Abstract

The increasing demand for automation in industries has led to the development of efficient and cost-effective classification systems. This study focuses on designing and implementing an automatic bottle color classification system using the TCS3200 color sensor, integrated with Arduino microcontroller technology. The system aims to detect and classify bottle colors accurately to streamline industrial processes, such as packaging and sorting. The TCS3200 sensor, capable of detecting a wide spectrum of colors, serves as the primary sensing device. It converts light intensity into frequency signals, which are processed by the Arduino microcontroller to determine the color of the bottle. The classification process involves predefined thresholds for Red, Green, and Blue (RGB) components, allowing the system to categorize bottles into specific color groups. Experimental results demonstrate that the system achieves high accuracy in identifying bottle colors under varying lighting conditions. The system is also highly scalable, making it adaptable to different industrial needs. This research concludes that the proposed solution offers a reliable, efficient, and low-cost alternative for bottle color classification in automated industrial applications.

Abstract

Solar energy is a renewable energy source that is abundant, environmentally friendly, and has great potential to be utilized, especially in tropical areas such as Indonesia. This research aims to design and analyze an off-grid rooftop solar power generation system (PLTS) for residential houses in Medan City using PVSyst software. The research location is at the coordinates of Latitude 3.5951°N and Longitude 98.6722°E, with the tilt angle of the solar panel adjusted at 30° (following the slope of the roof of the house) and the facing direction to the south with an azimuth angle of 180°. The PV modules used are monocrystalline silicon type (STP 250S-20/Wd+) with a total capacity of 3 kWp. The system is designed to meet a daily energy demand of 7.1 kWh/day and an annual demand of 2,598 kWh. The system configuration includes 12 PV modules, a battery with a capacity of 800 Ah (24 V), and an inverter to support standalone operation for 2.2 days without energy input from the solar panels. Simulation results show that the system generates an average energy of 9.1 kWh/day, with a Performance Ratio (PR) of 0.544 (54.4%). The main losses include losses in the PV Array (0.75 kWh/kWp/day), losses in the solar system (0.22 kWh/kWp/day), and unused energy of 1.01 kWh/kWp/day. Solar Fraction reached 99.7%, with Missing Energy of 6.972 kWh due to weather variations. This research shows that off-grid rooftop solar PV can be an effective solution to meet residential energy needs, reduce carbon emissions, and support the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy system.

Abstract

Power Supply Current Limiter CircuitThe current limiter to be analyzed works to create an overcurrent protection system and is able to work quickly, when overcurrent occurs due to overload or short circuit. The current limiter circuit uses two transistors configured as a differential pair, combined with a fixed current source to limit the current available to the pass transistor of the voltage regulator. From the research results, it was obtained that the measurement results of the current limiter had been successfully made, namely for a 5 VDC load with a limit of 0.30 A and a 12 VDC load with a limit of 0.7 A. In normal condition testing with a resistor value of more than 16 Ω for a 0.30 A current limiter and a resistor value of more than 20 Ω for a current limiter with a limit of 0.7 A, the output current of the current limiter has a value based on the resistor load value (Ω), namely the greater the resistor value, the smaller the current will be for a 0.30 A current limiter and for a 0.7 A current limiter. In overcurrent condition testing with a resistor load value smaller than the resistor load under normal conditions, namely less than 18 Ω for a 5 VDC current limiter with a limit of 0.30 A and less than 20 Ω for a 12 VDC current limiter with a limit of 0.7 A, the output current of the current limiter for a 5 VDC load. The output current of the current limiter is in accordance with the current limit in the circuit according to the ability of the synchronous buck converter and the battery and the devices connected to it to withstand the current. In short circuit condition testing, the current limit value is in accordance with the designed limit, namely 0.22A and 0.45A.
