Abstract

The beach has an important role in the development and economy of a region. Therefore, it is important to understand the condition and characteristics of the coast so that it can be managed and developed wisely. One way to understand the condition of the beach is through making a map of the characteristics of the beach. A coastal characteristic map is a graphical representation of the conditions and characteristics of the geology, geography, and hydrology of a coast. Making a coastal characteristic map with remote sensing requires several steps, namely: 1). satellite data collection: Pre-processing satellite data; 2). classification of satellite data; 3). satellite data analysis; and finally 4). making a coastal characteristic map. The area that is the fabric material is the beach of Indramayu Regency, West Java. Based on the analysis and interpretation of 2015 Landsat 8 (LDCM) image data, 2020 Sentinel 2 Image data, BATNAS, and DEMNAS data, it is known that the characteristics of the Indramayu beach are that it has geo-quaternary building materials which include: (a) coastal bunds, ( b) swamp deposits, (c) shallow marine deposits, (d) sand deposits, (e) flood plains, (f) river deposits, and (g) floodplain deposits. The morphology includes: (a) beach sand plains, (b) concave coastal swamps, (c) old beach bunds, (d) young beach bunds, (e) alluvial plains, (f) flood plains, and (g) fan plains delta. Finally, it has a distribution of surface sediments on the seabed which includes: (a) sand, (b) silt, gravelly sand, (d) slightly gravelly silt, (e) slightly gravelly sandy mud, and (f) gravelly mud.

Abstract

Water is one of the basic needs for human life, including for people living on the coast. It is difficult to get clean water for consumption because most coastal areas are affected by sea conditions that have high salinity. In order to be consumed, the saline water must be desalinated. Desalination is a process to convert saline water into fresh water. One such desalination technology is using reverse osmosis (RO). The purpose of this study was to determine the process of desalination of seawater into freshwater using the seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) method. The method used in this research is observation, which is to see directly the stages of the desalination process of seawater into fresh water. The data was obtained in the form of primary data from observations and secondary data from the literature to support primary data. Analysis of the data used in the form of descriptive analysis by describing each stage carried out in the SWRO process. The results showed that the seawater desalination process using SWRO technology had 14 stages. These stages include; intake, raw water pump, raw water reservoir, UF feed pump, Automatic screen, ultrafiltration, UF water reservoir, RO feed pump, HPP & booster, RO membrane, RO water reservoir, permeate pump, chlorine analyzer, product water. In developed and developing countries, SWRO units have been widely used, because by processing seawater into freshwater, there are many benefits for the life cycle and it is environmentally friendly. It also maintains underground fresh water so that it can provide plant life, and trees that provide us with clean oxygen for our lives.

Abstract

Squid is one of the catches that contributes a lot to the value of marine fishery production in the Belitung Regency. In addition, squid is one of the fish resources that are economically valuable. Until now, all squid production in Indonesia comes from catches in nature. This means that products derived from cultivation do not yet exist. If only relying on the effort of the results of the capture alone, it is not impossible that one day there will be overfishing. The purpose of this study is to know the bioeconomic aspects of squid resources in the Belitung Regency. Research has been carried out in the waters of the Belitung Regency of Bangka Belitung Islands Province, with research locations in 3 (three) sub-districts that become fishing bases for squid fisheries, namely Sijuk, Membalong, and Tanjung Pandan districts. The method used is Purposing Sampling with case studies taking primary data from interviewed fishermen directly and secondary data from the Belitung district marine and fisheries service and Tanjung Pandan Regency VAT. Gordon Schaefer's Bioeconomics Analysis yields a CMSY value of 34.522 tons/year and an EMSY of 16.105 ships/year.  MEY condition was obtained at the time of CMEY value of 34.327 tons/year and EMEY value of  14.893 units of ships/year. The condition of OAE was obtained at the time of the COAE value of 9.616 tons/year and the EOAE value of 29.785 units of ships/year. The squid utilization rate in Belitung Regency has experienced overfishing in 2018 by 220%.

Abstract

Discus is one of the ornamental fish that lives in freshwater. Discus is a fish that is quite famous among ornamental fish lovers. Discus (Symphysodon discus) belongs to the Cichlidae family which comes from the calm waters of the Amazon river. This fish is also known as the King of Aquarium. Its body shape is round like a disc and its movements are smooth. Discus enthusiasts are numerous, and they are also creative to bring up new varieties that are better and more attractive, which are in demand by the public. All strains of discus fish are in demand by both local and export communities. At Mischosella Fish Cipayung Farm, 3 types of discus are cultivated, namely Pigeon, Turquois, and Malboro. These three types of discus have distinctive patterns and colors. The productivity of these three types of discus greatly influences the company's productivity in producing discus seeds. The purpose of this study was to determine the productivity of the Pigeon, Turquois, and Malboro discus at the Mischosella Fish Cipayung Farm and at the same time provide suggestions for the types of discus broodstock that need to be developed. The parameters observed in this study were brood spawning frequency, fecundity, hatching rate, and survival rate of discus larvae. Based on the results of the study, the spawning frequency was carried out by the Turquise species (9 times during the observation) while producing the most eggs (217 eggs). However, the highest hatching rate was produced by the Marlboro discus parent (96.26%). However, the highest survival rate was found in discus larvae produced by Turquise breeders (84.4%), and the highest ABL values were found in Marlboro and Pigeon. Water quality during larval rearing in the media for raising discus larvae for Pigeon, Turquise, and Marlboro types is in the same range, namely temperature 26 – 30.5oC, pH 6 – 6.8 and DO 5.5 – 6.3 mg/l. the optimum range for breeding discus seeds.

Abstract

Cilacap Regency is one of the giant Shark and ray landing sites on the south coast of Java. Engagement in fisheries management, such as RFMOs and CITES, requires regulations governing the use of sharks and rays in Indonesia. The successful application of these rules requires the support of fishermen and fish traders. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the perceptions of fishermen and fish traders on the understanding of the management status of sharks and rays and management strategies. The research method uses a quantitative approach, instrument testing, and simple linear regression data analysis using SPSS 25 software. The Shark and Ray management strategy uses SWOT analysis. The results of the average social, economic interval (fisherman) level assessment were 2.27 (enough), perceptions of environmentally friendly fishing gear were 3.11 (good), perceptions of the existence of shark and ray resources were 2.52 (good), and the value of understanding indicators supported management of sharks and rays 2.27 (fairly understand). Assessment of social-economic indicators (fish traders) and perceptions 2.53 (good), perceptions of the existence of shark and ray resources 2.17 (adequate), and understanding in supporting shark and ray management 2.43 (comprehensive). The results of simple linear regression show that fishermen's socioeconomic indicators have a negative effect on understanding supporting Shark and ray management. Fishermen's perceptions of environmentally sound fishing gear, perceptions of the existence of shark and ray resources (fishermen and fish traders), and the socioeconomic conditions of fish traders have no influence on understanding supporting sharks and rays. The results of the SWOT analysis are in the Weakness and Opportunity cells, namely through efforts to limit products, increase the human resource capacity of business actors and related agencies, and ease of obtaining access to capital for fishermen.

Abstract

The increase in aquaculture activities has made most people interested in working on it. Catfish is one of the cultivation commodities that are in great demand by the public. This study aims to analyze the growth of probiotic catfish (Clarias sp.) in soil ponds with the KJT system. The research was conducted from September to November 2022 at the pond of Mr. Fitra, a member of the Pokdakan Mina Berkah Mandiri, Balunijuk Village, Bangka Belitung. The research method includes calculating the growth of catfish and testing water quality which is accompanied by PP No. 22 years 2021. Fish growth shows a positive allometric pattern, meaning that weight growth is more dominant than length growth. This is thought to be a positive effect of the probiotic Probio_FmUBB on catfish growth and pond water quality. Water quality is sufficient to support the growth of catfish, especially the main parameters such as temperature, pH, and DO. Known water quality values such as temperature parameters 27-30oC, pH 6.05, and DO 5.03 mg/L affect catfish growth. Feeding full pellets is very supportive of positive allometric growth patterns and optimal catfish growth. Suggestions can be developed for catfish enlargement by Pokdakan with persistence while raising fish.
