Abstract

The significant growth in the number of elderly Hajj pilgrims in Indonesia has prompted the need for inclusive policies that focus not only on technical aspects but also on the formation of fair and humane public perceptions of this vulnerable group. This study aims to describe the construction of the Elderly-Friendly Hajj program in the media of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2023–2024, identify key messages, and analyze the context of media use in program socialization. The study uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative case study approach, through documentation of the official social media of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, in-depth interviews with officials and communication practitioners, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results show that the media constructs the elderly as active subjects with spiritual capacity and an important role in worship, emphasizing humanistic, inclusive, and humanitarian-value-based Hajj services. Media messages are effective, encouraging active participation, highlighting special facilities, physical and mental readiness, mentoring, health education, elderly-friendly worship, and the digitalisation of services. The use of media is participatory and empathetic, becoming a space for education, advocacy, and the formation of public opinion based on multi-platform technology. This study presents a social media construction-based policy communication model that integrates message values, digital technology, and inclusive public policy.

Abstract

The coastal environmental crisis is a serious problem that demands a multidimensional approach that is not only technical, but also touches on the spiritual and socio-cultural aspects of the community. This study aims to formulate a Madurese contextual ecotheology model as a strategy to strengthen coastal environmental resilience, with a case study in Kampung Pasir, Sumenep Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic and phenomenological methods, through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies of the socio-religious life of coastal communities. Data analysis was carried out with a thematic and interpretative approach to identify the relationship between religious values and ecological practices of the community. The results of the study indicate that theological values such as the concept of caliph, trust, prohibition fasad(damage), as well as the principles of blessing and harmony have shaped the environmental ethics that live within the community. These values are internalized through the role of religious leaders, social interaction patterns, religious traditions, and mutual cooperation mechanisms that regulate human relations with nature. This study also formulates a Madurese contextual ecotheology model that encompasses five main dimensions: theological, socio-communal, environmental education, ecological practices, and local policies. This model offers an integrative framework that connects faith, local culture, and environmental conservation strategies in a sustainable manner. This study concludes that the Madurese coastal context-based ecotheology approach has strategic potential as a guideline for strengthening environmental resilience rooted in spirituality and local wisdom, and is relevant for the development of community-based environmental policies in coastal areas of Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mechanisms of moral disengagement and moral flexibility in the political behavior of religious actors in post-reform Indonesia. Moral disengagement is defined as a socio-cognitive process that enables individuals to commit unethical actions without experiencing internal moral conflict, while moral flexibility refers to the contextual and situational application of moral values. Employing a qualitative method with a critical discourse analysis approach, this research analyzes political texts, speeches, ideological documents, and religious narratives that reflect power practices. The research scope includes religion-based political actors and Indonesia’s democratic public sphere. The findings indicate that moral disengagement is institutionalized through euphemistic language, moral justification, and diffusion of responsibility, whereas moral flexibility operates as an adaptive mechanism that alleviates tension between normative values and political interests. The main challenges involve the lack of empirical psychological data and the complexity of discourse interpretation. This study recommends strengthening critical ethical literacy and promoting political leadership models grounded in moral accountability. This research provides a conceptual integration of moral disengagement and moral flexibility within the context of religious politics in Indonesia, contributing to the expansion of moral psychology into the sociology of power.

Abstract

The family serves as the primary Islamic educational institution, shaping children's personality amid modern challenges that weaken its pedagogical role. This study analyzes its urgency and formulates a contemporary framework via discourse analysis of the Al-Usrāh text in Al-Tarbiyyah Al-Islamiyyah by Nafiz Sulaiman Al-Ajab and Muhammad Kamil Al-Jamal. Employing qualitative library research, it draws on primary (the book) and secondary sources, analyzed via Miles-Huberman model. Findings highlight the family as guardian of fiṭrah, character builder, and faith internalizer. The framework integrates tarbiyyah, ta‘līm, and ta’dīb, emphasizing parental role-modeling, habituation, hidden curricula, conducive environments, and muḥāsabah. Strengthening family pedagogy counters globalization, fostering faithful, knowledgeable generations.

Abstract

This study analyzes the Rereongan Sapoe Sarebu (Poe Ibu) Movement policy from a siyasah maliyah perspective and evaluates its effectiveness in enhancing community welfare. Employing a qualitative empirical juridical approach, it draws on in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation from Batununggal District, Bandung City. Findings reveal strong normative legitimacy for Poe Ibu within Indonesian positive law and Islamic jurisprudence, embodying maslahah (welfare), distributive justice, and social solidarity. However, sub-district implementation falters due to administrative hurdles, poor inter-agency coordination, and technical misalignment. In contrast, educational institutions show notable success in boosting social participation and solidarity, despite community debates and obstacles. From a siyasah maliyah viewpoint, the policy is justifiable if voluntary, transparent, and supplementary to state welfare duties. Recommendations include strengthening regulations, transparency, and accountability to ensure optimal, sustainable implementation aligned with social justice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the integration of multiple approaches within religious studies can strengthen the development of da‘wah science in the contemporary pluralistic era. The research focuses on key concepts such as integrative–interconnective epistemology, multidisciplinary religious studies, and transformative da‘wah. Using a qualitative philosophical design and a systematic literature review, this study examines major theories in da‘wah, religious pluralism, and the methodological contributions of phenomenology, psychology, anthropology, sociology, and theology. The object of analysis includes the ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions linking religious studies and da‘wah. The findings reveal that multidisciplinary integration expands the scope of da‘wah, enriches its scientific methodology, and strengthens its ethical orientation toward universal values, social dialogue, and community empowerment in diverse societies. The study identifies key challenges, including the dominance of normative–textual paradigms, limited multicultural competence among preachers, and insufficient interdisciplinary literacy within da‘wah institutions. This research recommends developing curricula for da‘wah grounded in religious studies, utilizing social research as a basis for planning da‘wah programs, and reinforcing interfaith dialogue as a means to foster social harmony. The study contributes by formulating a transformative and interdisciplinary da‘wah framework that aligns with contemporary pluralistic realities. This research offers an integrative conceptual model for the development of interdisciplinary da‘wah, serves as an academic reference for strengthening religious moderation, and opens new avenues for empirical studies on the implementation of multidimensional da‘wah in pluralistic contexts.

Abstract

Digital hadith platforms in Indonesia, adopting Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī’s unverified ṣaḥīḥ/ḥasan assessments from his ten compilations, have eroded traditional scholarly authority and sparked controversies. This study analyzes 50 sample hadiths to: (1) identify ʿilal (hidden defects) and shudhūdh (anomalies) per mutaqaddimīn criteria; (2) classify Al-Albānī as mutasāḥil, mutashaddid, or muʿtadil; (3) compare his methods with mutaqaddimīn/mutaʼakhkhirīn; and (4) assess digital impacts on ʿilal methodology, authority shifts (jamāʿī to fardī), and religious practice. The framework integrates Grand Theory (mutaqaddimīn ʿilal/shudhūdh), Middle Range Theory (methodological dialectics), and Applied Theory (digital hadith authority). Using qualitative-library research via Manhaj al-Taḥqīq al-Muqāran, Five-Dimensional Criticism (5 Mīm), and Digital Verification Framework (5 Tāʼ), findings reveal seven sanad ʿilal types (e.g., ḏaʿfu al-rāwī 96%, tafarrud 80%) and three matn types (e.g., mukhālafah 28%), confirming mutaqaddimīn superiority via jamʿu al-ṭuruq. Twelve systemic errors (al-Anmāṭ al-Iṯhnā ʿAshara) classify al-Albānī as mutasāḥil fī al-taṣḥīḥ wa al-taḥsīn, amplified digitally to shift authority and practice. Recommendations urge diverse assessments on platforms, enhanced ʿilal curricula, and critical literacy. Contributions include Manhaj al-Taḥqīq al-Muqāran and al-manẓūmah al-Sufūyāniyyah for the preservation of the digital Sunnah.

Abstract

This study critically examines hadiths on Fadail al-Sham (virtues of the Levant) and their relevance to the Palestine-Israel conflict, framed historically from the 1936 Arab Revolt through Gaza conflicts (2008–2024). Intertwined political, territorial, identity, and religious factors have fueled escalations, casualties, displacement, and destruction. Employing takhrij and dirasah al-asanid, alongside interdisciplinary hadith criticism and conflict resolution studies, the research assesses sanad/matn authenticity, historical interpretations, conflict dynamics, and prophetic contributions to peacebuilding. The objectives are: Evaluate hadith quality; trace interpretive evolution; analyze conflict relevance; propose sustainable resolutions. Findings reveal 18 authentic/hasan hadiths, dominated by Shami narrations with reinforcing shawahid. Thematically categorized as: Bait al-Maqdis sanctity, Divine protection of Sham, eschatology, and Muslim steadfastness. These affirm Fadail al-Sham as core mu'tabar hadith, informing religious dimensions of the conflict.

Abstract

This article examines the role of museums as a strategic pedagogical medium in the construction and understanding of fiqh watan, with a case study focused on the state of Pahang. Departing from conventional approaches to fiqh education that are predominantly textual and ahistorical, the study argues that fiqh should be understood as a living law rooted in local history, customs, institutions, and collective memory. Grounded in an Islamic epistemological framework based on tawḥīd and adab, the article conceptualizes the museum as an epistemological institution that constructs historical meaning and legal authority through curatorial selection and interpretation of artefacts. Employing a qualitative approach grounded in conceptual and interpretive analysis, this study integrates literature from museum studies, Islamic education, and local legal history. The findings demonstrate that museum-based pedagogy grounded in fiqh watan enables a holistic integration of farḍ ‘ayn and farḍ kifāyah through artefact-centered engagement. The article further proposes three curatorial principles derived from Islamic epistemology, i.e. object uniqueness, high quality (itqān), and historical representativeness as epistemic criteria for the development of Islamic museums.  From a decolonial perspective, the study challenges the claim of neutrality in modern museums and proposes fiqh watan-based museums as counter-archives that restore epistemic authority to local historical experience. Overall, this article contributes to the discourse in Islamic education, heritage studies, and museum studies by positioning the museum as an institution of tarbiyah that integrates law, history, and local identity.
