Abstract

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is currently indicated for patients experiencing acute coronary syndrome and individuals with chronic stable angina that is refractory to optimal medical therapy. Advancements in devices, stent design, adjunctive technology, and the development of more potent and effective antiplatelet therapies have contributed to improved outcomes. However, major periprocedural complications during PCI remain a concern, with an overall transulnar access site complication rate of 41%, a vasospasm incidence of 7%, and a hematoma occurrence of 29%. Cold compress application is widely used due to its physiological effects, including vasoconstriction, reduced tissue metabolism, increased blood viscosity, and local anesthetic properties. Cold compresses can decrease blood flow and capillary permeability by inducing arteriolar vasoconstriction, thereby reducing bleeding. Objective: This study aims to examine the implementation of cold compress therapy in preventing hematoma in post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) patients. Methods: This study employs a systematic literature review approach. Data synthesis was conducted by analyzing eight studies that met quality assessment standards and inclusion-exclusion criteria. The databases used for literature retrieval included Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, and ProQuest. The findings were processed and presented in tabular form.Result: Cold compresses can help reduce hematoma and pain after a Percutaneous coronary Intervention (PCI), cold compresses can also help prevent hematomas. How cold compresses help cold compresses vasoconstrict blood vessels and cold compresses speed up blood clotting. Conclusion: The reviewed articles indicate that the application of an ice pack or cold compress is more effective in reducing pain and preventing hematoma caused by catheter removal in patients undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI).

Abstract

This review aimed to investigate the interplay between dietary components and epigenetic modulation in the pathogenesis of hypertension. A comprehensive literature search encompassing all published primary and secondary research dating up to March 2024 was carried out on several electronic databases, including MEDLINE, EBSCO-Host, Science Direct, ProQuest, and Google Scholar. Individual genomes and dietary intake exhibit a bidirectional relationship, influencing the hypertension risk. Unhealthy dietary patterns can compromise DNA integrity through DNA methylation and histone acetylation, ultimately affecting both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Dietary macronutrient composition (carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins) significantly alters the expression of specific microRNAs (miRNAs) known to regulate endothelial function and blood pressure homeostasis. Moreover, micronutrients (vitamin A, D, E, Zinc, Iodine, and Sodium) can exert epigenetic effects on blood pressure via receptor interactions, potentially modifying cardiovascular disease risk. Dietary imbalances in macro and micronutrients can epigenetically influence hypertension development. Addressing these deficiencies through targeted interventions may offer a complementary approach to hypertension treatment.

Abstract

Stigma towards people with mental disorders (ODGJ) is a complex global issue that has a negative impact on patient well-being, access to health services, and their healing process and social integration. This stigma includes various forms of discrimination, stereotypes, and prejudices that can significantly hinder effective treatment of mental disorders. This study aims to provide a comprehensive picture of the stigma of people with mental disorders in various socio-cultural contexts. The literature reviewed in this study explores how stigma is formed, the factors that influence it, and the impact on individuals and communities. This study uses a literature review method by examining scientific articles that discuss the stigma of people with mental disorders in various regions of Indonesia in less than the last 10 years. Results: Data analysis shows that the stigma of people with mental disorders is still quite high, although there is variation between regions and community groups. The results of the study show that stigma against ODGJ is still widely found in Indonesian society. This stigma is influenced by various factors, such as lack of knowledge about mental disorders, cultural values, and social norms. This stigma can have negative impacts on PLWH, such as discrimination, social isolation, and barriers in accessing health services. Increasing public knowledge and understanding of mental disorders through education and public campaigns, as well as culturally sensitive interventions, can help reduce stigma and improve the quality of life of patients with mental disorders. The importance of understanding the stigma picture in this sociocultural context cannot be overstated because interventions designed to reduce stigma must be tailored to local conditions to be effective.

Abstract

Social isolation is a condition in which an individual is unable or has difficulty interacting with people around them. Individuals in this condition may feel alienated, rejected, lonely, and struggle to form meaningful relationships with others. Social Skills Training (SST) is an intervention that utilizes behavior modification techniques through role-playing, practice, and feedback. The goal of SST is to improve an individual's ability to deal with social problems, especially in clients with interaction disorders such as social isolation and anxiety. This therapy helps develop important communication and social skills needed in everyday life. This study used a systematic literature review method by analyzing 13 relevant journal articles published between 2020 and 2025. The results showed that SST was effective in improving social interactions in patients with social isolation. This therapy helps patients develop communication skills, reduce psychological symptoms, and improve cognitive function and social behavior. SST functions as an appropriate nursing intervention to help patients solve problems and build better social relationships.
