Abstract

This research delves into a Sufi Order’s significant role in fostering social piety among its followers. Rooted in Sufism, the Tijaniyah Order (Tariqa) emphasizes a dual focus on spiritual relations with Allah (hablum minallah) and social contributions (hablum minannas). Social piety, in this context, involves embodying religious values in everyday life, such as performing good deeds, assisting those in need, and fulfilling social responsibilities. The study employs a qualitative methodology, incorporating participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentary studies. Data analysis follows a rigorous process of reduction, presentation, and verification to draw valid conclusions. Central to this research are the Tazkiyatun Nafs (soul purification) concepts of Takhalli, Tahalli, and Tajalli. Takhalli refers to purging oneself of negative traits like greed and selfishness, thereby heightening sensitivity to social needs. Tahalli involves cultivating positive attributes like compassion and kindness, which encourage proactive social engagement. Tajalli represents achieving a profound realization that social actions reflect divine love. The Tijaniyah Tariqa's blend of spiritual and social values significantly contributes to societal welfare and harmony. Continuous practices such as amaliah wirid lazimah, wadhifah, and hailalah reinforce values like trust, honesty, almsgiving, and cooperation. This integration fosters harmonious social interactions, underscoring the Tijaniyah Tariqa's enduring and meaningful impact on social welfare. Through its presence at Al-Falah Islamic Boarding School, of Biru, Garut Regency, West Java, Indonesia, the Tijaniyah Tariqa not only strengthens individual spirituality but also enhances social bonds, leaving a positive mark on the community.

Abstract

On Adonara Island, customary land conflicts began with a rival war, or war between citizens, which occurred due to differences in customary rights over land. There was a conflict between the residents of Narasosina Village and the residents of Lewobunga Village. In this case, the residents of Lewonara Village refused the inauguration of a settlement location for the residents of Lewobunga Village on customary land that was considered to belong to Narasaosina Village. So, the war between the residents of Narasaosina Village and the residents of Lewobunga Village because the request letter to empty the flower casserole was not heeded. In the last twenty years, there have been ten villages that have been warned over customary land rights and there has been no serious settlement. The ten villages that were moaning and had not been resolved were: (1). Redontena Village vs Adobala Village, (2). Sandosi Village vs Sandosi Village (a war fought within the village, between tribes that fight over land), (3). Lamahala vs Huruhura(4). Teulu Old Village vs Kewo Keleng Village, (5). Narasosina Village vs Lewo Bunga Village. To resolve the conflict that occurred in Adonara, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, efforts would be made to resolve the conflict. Conflict resolution could be done with conflict management, and conflict resolution was a peaceful method that allows both parties to end or significantly reduce the conflict. It might not be too difficult to handle or help handle conflicts that arise from conflicts of interest.

Abstract

This research examines the intersection of religion and culture within Muhammadiyah, specifically through the "Pengkajian Dakwah Kultural" [cultural da’wah study] program broadcasted on YouTube's TvMu. The study aims to explore how Muhammadiyah uses digital media to promote cultural da'wah while maintaining its religious integrity. Using a qualitative approach with narrative analysis, the study analyzes the content of TvMu's programs from 2021 to 2024, including dialogues, sermons, and cultural performances. The findings suggest that Muhammadiyah has embraced a more inclusive and adaptive approach to cultural integration, seeing culture not as a threat but as an integral part of its da'wah. The study reveals that digital media, particularly YouTube, plays a vital role in facilitating this integration, making religious teachings more accessible and relevant to a younger, tech-savvy audience. The research underscores the importance of balancing cultural authenticity with religious principles in the context of modern-day da'wah.

Abstract

This article investigates the dynamics of religious identity politics in Indonesia’s 2024 presidential election, with a particular focus on the political communication strategy of Anies Rasyid Baswedan. The study aims to explore how religious narratives and symbols are constructed within Anies’s campaign discourse and to examine the broader socio-political implications of such identity-based appeals in a pluralistic democracy. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research analyzes a range of data, including media coverage, campaign speeches, symbolic visual elements, and relevant literature. The findings reveal that religious identity politics has not vanished from Indonesia’s electoral landscape but has undergone a strategic transformation. Rather than employing overt sectarian messaging, Anies leverages a symbolic, layered communication strategy that harmonizes his personal religious image with themes of national unity, moral leadership, and cultural pluralism. This enables him to appeal simultaneously to conservative Muslim constituencies and urban moderate voters. His approach reflects a shift from the confrontational identity politics of previous elections toward a more adaptive and communicative form of religious symbolism. In conclusion, this study shows that identity politics in contemporary Indonesian elections is increasingly mediated through symbolic discourse and nuanced messaging. The research contributes to a deeper theoretical understanding of the evolving role of religious identity in electoral democracies and offers practical insights into the ethical and strategic dimensions of political communication in a culturally diverse society.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of khuruj within the Nidzamuddin faction of the Tablighi Jamaat in Bandung, Indonesia, and examines its implications for the religious behavior of its members. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, the research collected data through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The analysis is framed through Max Weber’s theory of social action, which helps interpret khuruj as a form of meaningful and multidimensional religious engagement. The findings show that khuruj is not a mechanical or purely traditional ritual. It is a dynamic process shaped by affective experiences, rational calculations, and deeply held spiritual values. The practice contributes to personal religious transformation, strengthens consistency in worship, and fosters a sense of communal responsibility in religious outreach. The study also explores how internal organizational tensions, particularly the split between the Nidzamuddin and Syura Alami factions, reshaped the movement’s social structure and emphasized the role of value-based cohesion. This research contributes to the sociology of religion by showing how informal, experiential religious practices can influence identity formation and offer meaningful alternatives to formal religious education.

Abstract

This study critically examines how Western philosophy constructs epistemic hegemony through historical, methodological, and terminological mechanisms, and explores how non-Western traditions such as Confucianism and Daoism can be recognized as complete and authentic without undergoing conceptual subordination. This research is significant as the discourse of global philosophy remains dominated by Western epistemic structures that limit the plurality of rational forms. Employing a qualitative, literature-based approach, this study analyzes key metaphilosophical texts, Jacques Derrida’s theory of deconstruction, and Alain Badiou’s ontology as conceptual tools to trace power relations embedded in the definitions and boundaries of philosophy. The findings reveal that Western philosophy has institutionalized a linear historical narrative, logical-deductive methodological standards, and a Greek-Latin vocabulary as prerequisites for philosophical validity—resulting in the systematic exclusion of non-Western thought. The study further proposes a conceptual framework of dialogical exclusive multiplicity as an alternative for recognizing truth procedures in non-Western traditions as autonomous and equal. The implications of this research open avenues for deconstructing philosophy as the sole legitimate mode of thinking and promote the formation of a more epistemically just global philosophical ecosystem. The originality of this study lies in its critical synthesis of metaphilosophy, deconstruction, and contemporary ontology to construct an alternative paradigm for cross-traditional philosophical inquiry—one based not on inclusion, but on recognition and articulative equality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the political implications of the 2022 Indonesia–Singapore Extradition Treaty from the perspective of Siyasah Dauliyah, focusing on its linkage to the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) and the Flight Information Region (FIR) arrangement. Employing a normative juridical method with a descriptive-analytical approach, the research examines primary and secondary legal sources, including Abdul Karim Zaidan’s Islamic extradition theory and Wahbah az-Zuhaili’s concept of territorial sovereignty. The findings indicate that the treaty holds strategic value for cross-border law enforcement, particularly through its retroactive clause, enabling the pursuit of corruption fugitives in Singapore. However, the bundling of the extradition agreement with the DCA and FIR raises sovereignty concerns that contradict key principles of Siyasah Dauliyah. The study concludes that the treaty’s effectiveness depends on sustained political commitment, harmonized legal procedures, and strengthened asset recovery mechanisms. The research contributes by integrating Islamic legal perspectives with modern international relations theory, offering a normative and practical framework for evaluating similar international agreements in the future.

Abstract

This study explores the theological perspectives of Jewish religious leaders on the Israel–Palestine conflict, with a particular focus on Jewish Liberation Theology. Employing a qualitative approach through literature review and in-depth interviews with nine rabbis representing three theological strands—Religious Zionism, Moderate Judaism, and Liberation Theology—this research examines how the Jewish collective historical experience, particularly the Shoah and diaspora, has shaped differing interpretations of justice, power, and interfaith relations. The analysis adopts a contextual hermeneutic paradigm that integrates textual interpretations of the Torah, Talmud, and prophetic literature with ethical reflection on structural oppression and political violence. The findings reveal that Jewish Liberation Theology constructs a narrative of universal solidarity, rejecting exclusivist claims to sacred land and advocating for the rights of Palestinians as a moral imperative rooted in Torah ethics. In contrast, Religious Zionist theology affirms the establishment of the State of Israel as a fulfillment of divine prophecy and upholds Jewish ethno-religious sovereignty. Meanwhile, Moderate Jewish theology seeks a balance between pluralism, democracy, and religious tradition. The study concludes that these theological divergences have significant implications for the political and ethical orientations of Jewish communities both in Israel and the diaspora. The research contributes to the field of religious studies by offering a new typological mapping of Jewish theological responses to political conflict and demonstrating how religious belief can function both as a source of domination and as a liberating moral force.
