Abstract

Cucumber is a fruit that produces seed that have pulp. The presence of pulp in the seeds can inhibit germination. This causes problem in seed production. Therefore, to remove the pulp from the seeds, it can be done by various methods such as chemical extraction or drying method. This study was aimed to determine the response of cucumber seed germination treated by NaOCl and different drying methods. This research is an experimental with a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD), consisting of 8 treatment with 3 repetitions. The research consist of seed preparation, treatment, seeding and observation. The result show that NaOCl or drying treatment and the combination of the two treatments had no significant effect on all the variables. However, soaking with 5% NaOCl could increase the vigor index of 98,67%, the growth rate (7,69%) and the maximum growth potential of cucumber seeds up to 100% better than other treatments.

Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic prevention policy has the impact of reducing practicum programs that should be trained for students. In this paper, we show how a video tracker has been effective in achieving straight motion practicum and determining the moon gravity by using e-learning, group discussion, free fall motion video analysis on the moon's gravity acceleration. After the application of the video tracker, the results of quantitative and qualitative data analysis showed that the 2018 class students from physics science education of the State University of Surabaya had significant experiences and commented positively on their experiences. Students show that they are satisfied with the practicum environment by using a video tracker, and the application of a video tracker to determine the moon's gravitational acceleration to improve their skill proficiency in conducting an experiment. The straight motion practicum and the determination of the moon's gravity acceleration by using the video tracker tool described in this paper can be used as a reference to ensure the quality of the online science practicum program during the Covid-19 pandemic. The investigation results show that a video tracker-based practicum environment can train science laboratory skills in the form of predicting, observing, explaining, and analysing video data on scientific phenomena.

Abstract

Discovery Based Unity of Sciences (DBUS) learning devices require students to be able to search, identify and find problems that exist around the student's environment with the aim of developing spiritual attitudes and training students' skills. The first thing that the researcher did was to conduct a needs analysis by interviewing biology teachers, analyzing learning tools for XI grade even semesters and distributing questionnaires to students' needs. Based on the results of interviews and analysis of learning tools, it was obtained data that the lesson plans used were not integrated with the unity of science and had not followed SE number 14 of 2019 concerning the simplification of lesson plans, then students' spiritual attitudes and thinking skills were still low and the assessment process was carried out unilaterally by the teacher, so it was not no evaluation or student involvement. Based on these problems, researchers provide solutions to develop learning tools based on Discovery Based Unity of Sciences (DBUS) on reproductive system materials. Learning device products in the form of lesson plans, LKPD and self and peer assessment instruments. It is hoped that students will be able to improve their spiritual attitudes and develop critical thinking skills. This study uses a 4D development model (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate). The validity test was carried out by education experts, material experts, media experts and experts on the integration of Islamic values. The results of the percentage of RPP are 89.23%, LKPD 91.35% and self and peer assessment instruments are 88.53%. The field test was carried out twice, namely a limited-scale field test and a wide-scale field test. The limited scale field test was carried out by 5 students, for LKPD and self and peer assessment instruments the results obtained were feasibility with a percentage of 85.6%. Then the wide-scale test was carried out by 30 students, for LKPD to obtain a feasibility result with a percentage of 81.3% and the self and peer assessment instrument to obtain a feasibility result with a percentage of 81.2%. The results of the development of DBUS-based learning tools are very suitable for use in learning activities. Abstract

This study intends to provide a description of how the use of polonium-210 (210Po) as a poison in terms of toxicology. This research is a qualitative research, the type of research uses comprehensive analytic studies and analytical normative approaches. Polonium-210 is created in nuclear reactors. This element is very radioactive which if swallowed even a little is very fatal. After entering the blood tissue, the element mainly targets the liver and kidneys and bone marrow. After 210Po is absorbed into the body, the whole body is basically targeted. The dose given and the sensitivity of individual tissues determine the level of damage throughout the body. Unlike most heavy metals, 210 Po accumulates in soft tissue rather than bone. Polonium (210Po) is a producer of very active alpha particles, but only becomes toxic when entering the body. If entered into the human body, toxic effects are often fatal, even at very small doses. Most of the initial dose is quickly excreted in the feces and urine, but the rest is distributed to the soft tissues of the body.

Abstract

The study of Groundwater in West Jakarta is to determine the quality of groundwater that is commonly used by residents for their daily needs such as drinking, clean up and etc. This study is important because the water consumed by residents does not necessarily meet standard of raw water quality for drinking set by the government through Permenkes No. 492 of 2010, through physical and chemical parameters. The research focuses on examining free aquifers in densely populated housing by using hydrogeological and hydrochemistry analysis. This research aims to condition groundwater by hydrogeology and hydrochemistry method and also mapping water quality. Hydrogeological analysis is used to map ground water level based on groundwater depth measurements measured in community wells with units of meters below ground level (mgmt) and meters below sea level (m.asl).Hydrochemical data uses two data, namely primary and secondary data. Primary data is data taken by the author in the field in 2021 by focusing on free aquifer groundwater wells taken in densely populated housing. Secondary data is data taken by BKAT in 2018-2020 by focusing on groundwater wells for public spaces such as gas stations, parks, and houses of worship. So that the hydro chemical analysis produces two types of maps, the first map is groundwater quality of free aquifers in public spaces through BKAT data, and a map of groundwater quality in densely populated housing in 2021. The results of the hydrogeological research are making a map of the free aquifer zone, and a map of the average change in groundwater level in West Jakarta. While the hydro chemical analysis was carried out to see the conditions of salinity, type of water, the level of seawater intrusion and the total dissolved solids in the study area.Based on measurements made by the author in March 2021, the deepest water depth is in Semanam Village with a depth of 9.3 mgmt., and the shallowest is in Rawa Buaya village with a depth of 0.2 mbmt. Meanwhile, based on the author’s measurements, groundwater quality are chagrin. Roa Melaka Village has smelly water, also high in Chloride, Sodium, and Natrium. Duri Kepa and Jelambar Village have high iron pollution, through measurement have 0,4 mg/l and 1,65 mg/l.
