Abstract

This study aims to design and build a rubber material mixing machine using an anthropometric approach to improve work time efficiency at CV. Nur Hidayah. The main problem faced is that the rubber material mixing process is still done manually, so it takes a long time, a large workforce, and has the potential to cause fatigue and the risk of work injuries. The method used in this study is an engineering design method with an anthropometric approach, namely adjusting the dimensions of the machine to the worker's body size to create comfort and work efficiency. The data required are worker data, worker anthropometric data, and cost data. The results obtained for the body measurements used include a standing elbow height of 101 cm, a forward arm reach length of 70 cm, a knee height of 51 cm, and a hand span length of 149 cm. Before the machine was installed, CV. Nur Hidayah still manually mixed rubber tacks with a process time of approximately 58 minutes. After the mixing machine was designed and implemented, the mixing time was successfully shortened to approximately 15 minutes.

Abstract

This study analyzes the financial feasibility and sensitivity of PT. XYZ’s hydroponic business in Bogor Regency against production cost escalations. Primary and secondary data were evaluated using Net Present Value (NPV), Gross Benefit-Cost Ratio, Net Benefit-Cost Ratio, Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period. Sensitivity analysis was simulated across 10%, 15%, and 20% cost increase scenarios. Initial results confirm investment feasibility, yielding an NPV of IDR 71,592,208 and an IRR of 10.54%. However, profitability proves highly vulnerable. Under a 20% operational cost increase, the business reaches the feasibility threshold, suffering a 33.81% drop in NPV. While fundamentally viable, maintaining operational stability requires strict management control over the input cost structure.

Abstract

Material handling activities at UMKM Kerupuk Mawar are still carried out semi-manually, resulting in poor ergonomic working postures and potentially causing Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). This study aims to design an ergonomic trolley to improve the efficiency of raw material movement and reduce workers' physical workload. The methods used were Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) to evaluate work posture risks and an anthropometric approach to determine the trolley dimensions. The results showed that the ergonomic trolley design has a handle height of 107 cm and a handle diameter of 5 cm based on workers' anthropometric data. The implementation of the ergonomic trolley reduced the REBA score for loading activities from 4 to 3 and raw material lifting activities from 8 to 2. Furthermore, the material handling time decreased from 81.80 seconds to 60.75 seconds, the carrying capacity increased from 2 to 4 sacks, and the handling frequency decreased from 15 to 8 cycles

Abstract

PT XYZ faces challenges in achieving the daily production targets of folding chairs and stacking chairs due to the accumulation of Work in Process (WIP), unbalanced workloads among workstations, and high waiting times during the production process. This study aims to identify waste and analyze production line balance to improve production efficiency. The research was conducted on the folding chair and stacking chair production lines using the Lean Manufacturing approach with Process Activity Mapping (PAM) and Line Balancing methods. PAM was applied to identify Value Added (VA), Non-Value Added (NVA), and Necessary Non-Value Added (NNVA) activities, while Line Balancing was used to evaluate workload distribution among workstations. The results indicate that the largest wastes occur in waiting and inventory activities, particularly in the chrome-plating process, which causes waiting times of up to three days. Improvements through workload balancing and the reduction of non-value-added activities were able to increase efficiency and improve production flow, enabling production targets to be achieved more effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of wood ash and the combination of wood ash with Bacillus subtilis as soil stabilizing agents on the compaction value (Proctor Test) and unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of soft clay soil. Soil samples were collected from Ploso Village, Wonoayu District, Sidoarjo Regency, which is characterized by high-plasticity organic clay with low bearing capacity. The test results revealed that the addition of wood ash increased the maximum dry density (MDD) from 1.446 gr/cm³ in natural soil to 2.036 gr/cm³ at 15% mixture, while the optimum moisture content (OMC) decreased from 27% to 20%. UCS also improved from 0.29981 kg/cm² in natural soil to 0.523213 kg/cm² at 15% mixture. Furthermore, the combination of wood ash with 5% Bacillus subtilis produced more significant results, with MDD reaching 2.047 gr/cm³, OMC reduced to 22%, and UCS increasing to 0.66386 kg/cm². These findings confirm that wood ash is effective as an eco-friendly stabilizing material, and its combination with Bacillus subtilis can further enhance the physical and mechanical properties of soft clay soil.

Abstract

UD XYZ is a company engaged in the metal industry, with its main product being wheeldops (wheel covers). The main problem faced by the company is the lack of raw material inventory planning for steel plates, resulting in stockouts that disrupt the production process and delay order fulfillment. This study aims to determine the optimal order quantity, appropriate reorder timing, and the required level of safety stock to minimize the risk of stockouts and inventory costs. The methods used in this study are the Continuous Review System (CRS) and the Periodic Review System (PRS). Based on the comparison results, CRS has a lower total inventory cost of Rp 1,712,173,383 compared to PRS. The model was then developed into a Continuous Review System with Backorder by considering a backorder cost of Rp 295,000 per sheet, resulting in an order quantity of 424 sheets, a safety stock of 83 sheets, and a reorder point of 120 sheets. This policy is intended to anticipate the risk of stockouts caused by raw material delivery delays during the lead time.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is a firm that works in the steel and building construction industry. Throughout its manufacturing operations, the company has encountered ongoing difficulties in meeting production targets consistently, resulting in reduced productivity performance. This study aims to evaluate productivity levels through the Objective Matrix (OMAX) method, with the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) applied to determine and prioritize the relevant productivity indicators. In addition, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is employed to investigate the underlying factors contributing to the company's productivity issues. The results of the study show that productivity indicators fluctuated during the measurement period. October recorded the highest productivity level at a productivity index of 105%, while November recorded the lowest productivity level at -3%. The AHP weighting results showed that Ratio 1 and Ratio 5 had the highest weights, achieving the lowest performance compared to the other ratios. Based on the RCA analysis and the fishbone diagram, the causes of low productivity stemmed from human, machine, material, and working condition factors. The root causes were then analyzed using the 5 Whys method to determine proposed improvements aimed at increasing the company’s productivity
