Abstract

Climate change is constant. The average temperature has risen since the globe was encased in ice millions of years ago. Current climate change is caused by natural events and human behavior in treating and managing the environment. The huge burning of coal, oil, and wood and deforestation caused by economic development has seriously damaged the world's climate. Global climate change may alter peat carbon stored by forest and land fires. Human activities like plantation development, agriculture, and logging have made tropical peatlands more vulnerable to fire. Indonesia has 44 million hectares of tropical peatlands, with 45% and 64% carbon content. This study addresses Palangka Raya's intermittent land surface heating. The Palangka Raya University academic community conducted this research to provide input on climate change and the global environment and to predict a symptom or occurrence that harms society. This project is part of the University of Palangka Raya's Principal Scientific Pattern (PIP): Science and Technology Innovation in Tropical Peat Swamp Areas and River Streams.

Abstract

The problem of plastic waste is still an environmental threat, but efforts to suppress plastic waste continue to be developed until now. Purun straws are a biodegradable product to solve the problem of plastic waste. So, purun straw products can become the concern of an environmentally aware global community. The research aims to describe purun straws as an eco-friendly product. In-depth interviews with key informants revealed that purun danau (Lepironia articulate) was sufficiently available as a raw material, and a semi-finished purun straw product was produced, which was eco-friendly

Abstract

This study is an attempt to determine the level of vegetation density resulting from the 2017 RHL planting in Gunung Malang Village. The study method for evaluating the plant density index is done by determining the number of sample plots based on Stratified Random Sampling is a technique used to determine the number of samples, if the population is stratified but not proportional. Taking into account the determination of the sample based on the potential of the arable land which then classified by taking three criteria, namely the potential with high, medium, and low levels which are classified based on secondary vegetation data of the cultivators. Data collection was carried out using a census inventory with Plot Samples were taken based on the area under cultivation. The results of the plant evaluation are then processed by calculating the density level index formula which is analyzed to obtain the value of Density and Relative Density (KR) to determine the density level of the area so that conclusions can be drawn. The results of the study show that the results of the analysis of the 2017 RHL vegetation density level of the remaining number are only 103 tree stands at this time with a density value of 2.4772 or (2.48%) with a relative density of 1 or (100%). From the results of the RHL density analysis, the density level was relatively low when compared to the number of seeds planted. With the current remaining stands, the percentage of growth is less than 75% of the total number of seedlings planted, so this RHL activity can be said to be unsuccessful based on PermenLHK No. 2 of 2020. Abstract

Phantera tigris sumatrae has a fairly high adaptability to changes in habitat outside its natural habitat, as for changes in areas that have changed functions which were formerly forest areas but are now community gardens, which causes Sumatran tigers to leave and enter community settlements in search of food sources due to forest area shifts. Sumatran tigers can still be found on the island of Sumatra, Lack of public knowledge about Sumatran tiger activities that can endanger livestock and endanger human lives at the same time. Therefore, Sumatran tigers are hunted, captured, and snared. Therefore, information on Sumatran tiger activities is important in an effort to preserve and protect Sumatran tigers. This research method is focal time sampling. This research was conducted from July 2021 to August 2021 for 30 effective days every day to collect daily data on Sumatran tigers. The objects observed in each individual based on sex and age were adult females and juvenile males. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the highest daily activity in adult females was moving behavior with a percentage of 21.0%, followed by rest 18.7%, social 1.2%, grooming 1.0%, eating and drinking 0.4%, defecation and urination 0.3%, other activities 57.4%, while for adolescent males the highest activity was moving with a percentage of 12.64%, followed by rest 5.47%, Grooming 0.44%, social 0.37%, eating 0, 30%, other activities 80.32%. Suggestions from this study are the need for further research in order to determine the behavior patterns and adaptations of the Sumatran tiger at the Dharmasraya Sumatran tiger rehabilitation center, West Sumatra.

Abstract

Land cover changes are difficult to review caused by large areas where the rate of its changes can not be controlled. Its changes need to be learned to obtain information of forest condition. The purpose of this study is to analyze land cover changes in 2015 to 2019 using Landsat 8 OLI-TIRS imagery including to know the vegetation diversity in Kapuas Tengah Sub District, Central Kalimantan Province. The results showed that during this time there are degradation of dense forest to shrubs approximately 7,857.061 ha and reforestation of medium forest to dense forest was 7,220.401 ha. The increasing of land cover is also occurred from open area to forest approximately 277.248 ha through palm oil plantations. The accuracy level of land cover classification is still not maximum. The results of the vegetation analysis also show that at each level of forest growth there are variations in species, which are dominated by red meranti (Shorea johorensis Foxw), white ketumbu, kalapapa and sampahiring (Cyperus Sp.). Diversity index and species richness index are categorized as low to moderate. Whereas the species evenness index is high category with index value of 1.

Abstract

Bamboo that has the potential to be developed as a laminated board is petung bamboo. Bamboo petung can be made of laminated boards because it has thick stem walls (10 mm-30 mm), thick stem walls will save the use of adhesives. The requirements for making bamboo laminated boards are straight trunks, 3 to 5 years old and not attacked by pests and diseases. For the feasibility of using petung bamboo as a laminated board, it is necessary to test the physical and mechanical properties of the petung bamboo laminated board. Physical properties are needed to determine the dimensional stability of the resulting board and mechanical properties are needed to determine the ability of the board to withstand loads. This research will look at the strength of the physical and mechanical properties of laminated board based on the arrangement of the blades towards the width and the effect of laur weight on the physical and mechanical properties of petung bamboo laminated board. The research method used in this study used an experimental method with a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) experimental design with two treatments (flour weight). The study of laminated boards with the arrangement of the blades towards the width resulted in the following physical and mechanical properties: moisture content: 13.746%, density: 0.418 gram/cm3, thickness sweeling: 2.325%, MoE: 15120.226 kgf/cm2 and MoR: 354.943 kgf/ cm2. All tests of physical and mechanical properties had no significant effect on the adhesive mass except for the thickness shrinkage test. Based on the value of the strength class of the laminated board, the bamboo petung laminated board with the arrangement towards the width is included in the strong class III which can be used as building materials such as door frames, windows, panels, household furniture and wood industries.
