Abstract

The adoption of Nature Based Solutions for infrastructure projects demands a management approach capable of responding to dynamic environmental conditions. This qualitative literature study explores how agile management principles can be adapted for NbS project execution. The analysis covers iterative planning, cross functional team structures, high frequency monitoring, flexible budgeting, and responsive procurement procedures. Findings indicate that successful implementation requires simultaneous reform across all five aspects due to their interdependencies. Conventional project management frameworks embedded in government regulations present significant barriers to agility. The study proposes a conceptual framework for agile management in NbS projects that can serve as a reference for policymakers and project managers. This framework prioritizes value based measurement of success over adherence to initial plans. Technology integration particularly environmental sensors and drone based monitoring emerges as a critical enabler for rapid response capabilities. The conclusions suggest revising existing infrastructure project guidelines to accommodate iterative planning and flexible resource allocation.

Abstract

Construction machinery fleets consume substantial diesel fuel and produce significant emissions. Two approaches fuel efficiency through driver behavior change and alternative fuel supply chain management are examined separately. This qualitative literature study explores how eco-driving techniques and alternative fuel logistics can work together to reduce fuel consumption on construction projects. Eco-driving tailored to earthmoving equipment yields savings between five to fifteen percent. Biodiesel blends above B40 require engine modifications but reduce carbon emissions. Compressed natural gas offers stable fuel pricing but demands high pressure storage infrastructure. Supply chain optimization including demand forecasting, real time inventory monitoring, and scheduled deliveries prevents fuel shortages. Integration of driving data with logistics planning creates synergy that outperforms standalone applications. Management commitment and operator incentives are critical success factors.

Abstract

The powder coating process in automotive component production plays a critical role in determining final product quality. CV Aji Batara Perkasa Mandiri faces high product defect rates (average 11.22%) in the finishing process. This study aims to optimize powder coating process parameters (pretreatment stages, spray gun pressure, nozzle distance, and curing oven temperature) to simultaneously minimize Defect Rate, Rework Rate, and Scrap Rate, and calculate Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) savings. The method used is the integration of the Taguchi Method and Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) with an L9(3⁴) Orthogonal Array experimental design. Results show that the pretreatment factor is the most dominant parameter (41.09% contribution). The optimal parameter combination obtained is A2B2C3D1 (5-stage pretreatment, 2.5 bar pressure, 25 cm nozzle distance, and 160°C curing temperature). Implementation of these parameters successfully reduced the defect rate to 5.93% (56.46% reduction) and achieved COPQ savings of Rp 23,331,167 per month (61.51%).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of price, delivery delays, and brand image on customer satisfaction at PT XYZ. This research uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. Data were collected through a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire distributed online to 113 respondents who had used PT XYZ services at least twice in the past six months. The results show that price and brand image have a significant effect on customer satisfaction, while delivery delays do not have a significant effect at the 5% significance level. Simultaneously, the three variables explain 83.2% of the variation in customer satisfaction. These findings emphasize the importance of competitive pricing, operational efficiency, and a strong brand image in improving customer satisfaction.

Abstract

The spare parts warehouse plays an important role in supporting the smooth operation of aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) activities. This study aims to analyze the spare parts warehouse management at PT XYZ and evaluate the implementation of the 5S method to improve operational efficiency. A qualitative approach was employed through participant observation and documentation during an internship program. The results indicate that, prior to the implementation of 5S, the warehouse faced several issues, including a non-integrated recording system, unstructured storage layout, and the presence of unidentified spare parts (anonymous parts). These conditions resulted in longer spare part retrieval times, increased waste, and potential delays in aircraft maintenance processes. The implementation of the 5S method improved warehouse organization, spare part identification, and material accessibility and control, thereby enhancing operational efficiency. Continuous monitoring and evaluation are required to sustain and further improve the achieved results.

Abstract

An inappropriate facility layout may hinder coordination and reduce operational effectiveness within a company. This study aims to redesign the facility layout at PT. XYZ using the Activity Relationship Chart (ARC), Activity Relationship Diagram (ARD), and Space Relationship Diagram (SRD) methods. A descriptive quantitative approach with Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) was employed. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of the existing facility layout. The results indicate that the closeness relationships among facilities can be systematically identified through ARC and subsequently visualized using ARD and SRD as the basis for developing the proposed layout. The proposed layout places facilities with high activity relationships in closer proximity, making it more suitable for the company’s operational needs. The findings demonstrate that SLP is an effective approach for facility layout redesign.

Abstract

Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum is a regional public utility company that has implemented digital information systems to manage customer data, including the billing data verification process. Despite this digital adoption, the current verification workflow still contains a high proportion of Non-Value Added (NVA) activities due to the absence of automated error filtering, system integration, and manual data copying. This study aims to: (1) map the existing billing verification workflow using a Flow Process Chart (AS-IS); (2) quantify value-added (VA) and non-value-added (NVA) activities and calculate process efficiency; and (3) propose an improved process layout (TO-BE). Data were collected through direct observation of 2,110 customer records during an internship at PDAM. Results show that of seven workflow steps, only two (28.6%) are VA activities, while five (71.4%) are NVA. Time-based Process Efficiency of 58.5% falls below the lean ideal of 60–70%. Proposed improvements—including system integration, auto-fill functionality, and automatic error filtering—are projected to reduce verification time per record by 50–60% and raise the VA ratio to 75%.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a packaging printing company whose production process highly depends on machine performance. One of the critical machines is the Gluer JK-1000, which is used in the folding and gluing stages of packaging production. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Gluer JK-1000 machine using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and to determine an appropriate maintenance strategy through the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) approach. The study utilized operational and production data collected from August to December 2025. The results showed that the Availability Rate, Performance Rate, and Quality Rate were 90.97%, 89.10%, and 87.40%, respectively, resulting in an OEE value of 70.84%, which is below the 85% standard established by the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM). Six Big Losses analysis revealed that Reduced Speed Losses and Setup and Adjustment Losses were the dominant sources of productivity loss, contributing 15.47% and 8.11%, respectively, with a cumulative contribution of 81.95%. FMEA identified critical components consisting of the Feeding Belt (RPN 252), Sensor Gluing (RPN 245), Roller Gluer (RPN 224), and Side Lay Register (RPN 210). Based on the RCM analysis, maintenance recommendations were developed through Time Directed Maintenance and Condition Directed Maintenance approaches, with preventive maintenance intervals determined according to component reliability analysis. The findings can be used as a basis for improving machine reliability and reducing downtime risk in the production process.
