Abstract

Water is an essential need for all living things on earth. For industrial activities, water has an important role for production and non-production activities. The use of water at a paper company in Karawang is required around 7000 m3 per day. So that the company is required to have a water treatment plant to meet the needs of production and non-production water. The function of the raw water treatment plant (Raw water Treatment) in the company aims to get good water quality from its water source, namely Citarum river water. So it is necessary to analyze the condition of the water first by means of the Jar test. With the Jar test, the optimum dose can be determined in the addition of coagulant and flocculant solutions. In addition, the jar test with the addition of flocculants and coagulants can also reduce the pH and turibidity of raw water. From the results of statistical tests using a paired sample test, pH and Turbidity levels have a significant change with a value of (Sig.) < 0.05, so H0 is rejected. The method of adding flocculants and coagulants with the Jar Test method can reduce pH levels of 10% and Turbidity of 95%.

Abstract

The furniture industry is experiencing the problem of uncertainty in determining the optimal amount of wood raw material inventory. Fuzzy logic is one of the methods used to analyze systems that contain uncertainty. This study discusses the application of fuzzy logic in solving the problem of supplying wood raw materials in the furniture industry with the Fuzzy-Mamdani approach. The data used in this study are data on the entry, distribution, and supply of wood raw materials from January to December 2018. The design of the system to obtain output is carried out in the following stages: (a) Formation of fuzzy sets, (b) Application of functions implications, (c) Composition of rules, (d) Affirmation (defuzzification). Solving the problem using the Fuzzy Tsukamoto method is carried out by the Tsukamoto method with the help of Visual Basic software so that the desired results will be obtained on the output variable. From the results of calculations using the Fuzzy Tsukamoto method, it can be analyzed that the comparison between the realized wood raw material inventory with the Fuzzy Tsukamoto approach looks different and the results from the Fuzzy Tsukamoto approach are more optimal.

Abstract

Scheduling is the allocation of limited resources to do a number of jobs. Problems arise when at certain stages of operation some or all of the work requires the same work station. PT XYZ is a service company engaged in electro plating, where the work process is carried out when receiving a request from the customer. The arrival of products from customers who are late and other things will affect the process of working on the products to be plated so that the schedule for sending back products that have been platted is not on schedule while the company does not have inventory. Therefore, a good production machine scheduling optimization will be able to produce good processing time. In addition to knowing the number of machines and jobs as well as the number and sequence of their production processes, research is also carried out by calculating the processing time of each job. Based on the comparison between the best iterations of CDS and the company's FSCS method, it is known that there is a difference in makespan time of 46990 seconds or about 13.05 hours and a flowtime difference of 216380 seconds or about 60.1 hours.

Abstract

The cement bagging process at PT Semen Bosowa Banyuwangi is still done simply using a check sheet. The percentage of defective products based on observational data on January 10-February 5 2020 is 0.39% which is at the four sigma level (4σ). This study focused on controlling the quality of the Bosowa Cement bagging process using the Six Sigma method with the DMAIC approach (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) which aims to help control the quality of cement bags by reducing the number of defective products to reach the six sigma level (6σ). By using the tools CTQ, P-Chart, Sigma Level, Pareto Diagram, Fishbone Diagram and FMEA, the potential causes of damage that often occur diverter valve is problematic, and the position of the bag is stuck. saddle bag is not precise. Based on the cause of the damage, a solution was found in the form of routine preventive maintenance on each equipment in the packer area and inspections and sampling tests for the quality of the cement bags to be used.

Abstract

Supplier performance appraisal is an important decision in a company, because it will increase the company's competitiveness in the face of highly competitive business competition. PT. JQK is currently selecting suppliers who will supply mahogany wood raw materials with five suppliers, namely Manggala Jati, UD. Jati Mukti, “Mukti” Teak Wood Shop, Gunung Hijau, and Indah Sentosa. In this study, the best supplier performance assessment used the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. This method is based on the concept of pairwise comparison for each existing hierarchy in the existing hierarchical structure. The criteria used in this selection are 3 criteria and 6 sub-criteria that support each criterion. The criteria that can be used for supplier performance assessment are time, quality, and price. Sub-criteria that can be used in evaluating supplier performance are on time delivery, lead time, specifications of raw materials, quantity of raw materials, purchase price of raw materials, and transportation costs. Based on calculations using the AHP method, the supplier with the best value is the “Indah Sentosa” supplier, whose value is 0.344 or 34.420%.

Abstract

Ali's cake (ledram) is one of Karawang's specialty foods which is shaped like a donut made from a mixture of rice flour, coconut milk, and brown sugar. The steps for making Ali cake (ledram) start from preparing the ingredients, cooking coconut milk, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Next is the process of mixing rice flour into the coconut milk and sugar mixture, then proceed with the cake molding process and the frying process. The last stage of making Ali cake (ledram) is the packaging and shipping process. From the results of observations in the field, then an analysis was carried out for making conceptual models and simulations. The simulation of the Ali cake production process (ledram) was carried out using ProModel software. The simulation results show a high rate of cake delivery failure. Next, a repair scenario is made for the system that is already running, namely by adding man power. The simulation results of the improvement system show that there is no delivery failure in the cake delivery process flow. The transfer process of ready-to-pack cakes to ready-to-deliver cakes is smooth, there is no buildup or over capacity.

Abstract

Raw material inventory is an important factor in the production process. Lack of raw materials will result in delays in the production process, on the other hand, excess raw materials will result in swelling storage costs and other costs. Through optimal inventory control, companies can determine the right order quantity by minimizing inventory costs. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the raw material inventory control implemented by PT. XYZ. This type of research is quantitative descriptive by describing how the company applies raw material inventory control through the data obtained and analyzed using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method. The data used are primary data in the form of analysis and interviews. From the results of the calculation of the EOQ method and the policies carried out by the company, there is a significant difference in the cost of ordering Polypropyline, Caco3, and Additives raw materials with a cost difference of 40%. Therefore, the company can use a control strategy for ordering raw materials with the EOQ method for raw materials for Woven production that have experienced optimal expenditure compared to the strategies used by the previous company.

Abstract

Digital Control System (DCS) is a very important tool for manufacturing companies that implement automation systems in their production processes, so companies must be careful when deciding to purchase DCS tools offered by vendors. This study aims to compare two Digital Control System (DCS) devices from international suppliers using temperature comparison variables, data processing speed and data transfer speed. After the data collected is tested for validity and reliability, then a T test is carried out to compare these variables and a direct comparison of the material specifications of the two tools is carried out. The results of the Benchmarking study are that there is a difference in the temperature and data processing speed variables between the two DCS devices, while for the data transfer rate variable there is no difference. This difference occurs because the data computing process is more and more data computing is needed, the temperature will increase and for data processing speed there is no difference because it uses the same technology. To improve the capabilities of the DCS tool, it is necessary to redesign for the controller, design panels and use the latest data transfer technology and data security systems in data transfer.
