Abstract

The development of digital platforms has helped to reshape the learning, communication, entertainment, and social relations environment of adolescent students. In this context, digital attention is more proportionate to be understood not only through screen duration or device use settings, but also through media usage habits, social-pedagogical relationships, norms of technology use, and platform design and incentives as part of the student's digital environment. This article aims to compile a conceptual analysis of the relationship between the ecology of digital attention, adolescent self-regulation, and character education in the platform era. Using a conceptual study based on directed narrative literature, this article proposes "the ecology of digital attention" as a conceptual working term and an analytical construct for reading students' attention relationally in a digital environment. Conceptually, digital self-regulation can be understood as a capacity of relational character that includes: 1) goal setting; 2) impulse management; 3) attention management; 4) monitoring of digital habits; 5) reflection on consequences, and 6) digital responsibility. In this position, character education can provide space for reflection on digital use, responsible habituation, attention management, and the development of practical wisdom in students' digital lives. This article is not intended to test empirical relationships, evaluate policies, or assess specific programs.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of documentary films as instructional media in history education by examining their pedagogical contributions, the challenges encountered during implementation, and their implications for improving the quality of history learning. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Purposive sampling was used to select one history teacher and six Grade XI students at SMAN Model Terpadu Madani Palu who had direct experience with documentary film-based instruction. The findings reveal that documentary films significantly enhanced students’ learning motivation, classroom participation, concentration, and understanding of historical concepts by providing authentic visual representations that facilitated comprehension of historical chronology and context. The integration of documentary films also promoted a more interactive and student-centered learning environment through reflective classroom discussions. Nevertheless, several implementation challenges were identified, including limited instructional facilities, unstable internet connectivity, classroom noise, and the lengthy duration of documentary films, all of which affected instructional effectiveness. These findings suggest that documentary films represent an effective pedagogical tool for history education by fostering meaningful learning experiences and strengthening students’ cognitive engagement with historical content. The study further highlights the importance of adequate technological infrastructure and careful instructional planning to optimize the integration of documentary films into history teaching.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ creativity in STEAM learning through a pop-up book project based on the Engineering Design Process (EDP) in mathematics education, as viewed from the aspects of originality, flexibility, and elaboration. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of three ninth-grade students selected using purposive sampling and grouped into high, medium, and low categories based on previous assessment results and analyzed in depth. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and product analysis. The research data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, as well as drawing conclusions and verification. The results of the study indicate that STEAM learning integrated with the EDP stages provides meaningful learning experiences through various activities and supports the development of students’ creativity. High-performing students demonstrated better abilities in originality, flexibility, and elaboration compared to students in other categories. Moderate-performing students showed fairly good creativity but still tended to adopt existing ideas or concepts. Meanwhile, low-performing students showed limitations in generating original ideas, adapting designs, and developing products in detail. The research findings indicate that the Ask and Imagine stages support idea exploration, the Plan and Create stages encourage design adjustments when facing obstacles, and the Improve stage provides students with the opportunity to reflect on and refine their pop-up books. Overall, the STEAM based pop-up book project supports the application of mathematical concepts through the creation of tangible products while fostering creativity through the integration of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Abstract

This study applies data mining techniques, particularly K-Means Clustering, to segment the financial performance of publicly listed companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Secondary data covering 967 issuers with four key financial variables including Current Ratio, EBIT Margin, Leverage Ratio, and Debt-to-Equity Ratio were sourced from the FY2024 financial database. After data cleaning and outlier removal using Z-score method, 650 valid observations were obtained. Optimal cluster determination using the Elbow and Silhouette methods yielded k=4 as the optimal value with a Silhouette Score of 0.4527. The analysis groups issuers into four clusters: (1) Liquid-Conservative Cluster (n=54) with very high current ratio and low leverage, (2) Moderate-Healthy Cluster (n=454) with balanced financial profile, (3) High-Leverage Cluster (n=131) with dominant debt ratios, and (4) Distress Cluster (n=11) with highly negative EBIT Margin. ANOVA tests confirm significant differences across clusters on all variables (p<0.001). These findings provide practical implications for investors in portfolio diversification strategies and for regulators in monitoring systemic risk in Indonesia's capital market.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the gap between the planned and actual implementation of an integrated thematic learning model in science instruction and its implications for students' metacognitive abilities. The study was conducted at MI Mambaul Ulum involving teachers and students participating in integrated thematic science learning. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through classroom observations, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that teachers planned instruction using the Shared Model, which regularly integrates related concepts. However, classroom implementation tends to shift toward the Networked Model, allowing greater flexibility and collaboration. This discrepancy was influenced by time constraints, variations in students' learning abilities, and the demands of differentiated instruction. As a result, students demonstrated limited metacognitive abilities, particularly in regulating and reflecting on their own learning processes. Unlike previous studies that primarily focus on the effectiveness of integrated thematic learning models, this study highlights the discrepancy between instructional planning and classroom implementation and demonstrates its implications for students' metacognitive development. These findings underscore the importance of aligning instructional design with classroom practice and consistently integrating metacognitive strategies to foster students' reflective, critical, and independent thinking.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of apology message type and source credibility on organizational reputation during a public sector crisis. Using Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) and source credibility theory, a 2 × 2 between-subjects experiment was conducted with 160 Generation Z participants in West Java. Participants were exposed to simulated crisis scenarios involving a mass food poisoning incident in Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meal (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) program. Data were analyzed using Two-Way ANOVA. The findings show that apology message type did not significantly affect organizational reputation (F(1,156) = 1.284, p = 0.259). However, source credibility had a significant effect (F(1,156) = 8.580, p = 0.004, ηp² = 0.052), with official government sources producing more favorable reputation evaluations than influencers. No significant interaction effect was found between apology message type and source credibility (F(1,156) = 0.120, p = 0.730). Additional analyses suggest that participants’ prior attitudes toward the MBG program may also influence reputation assessments. The results indicate that, in public sector crises involving public safety concerns, source credibility is more influential than message variation in shaping organizational reputation. The study contributes to crisis communication research and offers practical implications for government institutions seeking to maintain public trust during crises. Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Arabic language learning models within the Kulliyyatul Mu'allimin Al-Islamiyyah (KMI) Gontor curriculum and to measure its effectiveness in improving students' Arabic competence at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Campus 11 Ittihadul Ummah Poso. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and direct observation, the findings reveal four key points: (1) the KMI curriculum implementation aligns with Central KMI Gontor standards through consistent coordination; (2) teachers are required to prepare verified lesson plans (i'dad) prior to instruction; (3) a strong synergy exists between the KMI and the Language Advisory Council (LAC) in building a comprehensive language environment (bi'ah lughawiyyah), encompassing the Ilko Mufradat, Muhadatsah, Barnamij Lughah, and Jasus programs; and (4) the learning model effectively enhances students' Arabic competence across vocabulary mastery, grammatical comprehension, and active communication skills. This effectiveness is supported by an academically-based student classification system, a total immersion approach, and diverse structured language programs.

Abstract

Learning in elementary school is still often focused on cognitive aspects with a teacher-centered process and rarely connects the material to students' real-life context, so students' social and cultural skills tend to not develop optimally. This study aims to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by Pop-Up Book media on elementary students’ socio-cultural skills and compare its effectiveness with the Cooperative Learning model. Using a quasi-experimental design with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, the research population comprised all fourth-grade students at SDN Karang Asih 08, Bekasi Regency. Purposive sampling selected 30 students for the experimental class (CTL with Pop-Up Books) and 28 for the control class (Cooperative Learning with PowerPoint). Data were collected via an 8-question essay test measuring four socio-cultural skill indicators based on the Ministry of Education and Culture (2020). Descriptive analysis showed the experimental class's mean posttest score (86.47) outperformed the control class (76.89). Simple linear regression yielded an R-Square of 0.299, indicating a significant 29.9% contribution of the CTL model with Pop-Up Books to skill improvement. Furthermore, the N-Gain Score analysis revealed the experimental class achieved 76.26% (effective category), whereas the control class only reached 55.50% (fairly effective category). In conclusion, implementing the CTL model assisted by Pop-Up Book media significantly affects and proves more effective in improving elementary students’ socio-cultural skills than the Cooperative Learning model.

Abstract

The research focuses on the judge’s legal reasoning in the Central Jakarta Commercial Court ruling No. 92/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Hak Cipta/2024/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst regarding song copyright infringement. The purpose is to examine the basis of the judge's consideration in determining compensation and assess the accuracy of the legal basis used based on the principle of legal certainty. Normative juridical methods underpin this study, combining legislative, case, and conceptual approaches. The findings uncover that judges seek to safeguard the economic rights of creators; however, the legal foundation applied is not entirely appropriate, as it reflects a conflation of criminal and civil norms. In addition, the determination of compensation is not explained in detail and has not taken into account the royalty standards set by the LMKN. The study shed light that the decision reflects an inconsistency in the application of copyright law by combining civil and criminal legal norms in determining compensation, thereby weakening legal certainty and creating ambiguity in the legal basis for resolving song copyright infringement disputes.
