Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of group guidance services using the talking chips technique on the career decision-making abilities of eleventh-grade students at SMA Laboratorium School UPGRIS. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 10 students selected through purposive sampling based on the results of the Student Needs Assessment (AKPD) and interviews with guidance and counseling teachers. The research instrument was a career decision-making questionnaire, which had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that the average posttest score was higher than the pretest score. The results of the hypothesis test using a paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Thus, group guidance services using the talking chips technique have a positive effect on improving students' career decision-making abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the verbally aggressive behavior of QN, identify the causal factors, analyze the impact, and determine the handling strategies at SMP Negeri 8 Makassar. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method through interviews, observations, and documentation, as well as data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that QN uses harsh words, teasing, and demeaning, influenced by internal factors (sensitive, easily offended, seeking attention) and external factors (family background and permissive parenting). The impact includes emotional, social, and academic aspects. Handling through individual counseling with the behavioral contract technique successfully reduced aggressive behavior and increased self-control. These findings serve as a reference for guidance and counseling teachers in designing counseling services to manage students' verbally aggressive behavior.

Abstract

Children's emotional development is an important aspect in the formation of psychological well-being and emotional regulation abilities. In addition to the role of parents, sibling relationships also contribute to providing emotional support for children, but their role has received relatively little attention in empirical studies. This study aims to explore and understand the role of sibling relationships in children's emotional development based on the experiences of the children as research subjects. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive qualitative design. The research subjects were children who have siblings, selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while the validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results of the study indicate that sibling relationships play a role in providing emotional support through closeness in relationships, cooperation in daily activities, and the ability to show attention and support when facing problems. Conflicts between siblings were also found in daily interactions; however, these conflicts were generally minor and could be resolved through communication or parental guidance. In addition, interactions between older and younger siblings help children learn to manage emotions, develop empathy, and improve their social skills. The conclusion of this study shows that sibling relationships play an important role as a source of emotional support within the family and contribute positively to children's emotional development.

Abstract

Keluarga yang memiliki anggota dengan gangguan jiwa sering mengalami stigma sosial, yang berdampak pada kondisi psikologis dan sosial mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi strategi coping stress yang digunakan oleh keluarga dalam menghadapi stigma sosial terhadap anggota keluarga yang mengalami gangguan jiwa. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode naratif digunakan untuk menggali pengalaman lima informan yang tinggal di Kota Sungai Penuh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa stigma sosial yang dialami keluarga mencakup penolakan, pengucilan, dan pelabelan negatif dari lingkungan sekitar. Dalam menghadapi tekanan tersebut, keluarga menggunakan dua bentuk utama strategi coping, yaitu emotion-focused coping dan problem-focused coping. Coping dilakukan secara bertahap, dimulai dari fase ketidakpercayaan, proses penyesuaian, hingga penerimaan kondisi anggota keluarga. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa strategi coping berkembang secara dinamis dan dipengaruhi oleh konteks sosial dan budaya. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan layanan konseling keluarga yang lebih kontekstual dan berbasis naratif.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and the increasing use of social media among Generation Z have given rise to various psychological phenomena, one of which is Fear of Missing Out (FoMO). FoMO is a feeling of anxiety or fear of missing out on information, experiences, or activities experienced by others, especially those seen through social media. This condition can trigger social comparison, anxiety, and reduce an individual’s psychological well-being. From an Islamic perspective, the concept of contentment is seen as a spiritual value that emphasizes feelings of sufficiency, gratitude, and acceptance of Allah SWT’s provisions. This study aims to understand how understanding the concept of contentment plays a role in reducing FoMO experiences among Generation Z Muslim women who use social media. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological type to explore the subjective experiences of informants. The research subjects were selected using a purposive sampling technique with the criteria of Muslim women belonging to Generation Z, active users of social media, and having experiences related to FoMO. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using phenomenological analysis which includes transcription, data reduction, thematic coding, and identification of main themes. The results of this study indicate that FoMO experiences among Generation Z Muslim women manifest as anxiety about missing out on information, a compulsion to constantly monitor social media, and a tendency to compare themselves to others. Factors influencing FoMO include the intensity of social media use, the psychological need for social acceptance, and the tendency to engage in social comparison. Furthermore, understanding the concept of contentment (qana’ah) helps informants control desires, reduce envy, and foster gratitude for what they have. Thus, contentment serves as a spiritual value that can help Generation Z Muslim women use social media more wisely and reduce anxiety associated with the FoMO phenomenon.

Abstract

Kehadiran mahasiswa praktikum lapangan bimbingan dan konseling islam di SMPIT Al-Fityan School Aceh diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam memperkaya dinamika pelaksanaan layanan konseling disekolah  melalui peningkatan antusiasme siswa. Namun, terdapat kesenjangan yang ditunjukkan oleh rendahnya tingkat keterbukaan siswa, yang ditandai dengan sikap tertutup dan pasif siswa selama sesi konseling. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan persepsi siswa SMPIT Al-Fityan School Aceh terhadap mahasiswa praktikum. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif  deskrpitif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa yang menerima praktikum layanan konseling, penentuan subjek dilakukan melalui teknik non-probability sampling dengan jenis purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui dua teknik utama yaitu, wawancara semi tersrtuktur, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data manggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data,dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi siswa terhadap layanan konseling bersifat beragam dan dipengaruhi oleh kualitas interaksi awal serta penguasaan keterampilan attending mahasiswa. Layanan konseling memberikan manfaat dalam meningkatkan pemahaman diri, pengendalian emosi, dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah, namun keterbukaan siswa masih rendah karena kurangnya kehangatan hubungan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan evaluasi melalui penguatan keterampilan attending, peningkatan kedekatan interpersonal, penggunaan komunikasi yang adaptif, refleksi melalui supervisi serta pembekalan yang sistematis sebelum praktik lapangan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of time management and family support on students’ thesis completion. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of final-year students of IAIN Kerinci who were completing their theses, with 102 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale and analyzed using simple regression and multiple linear regression. The results revealed that time management had a positive and significant effect on thesis completion, with a regression coefficient of 0.507 and a significance value of 0.000. Family support also showed a positive and significant effect, with a regression coefficient of 0.475 and a significance value of 0.000. Simultaneously, both variables had a positive and significant influence on students’ thesis completion. These findings indicate that successful thesis completion is determined not only by academic ability but also by effective time management skills and adequate family support.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the psychological well-being of individuals with thalassemia major from the perspective of Islamic Guidance and Counseling. This topic is important to study because individuals with thalassemia major must undergo regular blood transfusions and face various physical, psychological, and social challenges that have the potential to affect their quality of life. This study is based on the assumption that individuals with thalassemia major can still build psychological well-being through the process of self-adaptation, social support, and the reinforcement of religious values in their lives. The study employs a qualitative approach using the phenomenological method to understand the subjective experiences of individuals living with major thalassemia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three informants living with major thalassemia and analyzed based on the dimensions of psychological well-being proposed by Carol D. Ryff. The results indicate that the informants were able to develop psychological well-being through self-acceptance of their health condition, supportive social relationships, autonomy in decision-making, the ability to manage daily activities, having a sense of purpose, and experiencing personal growth reinforced by religiosity and family support. These findings indicate that the integration of social support and spiritual values plays a significant role in fostering the psychological well-being of individuals with thalassemia major, thereby offering implications for the development of Islamic guidance and counseling services for individuals with chronic illnesses.

Abstract

Arranged marriages are still a common practice in Indonesian society and are often associated with the dynamics of marital happiness. This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity and self-compassion on the quality of happiness of couples who married through arranged marriages. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational survey design involving 53 married couples who were arranged to marry in Kerinci Regency, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires on religiosity, self-compassion, and happiness quality, then analyzed using simple regression and multiple linear regression. The results show that religiosity and self-compassion each have a positive and significant effect on happiness quality and simultaneously contribute significantly with a coefficient of determination of 67.8%. The conclusion of this study confirms that religiosity and self-compassion are important factors in improving the quality of happiness of arranged couples through strengthening the meaning of life, self-acceptance, emotional regulation, and marital commitment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the high level of digital stress among students of SMP Negeri Satu Tompobulu, characterized by anxiety, mental fatigue, and difficulty managing time and focus due to excessive use of digital devices. This study used a quasi-experimental research type with a pretest–posttest control group design. The pretest results showed that twenty-three students (seventy-three percent) were in the high digital stress category, five students (sixteen percent) were in the medium category, and four students (twelve percent) were in the low category. Students with high digital stress exhibited behaviors such as frequently feeling anxious if they did not check their phones, difficulty focusing while studying, easily becoming mentally tired, restless when not online, and being distracted by social media notifications. Meanwhile, students with low digital stress exhibited behaviors that were able to control their phone use, not feeling pressured by notifications, remaining focused while studying, and being able to limit their time using digital media. The application of mindfulness techniques through group counseling carried out through the stages of group formation, session opening and group agreement, identification of emotions, thoughts, and digital stress triggers, providing an introduction to mindfulness, conscious breathing exercises, observing thoughts and feelings without judgment, reflecting on experiences, and evaluating and strengthening coping skills has proven effective in increasing students' self-awareness and reducing digital stress. The posttest results showed a decrease in digital stress scores in the experimental group compared to the control group. Based on the results of statistical tests (paired samples test and independent samples t-test), mindfulness techniques have proven to have a significant effect in reducing digital stress in students of SMP Negeri Satu Tompobulu.
