonesian elections are formally democratic yet empirically shaped by informal practices. Among the most persistent undertheorized actors is the botoh. Existing literature treats botoh as transactional vote buyers within clientelism frameworks. This article argues that botoh constitute a shadow electoral infrastructure a durable, patterned informal institutional arrangement that systematically organizes electoral competition. Employing a qualitative synthesis of empirical case studies from multiple Indonesian local elections (Tulungagung, Lamongan, Blitar, Kudus, Banjarnegara, Pamekasan, Rembang, and Central Kalimantan), the analysis reveals that botoh perform three core functions mass mobilization, vote-buying coordination, and propaganda activism through hierarchical, socially embedded networks spanning the entire electoral cycle. Three systemic patterns emerge: standardization of practices across regions, recurrence across election cycles, and candidate dependence on botoh as essential infrastructure. Drawing on informal institutions theory, brokerage, and embeddedness, the concept of shadow electoral infrastructure shifts analysis from actor-level explanations of vote buying to system-level understanding of how elections are organized under weak formal institutionalization. Botoh are not pathologies of democracy but constitutive features of how Indonesian elections actually work.

Abstract

Digital transformation in the management of education funds is a strategic priority for the Indonesian government to increase the effectiveness of the 2026 Education Unit Operational Assistance Fund (BOSP). The implementation of the School Activity Plan and Budget Application (ARKAS) strengthens administrative efficiency, transparency of financial statements, and public accountability. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design, supported by systematic literature studies from national journals Sinta 1–3 and international journals for the period 2020–2026. The results of the study show that ARKAS' digital transformation, public accountability, and human resource capacity have a significant effect on the effectiveness of the management of the BOSP Fund, strengthening transparency, community participation, and equitable access to quality education. This research confirms that the success of education digitalization does not only depend on technology, but also on transparent public governance and competent human resources.

Abstract

Islamic Education plays a vital role not only in shaping the spiritual character of students but also in internalizing the values of environmental responsibility through the concept of Ecological Islam. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the understanding of Ecological Islam concepts and the ecological literacy of undergraduate students in addressing environmental issues. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design was employed. The research sample consisted of 219 students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Universitas PGRI Banyuwangi, selected using a stratified cluster sampling technique. Data were collected through the documentation of Islamic Education course grades to measure the understanding of Ecological Islam, alongside an adapted version of the Middle School Environmental Literacy Survey (MSELS) instrument to assess ecological literacy. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s Product-Moment correlation. The results demonstrated that: (1) students' ecological literacy was in the moderate category (87.21% of students, = 62,20); (2) students' understanding of Ecological Islam was in the high category (67.58% of students, = 84,38); and (3) there was a significant and very strong positive relationship between the understanding of Ecological Islam and students' ecological literacy (=0,977, p(two-tailed) <0,01). These findings demonstrate that a robust theological-ecological understanding significantly contributes to enhancing environmental awareness. Consequently, lecturers and curriculum designers are encouraged to continuously and sustainably integrate global environmental issues into Islamic Education learning.
