Abstract

Abstract Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks white blood cells (lymphocytes) that cause the decline of human immune. High risk groups such as Female Sex Workers (FSWs) tend not to access health services because of the decrimination they face in society. Health promotion is still an important strategy in increasing self-awareness of FSWs to perform Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) examination, one of them is through the utilization of cellular phone technology. This study aims to determine the effect of cell phone Short Message Service (SMS) as a media health education about HIV and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) to health seeking behavior of FSWs. Pre-experimental design one group pre-test pos-ttest design was conducted at 33 FSWs at Terminal Pesiapan, Tabanan District. The results of pre-test and post-test showed an influence on behavior (knowledge, attitude and action) after SMS based health promotion intervention (p <0,05), knowledge (p = 0,039), attitude (p = 0,003), and action (p = 0,000). After the intervention there was an increase in behavior that is on knowledge 30,3%, 36,4% attitude and 63,6% action. Mobile phone SMS media proves to be effective in conveying health information so as to raise awareness of FSWs in conducting HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). An innovative, short, easy-to-understand message on HIV and AIDS should be provided with simple language and regular use of cellular-based information technology by healthcare workers. The study carried out in February-July 2019 with a cross sectional design. The relationship of community knowledge and behavior in the prevention of DHF was examined using the Chi-Square test. This study was followed by 68 subjects through simple random sampling technique. Result of the study were the most respondents aged 36-45 years in 23 (33.9%) subjects, education level senior high school in 35 (51.5%) subjects, and work as housewives in 22 (32,4%) subjects. The level of knowledge and behavior both were included in the category sufficient in 45 (66.2%) subjects and 40 (58.8%) subjects respectively. The chi-square analysis obtained that there was a relationship between the level of knowledge with behavior in the prevention of DHF (p value = 0.002) where the better of the knowledge would followed by better behavior. The conclusion: there was association between level of knowledge and subject's behavior in preventing DHF. This study was a non-experimental study with correlational design. The sample consisted of 43 persons selected by consecutive sampling technique. The data were collected by questionnaire SISRI and DMSES to know the score of spiritual intelligence and self efficacy. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment test. The results of this study indicated there is the positive correlation between spiritual intelligence and self efficacy with sufficient correlation, p value 0,019 (p ? 0,05). Spiritual intelligence was giving 12,6 % influence on self efficacy, the rest was influenced by the other factor. It was expected that patients can apply spiritual intelligence and self efficacy in everyday life so that it could prevent the occurrence of DM complications.
