Abstract

PT XYZ is a packaging printing company facing quality problems due to a high defect rate in its printing process. This study aims to identify dominant defects, determine the root causes of defects, and develop improvement recommendations to enhance product quality. The methods employed were Seven Tools consisting of check sheets, stratification, histograms, Pareto diagrams, p-control charts, and fishbone diagrams, combined with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and the 5W+1H approach. The results showed that total defects during July–December 2025 reached 4,320,066 units out of 166,435,973 units produced. The dominant defects were out-of-range color defects (38.39%), dirty printing defects (31.06%), and incorrect design code placement (18.75%), contributing 88.14% of total defects. The p-control chart indicated that the process was not statistically controlled because several observations exceeded the control limits. Improvement recommendations include implementing boundary samples, standardized ink mixing procedures, first product inspection, visual marking, and visual cleaning SOPs to reduce defect levels and improve printing quality.

Abstract

Increasing industrial competition and rising raw material costs are compelling companies to improve production process efficiency by reducing material waste. This study aims to analyze the impact of using an automatic crusher on production process efficiency compared to manual methods, as well as to examine its application within the Lean Manufacturing framework. The research results indicate that crusher automation increases processing capacity from 60–80 kg/hour to 800–1,800 kg/hour and boosts recycled material output from 900–1,500 kg/day to 1,800–2,800 kg/day. The implementation of this technology successfully reduced unmanaged material waste to 5–10 kg/day, trimmed labor requirements from 5 to 4 operators, and eliminated non-value-added activities (waiting and overprocessing). Although there is a trade-off in the form of increased operational electricity costs, the overall improvement in productivity has a significant positive impact on production system efficiency and supports the pillars of Lean Manufacturing through the elimination of waste.

Abstract

The problem of air emulsion in crude oil is a significant challenge in the oil and gas industry because it reduces product quality and process efficiency. This study examined the effectiveness of demulsifiers on different types of crude oil by centrifugation and bottle test methods to separate water-oil emulsions. In Hassi Berkine crude oil, the REB09305 OS deemulsifier is effective at a low dose of 20 ppm with a 100% air discount at room temperature and centrifugation at 1200 rpm for 45 minutes. At the Main Oil Station (MOS) Menggung, the optimal dose of 200 ppm provided the lowest BS&W value of 1.6% using a combination of bottle test and centrifuge methods. In Bentayan oil, the B demulsifier with -OH group showed the best performance at a dose of 30 ppm and a temperature of 60°C with a BS&W of 0.1%. The use of a demulsifier according to specific doses and optimal conditions has been shown to improve the efficiency of emulsion indicators, reduce BS&W and salt content, and reduce the risk of corrosion.

Abstract

The empirical approach to rigid pavement design does not fully capture the actual interaction between the concrete slab and its supporting soil layers, even though this aspect determines the long-term performance of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) feeder access roads that serve heavy vehicles. This study aims to analyze the deformation and soil–structure interaction of rigid pavement using the finite element method through PLAXIS 3D software. The pavement system was modeled as three layers: the subgrade and lean concrete working floor using the Mohr-Coulomb constitutive model, and the concrete slab using elastic plate elements. Material parameters were derived from N-SPT test results and standard empirical correlations. Loading was modeled as four concentrated loads of 53.936 kN/m² representing the four wheels of a truck with a total load of 22 tons, and was simulated through staged construction. The analysis showed a maximum total displacement at the observed node of 0.01776 m (17.76 mm), which remains within the safe limit against deformation failure. These results confirm that the slab thickness designed using the empirical approach is capable of accommodating the vertical deformation caused by heavy vehicle loads, indicating that the numerical and empirical approaches are mutually complementary in ensuring design reliability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of research on floating photovoltaic (FPV) power plants as a sustainable solution for land-limited areas using a bibliometric approach. The analysis shows that 1,423 documents were published during the observation period. The number of publications increased significantly from 2022 to peak in 2025. China was the country with the highest contribution to publications, with research topics dominated by solar energy, renewable energy, and solar power generation.Keyword analysis reveals that major research themes include solar energy, renewable energy, and solar power generation, while floating photovoltaic remains an evolving topic. In addition to addressing land scarcity issues, FPV technology offers additional benefits such as improved solar panel efficiency and reduced water evaporation. However, technical, economic, and environmental challenges remain important concerns for future studies. Overall, FPV demonstrates strong potential as an innovative renewable energy solution that supports sustainable energy development in areas with limited land availability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of machine investment and additional labor investment at UMKM Jamu Wong Jowo using the capital budgeting method and to calculate the Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM) using the full costing method. The company faces limited production capacity due to semi-manual processes, resulting in overtime when demand increases. This research employed Payback Period (PP), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Profitability Index (PI), and sensitivity analysis. The results indicate that machine investment is feasible, with a PP of 0.60 years, NPV of Rp160,997,853.18, IRR of 167%, and PI of 6.36. Additional labor investment is also feasible, with a PP of 0.56 years, NPV of Rp23,293,665, IRR of 179%, and PI of 6.82. Sensitivity analysis confirms the resilience of both investments. The COGM after machine investment is Rp7,781 per bottle, indicating improved efficiency and production capacity.

Abstract

Samesta Kalipuro Banyuwangi's home catfish cultivation startup has experienced an increase in the number of customers after presenting clean catfish products. However, these improvements have not been followed by systematic measurement of customer needs and service quality. This research was conducted to identify customer needs, measure service quality, and determine improvement priorities using Voice of Customer (VoC), Service Quality (SERVQUAL), and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). The study involved 22 customers as respondents. The results show that customers expect faster stock information and harvest schedules as well as increased product variety. SERVQUAL's analysis showed all attributes had negative gap values, with the largest gaps being in RS1 (-1.27), RS2 (-1.05), and E3 (-1.00). The IPA results show R1, RS1, and RS2 as service improvement priorities. In addition, the E3 attribute is also included in the improvement proposal because it has a large gap value. Proposed improvements include improving stock information, order service, product suitability, and developing product variations.

Abstract

Dentists are at high risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) due to prolonged static working postures, repetitive movements, and continuous use of dental instruments. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between ergonomic risk based on working posture using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method and musculoskeletal complaints identified using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) among dentists in Padang City. This research employed a cross-sectional study design involving 35 dentists selected through purposive sampling. The relationship between RULA and NBM scores was analyzed using Spearman’s rank correlation test. The results showed a strong and statistically significant positive correlation between RULA and NBM scores (r = 0.959; p = 0.000). The majority of respondents were classified as having a high ergonomic risk level (62.9%) and a high level of musculoskeletal complaints (62.9%). The highest prevalence of complaints was found in the upper neck (85.7%), lower back (82.9%), and lower neck (80.0%). These findings indicate the need for ergonomic interventions to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders among dentists.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces glass blocks and continues to face quality-related issues, particularly a high number of defects caused by mold disturbances during the production process. The high defect rate indicates that the production process is still subject to significant variation, highlighting the need for a structured quality control system. This study aims to evaluate the process capability of the production system, analyze the defect rate caused by mold disturbances, and implement defect control using the Six Sigma methodology with the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) approach. The results show that the average sigma level of the production process was 3.67, indicating that the primary causes of defects were related to machine, method, and human factors. Based on the analysis, the proposed improvements focused on implementing periodic preventive maintenance for molds, developing a mold inspection checklist, enhancing mold condition monitoring, and providing operator training. The evaluation conducted after the improvement phase demonstrated that the number of defects decreased from 17,027 to 6,693, while the sigma level increased from 3.67 to 4.00, indicating improved process stability and enhanced glass block production quality.

Abstract

Work From Home (WFH) is a new model that is currently beginning to replace the conventional work model. The adoption of WFH has increased significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic and continouos to be implemented by various organizations today because it is seen as a way to increase work flexibility, reduce operational costs, and promote a better work-life-balance. Although it offers flexibility and efficiency, the impelementation of WFH has the potential to increase physical workload resulting from less-than-ergonomic working conditions. This study aims to analyze the implications of WFH on workers’ physical workload from an ergonomic perspective. The method used was literature review with a systematic review based on the SPIDER model (Sample, Phenomenon of Interest, Design, Evaluation, and Research Type). The results show that WFH increases the risk of musculoskeletal disorders, particulary neck pain and lower back pain due to static work posture. The application of ergonomic principles, employee education, and the provision of adequate work facilities are necessary to reduce physical workload and support employee health and productivity while working from home.
