Abstract

Heroism reflects values such as empathy, sacrifice, love, and courage, which positively impact communities. Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, contributing IDR 8,573.89 trillion to the GDP and employing 97% of the workforce, can be regarded as unsung heroes due to their significant role in enhancing societal welfare. Digitalization is a crucial element in empowering MSMEs, with a reported 30% increase in income for those adopting digital platforms. This study analyzes the YouTube video "Unseen Heroes: Srikandi Penerus Tradisi," which tells the story of Ni Made Rini Wahyuni, a Balinese MSME entrepreneur. Using Roland Barthes' semiotics, the study explores heroism values through the concepts of denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings reveal that Ni Made’s journey exemplifies heroism in preserving traditions while leveraging modern technology. The video portrays MSMEs as everyday heroes playing a vital role in social and economic transformation.

Abstract

The use of social media is currently increasing, the habit of using one of the social media has an impact on the fear of being left behind or called the fear of missing out on social media users. This study fills the research gap in the psychological literature by validating the influence between social comparison and Fomo in the presence of self-control as a moderator. The purpose of this study is to look at the role of self-control as a moderator variable between the influence of social comparison on Fomo among 281 social media users. The population in this study were students who used social media aged 19-24 years. The measuring instruments used are the Fomo scale, social comparison and self-control. The data processor used is the Structural Equation Model (SEM) path analysis method with the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The results of the analysis show that social comparison has an influence on fomo, self-control affects fomo and self-control is able to moderate the influence of social comparison on fear of missing out.

Abstract

The campaign stage in the implementation of the election is one of the important stages for election participants. This campaign stage conveys the vision, mission, and flagship programs of each presidential and vice-presidential candidate, one of which is presented through a public debate. The use of various political communication strategies in the campaign will be carried out by each candidate to gain support from the wider community, including a negative campaign approach. This research is qualitative research with a literature study approach. This research highlights the phenomenon of symbolic attacks in implementing the 3rd Public Debate, the 2024 election. This phenomenon is one of the political communication strategies in the campaign, to reduce the credibility of the candidate being attacked, thereby reducing public trust in the candidate. This study looks at the low level of public satisfaction with presidential candidate number 2 from his appearance in the third public debate. The low level of public satisfaction with presidential candidate number 2 is a sign that the symbolic attacks carried out by presidential candidates’ number 1 and 3 in the public debate are not just criticism of the performance of presidential candidate number 2, but also show the success of the symbolic attacks in influencing public perception. Meanwhile, this symbolic attack phenomenon can also cause prolonged polarization in society or between supporters, which ultimately affects community life in the social environment.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the management of Quality Control (QC) in television stations, particularly in entertainment programs such as soap operas, to maintain broadcast quality and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards. SCTV's soap opera programs are aired during prime time, making the QC division play a strategic role in ensuring that broadcasts meet quality standards and broadcasting regulations, including P3SPS. The research employs Peter K. Pringle's strategic management theory, which includes planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision stages. A qualitative approach with a case study method is used. Data were collected through participatory observation and interviews with the head of the Programming Services division, the head of the QC division, and one QC staff member at SCTV Tower. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that SCTV's QC division has successfully implemented broadcasting management strategies. The key to success lies in adherence to established SOPs and effective communication between the division head and QC crew. This research provides significant insights into how QC management contributes to maintaining the quality of soap opera broadcasts while complying with broadcasting regulations in the television industry.

Abstract

Sustainable Tourism can be defined as a tourism concept that is expected to ensure the preservation and authenticity of natural resources. It is a development concept of sustainable development that includes economic, sociocultural, and environmental aspects in order to meet the needs of the present without reducing the fulfillment of the needs of future generations and can form a society that is adaptive to the environment and interacts with each other. Online media is important in its implementation, so this research looks at how social media can be a step in sustainable tourism. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method in which the object of research is the management of social media as sustainable tourism. The results of the study found that the village of Pulau Gadang in managing social media as sustainable tourism is as a validity tool and village promotion, education as a principle of sustainability, community and collaboration, responsible tourism management, interaction, evaluation and reciprocity.

Abstract

This study is based on the issue of dynasty politics that emerged when President Joko Widodo was in power, with Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Jokowi's son, elected as Mayor of Solo in 2020, triggering speculation of dynasty politics and a possible candidacy as Vice President in 2024. This study aims to analyze two online media, tempo.co and tvonenews.com, in framing news before presenting it to the public and finding commodification in reporting on Jokowi's dynasty politics in the 2024 Presidential Election. The qualitative research method with data analysis techniques uses the Robert Mathew Entman framing model and Vincent Mosco's Commodification. The results of the research analysis found that the framing and commodification of online media, tempo.co and tvonenews.com, differ significantly in packaging and reporting news about Jokowi's dynasty politics in the 2024 Presidential Election. Tempo.co's framing focuses more on the social and ethical impacts of dynasty politics, with an emphasis on criticism of nepotism and the negative impacts that may arise for society in a democratic country. On the other hand, tvonenews.com framing focuses more on practical political aspects, including Gibran's candidacy steps and gives the impression that the issue of dynasty politics is commonplace and does not need to be a problem. Tempo.co's commodification focuses more on the quality of content and in-depth and critical analysis. While tvonenews.com's commodification focuses more on fast and sensational news to attract instant attention.

Abstract

Social media has become a digital public space that fosters massive and spontaneous digital activism. This study aims to analyze public sentiment in the case of the viral video of Gus Miftah joking with an iced tea seller while preaching. The incident prompted widespread public discussion on social media, affecting Gus Miftah's reputation as a state figure and state official, leading to his resignation from the position of Special Presidential Envoy for Religious Harmony. This research method applies a quantitative approach with sentiment analysis based on big data of digital footprints on social media with Brand24 software. Researchers used the keywords "Gus Miftah" and "ice seller" in collecting data during December 1-15, 2024. The results showed a total of 6,519 mentions on social media with the highest number of mentions on Youtube, followed by X (Twitter), TikTok, and Facebook. The majority of sentiment was negative (80%), while positive sentiment was only 20%. This study shows a relationship between viral content, public opinion, and its impact on political decisions.

Abstract

Fenomena demonstrasi besar di Indonesia pada Agustus - September 2025 dipicu oleh kenaikan tunjangan DPR menjadi bukti nyata bagaimana media digital membingkai informasi. Kondisi ini diperkuat oleh langkah pemerintah yang membatasi akses media sosial melalui penghentian layanan TikTok Live serta sensor terhadap konten di Instagram dan YouTube. Akibatnya, publik hanya menerima pemberitaan dari media digital yang menonjolkan informsai kerusuhan dan ancaman keamanan, sementara ruang komunikasi terkait tuntutan masyarakat dihilangkan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguraikan pola framing yang digunakan media serta menjelaskan konsekuensinya terhadap demokrasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori framing Robert N. Entman yang menekankan empat fungsi utama framing, yaitu pendefinisian masalah, diagnosis penyebab, penilaian moral, dan rekomendasi solusi. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif melalui studi dokumentasi pemberitaan media digital dan media sosial terkait demonstrasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa framing media menempatkan demonstrasi sebagai tindakan anarkis yang mengancam ketertiban, dengan demonstran diposisikan sebagai penyebab kerusuhan. Pemerintah memperkuat narasi ini dengan pembatasan media sosial, sehingga ruang komunikasi publik menyempit dan suara kritis sulit terdengar. Kesimpulannya, framing media digital dan pembungkaman media sosial tidak hanya menciptakan persepsi publik yang timpang, tetapi juga berpotensi mengikis kebebasan berekspresi dan melemahkan kualitas demokrasi di Indonesia.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving digital era, information technology presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly in the context of data security. This study focuses on the role of public relations at the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) in managing crisis communications arising from the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) data leak incident. This case attracted public attention because it involved a ransomware cyberattack that significantly impacted more than 210 government agencies. This situation demands an effective, swift, and transparent communication strategy to maintain public trust in government institutions. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with the Kemkomdigi Public Relations Bureau. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Kemkomdigi did not employ denial or diminish strategies. Instead, they emphasized rebuilding and bolstering strategies as proposed in Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT). The implementation of these strategies is evident in official apologies, open clarifications, consistent digital information delivery, and strengthening the institutional narrative through press conferences and official communication channels. Thus, this study concludes that appropriate crisis communication strategies contribute significantly to maintaining the government's reputation and credibility in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how the news framing of the 'Grup Fantasi Sedarah' case is carried out by two national online media outlets, Detik.com and Kompas.com. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method with Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis model. The study focuses on four framing elements: Define Problems, Diagnose Causes, Make Moral Judgement, and Treatment Recommendation. The results show that Detik.com emphasizes problem definition and solutions using straightforward language, while Kompas.com focuses more on causes and moral evaluations with a more analytical and cautious writing style. Both media exhibit different ideological tendencies in constructing moral deviation issues in the digital sphere. These findings illustrate how media shape public perception through the way news is presented.
