Abstract

This study was conducted because the observations at Az-Zakiyah Islamic School showed that many students were less active and motivated in Arabic classes, caused by factors such as lack of interest, and ineffective learning methods. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the STAD (Student Team Achievement Division) learning model in learning the Arabic language in class VIII students of Az-Zakiyah Islamic School. This study used a pseudo-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. In this design, the researcher measured the dependent variable (student learning outcomes) twice: once before the application of the STAD model (pre-test) and once after the application of the STAD model (post-test) to see changes in student learning outcomes in response to the intervention that the researcher conducted. The instruments included learning achievement tests (pre-test and post-test) and classroom observation sheets. The pre-test was used to obtain a baseline of students' level of understanding before the intervention. In contrast, the post-test was used to evaluate the impact of the intervention on students' learning outcomes after the implementation of the STAD learning model. The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes after the implementation of the STAD learning model. The mean score of students' pre-test was 61, while the post-test score increased to 73, indicating a 19% increase in effectiveness. Statistical analysis with a t-test for paired samples showed that the difference in pre-test and post-test scores was significant (t(19) = -10.162, p < 0.05). Classroom observations and interviews showed that the STAD model increased students' participation and cooperation in the learning process. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the STAD learning model is effective in improving students' Arabic language learning outcomes in class VIII of Az-Zakiyah Islamic School.

Abstract

The increasing demand for Arabic proficiency among students in Islamic boarding schools highlights the need to investigate the management of Arabic language programs to ensure effective learning outcomes. This study addresses the importance of investigating the management of Arabic language programs in Islamic boarding schools. Specifically, it focuses on Mambaus Sholihin and Al-Falah, renowned pesantrens with exceptional Arabic language programs in their respective regions. By comparing the planning, implementation, and evaluation aspects of these programs, valuable insights can be derived both internally and externally. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research employs a comparative case study design, utilizing data collection methods such as observation and interviews. The data is analyzed through transcription, data reduction, and integration of interview and observation data. The reasearch finds: 1) Planning: The program is systematically designed in both institutions. There are variations in the forms of learning activities between the two institutions, but the learning objectives are the same. The selection process for tutors differs between the pesantrens. 2) Implementation: The program is implemented using direct and drill methods in both institutions. Although the learning materials differ, they are aligned with the curriculum of Pondok Modern Gontor. The use of electronic media in learning is limited and infrequent. 3) Evaluation: The evaluation of both program and learning in both institutions is lacking structured and systematic approaches, resulting in a lack of measurable progress in learning. The planning and implementation of Arabic language programs at Al-Falah are more responsive to student needs compared to Mambaus Sholihin. However, both institutions lack optimal evaluation and rely on subjective observations, highlighting the need for objective evaluation methods.

Abstract

Over time, various advanced technologies continue to emerge worldwide. Existing technologies also keep enhancing human life, making it more practical and convenient. In the field of education, for instance, there are numerous technologies accessible to students to improve their understanding of the subjects being studied. However, most of these technologies remain underutilized by learners despite their great potential to assist them. One example is AI technology on the ChatGPT website, which can function as a self-learning platform for studying foreign languages, including Arabic. Based on this premise, this research aims to explore and identify the features of ChatGPT that can support independent Arabic language learning. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research method by collecting data directly from the ChatGPT website and then analyzing and describing the findings. The research findings reveal that the ChatGPT website can serve as a medium for independent Arabic language learning through various features, including planning the Arabic learning process, practicing writing skills, enriching vocabulary and expressions in Arabic, translating texts, correcting writing errors, creating Arabic language test simulations, explaining language rules, and serving as a platform for Arabic language games.

Abstract

Many content creators via platforms like YouTube share their work on social media and produce content in Arabic, including a Japanese creator, Hunā al-Yābān. In some of the uploaded videos, researchers have found indications of phonological interference. This article aims to investigate the Arabic phonetic interference in the content produced by the creators of Hunā al-Yābān on the YouTube platform. This article uses the method of listening and text analysis in its implementation. This article aims to provide a comprehensive insight into the effects of phonological interference on language production in digital environments, particularly on the YouTube platform, and its implications for non-native Arabic-speaking content creators and Arabic language educators. A total of 14 data points were analyzed using an error analysis framework from a phonological perspective. The results identified three types of phonological interference: vowel changes, consonant changes, and consonant omissions. These interferences occur when non-native speakers produce Arabic sounds using phonological patterns influenced by their first language, in this case, Japanese.

Abstract

The basis of this research is the importance of gender equality in the preparation of teaching materials, especially in textbooks used at the primary education level. Gender-biased textbooks can influence the way students view the social roles of men and women from an early age. This study aimed to identify and analyze gender bias and gender justice values contained in the Ministry of Religion's Arabic Language Student Book Class I MI 2020. This research is a literature study with a qualitative descriptive approach. The main data source comes from the Ministry of Religion's 2020 Arabic Student Book for Grade I MI. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation and observation, while data analysis techniques used qualitative analysis. To ensure data validity, triangulation techniques were used. The results showed that there are still quite a lot of gender inequality in the book, including material that contains explicit examples of gender subordination. However, the book also contains some content that reflects the values of gender equality. The implication of this finding emphasizes the importance of the teacher's role in selecting and critically addressing learning content. Teachers are expected to be more vigilant and selective in using textbooks, and be able to provide students with a fair and equal understanding of gender roles in society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning model approach in improving students' Arabic learning motivation in the Zaid Bin Tsabit unit, Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, Probolinggo. Arabic has a strategic position in Islamic education, but students' learning motivation is often low due to less varied learning methods and limited teacher-student relations. The Islamic boarding school environment as a center for religious education needs to present adaptive and contextual learning strategies. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data are analyzed interactively through reduction, presentation, and verification to explore the findings in depth. The results of the study indicate that the teacher's personal and relational approach plays an important role in building supportive and inclusive relationships, thus encouraging student interest; Varied and innovative learning methods such as taqdimul qissoh, khitobah, and qira'atul syi'ir are able to enrich vocabulary, train speaking courage, and improve text comprehension; and the need to strengthen teacher capacity through pedagogical training and the provision of extracurricular activities to support learning motivation. This study contributes to the development of practice-based Arabic language learning strategies that are relevant to students' spiritual and academic needs, and recommends further studies with a mixed approach in diverse pesantren contexts.

Abstract

The advancement of educational quality in Indonesia has been marked by the implementation of various curricula, including the Independent Study Curriculum, which grants greater flexibility in the selection of learning strategies and materials, particularly in Arabic language instruction. This study aims to investigate the enhancement of Arabic language learning quality at Bina Insani Islamic Junior High School Surabaya, through the application of the Independent Study Curriculum. The method employed is qualitative research design with a case study approach, data were gathered via classroom observations, teacher interviews, and analysis of student performance evaluations. Among the various pedagogical models integrated into the curriculum, project based learning has emerged as a prominent instructional strategy applied by Arabic teachers. The findings reveal that this approach significantly increases student engagement, fosters contextual and meaningful language comprehension, and enables teachers to adapt instruction to students' diverse linguistic backgrounds and learning levels. Furthermore, the implementation of the Independent Study Curriculum contributes to consistent and equitable academic performance across student groups. This research provides practical implications for Arabic language educators seeking to apply flexible and differentiated models under national curriculum frameworks, while also contributing to scholarly discourse on curriculum innovation and contextualized language pedagogy.

Abstract

Balaghah in literary works plays an important role in beautifying a sentence in Arabic. One of the elements in Balaghah is jinas, which is the harmony of sound between two words with different meanings. This research aims to examine the concept of jinas found in the book History of Arabic Literature for 6th grade, which is used as a textbook at the Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. The form of this research is literature study, which involves collecting several books related to this title, as well as using a qualitative approach. This research analyzes the science of bahaghah specifically jinas, with a focus on words that contain jinas elements. The method used by the researcher in collecting data is by identifying words that contain jinas, then analyzing them using content analysis techniques. The research result show that the concept of jinas in this book encompasses of jinas in 12 topics. This analysis shows that the use of jinas in this book can enhance the meaning and linguistic appeal of the literary expect presented. Thus, this research contributes to uncovering the aesthetic function and beauty of jinas in literary texts as presented in this book.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the planning of the Syahrul Lughah Program at UINSI Samarinda and its influence on improving students’ Arabic language competence. The research focuses specifically on the planning aspect, as part of George R. Terry's management theory, which includes objectives, strategy, scheduling, and preliminary evaluation. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 120 students who participated in the program. The findings show that the planning of the Syahrul Lughah Program was well-structured, with clear goals and relevant learning strategies. Statistical analysis indicates a significant influence between planning quality and the improvement of students’ Arabic proficiency, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 37.4%. Among the planning components, objectives and strategy had the strongest contribution to the program’s success, while preliminary evaluation scored the lowest, indicating a lack of standardized assessment of participants' initial abilities. The study concludes that effective planning is a crucial determinant in the success of Arabic language programs. Strengthening the evaluation phase and refining the implementation schedule are recommended to maximize learning outcomes in similar intensive programs.

Abstract

This study explores the conceptual relationship between Pragmatism and Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) within the context of Arabic language education. Pragmatism emphasizes the practical value of knowledge, aligning with the objective of Arabic instruction to develop communicative competence. CMC, particularly through Synchronous (SCMC) and Asynchronous (ACMC) modes, serves as a modern pedagogical tool to support language learning. This research adopts a literature-based approach by analyzing current academic sources to evaluate how CMC can enhance Arabic language acquisition through collaborative and contextual interaction. The findings suggest that effective integration of CMC can significantly improve students' proficiency, especially in a digital learning environment. The study offers valuable insights for developing innovative Arabic language teaching strategies that are aligned with pragmatic educational goals.
