Abstract

This study aimed to test the antioxidant activity of (E)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-p-tolilprop-2-en-1-on (C1) and (E)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3- (4-isopropylphenyl)prop-2-en-1-on (C2). This research is useful as a first step in the search for alternative antioxidant compounds and new antibiotics from chalcone compounds. The antioxidant bioactivity test was carried out using the DPPH method. DPPH is a method that is fast, simple, and does not require high costs in determining antioxidant capacity using the free radical 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH). This method is often used to test compounds that act as free radical scavengers or hydrogen donors and evaluate their antioxidant activity, as well as quantify the number of antioxidant-radical complexes formed. The antioxidant bioactivity of chalcone compounds (E)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-p-tolilprop-2-en-1-on has an IC50 value of 533.9000 ppm and chalcone compounds (E)-1-(4-chlorophenyl) -3-(4-isopropylphenyl)prop-2-en-1-on has an IC50 value of 718.9054 ppm. The ability of chalcone compounds (E)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-p-tolylprop-2-en-1-one and (E)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(4-isopropylphenyl)prop- 2-en-1-on is classified as a weak antioxidant [12]. Abstract

This study aims to determine the inventory of aves species in the Ujung Kulon National Park area. The methods used is ecounter rates (meeting rate) and the IPA (Indices Puntuels d'Abondence) or Point Count method. This research was conducted from May to June. Data collection in the form of photos/images is carried out twice a day, in the morning at 06.00 - 11.00 AM and in the afternoon at 15.00 - 18.00 PM. The observations were made at four stations with different ecosystem type: station 1 is Handeleum Island with ecosystem type of coastal and mud forest, station 2 is Cigenteur with vegetation type of mangrove forest, station 3 is Peucang Island with ecosystem type of tropical rain forest and Station 4 is Cidaon with ecosystem type of pasture. Based on observations from the four stations, it found 20 species of aves. Station 1 with amount eight aves species, station 2 with amount of five aves species, station 3 with amount of eleven aves species and station 4 with amount of seven aves species. Particularly, in the stations 1 and 3, more aves were found because coastal water habitats, mud forests and tropical rain forests are habitats that support the availability of abundant food sources also there were many types of trees that serve as shelter and inhabitation. The aves will be in a habitat that has abundant resources to support their needs. Therefore, it can be said that a high level of aves inventory in an area indicates that the area has good environmental conditions.

Abstract

Mamalia kecil merupakan jenis-jenis mamalia yang memiliki berat dewasa di bawah 5 kg. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman mamalia kecil di Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon dan untuk mengetahui apakah hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai suplemen kurikulum berbasis potensi lokal. Rancangan penelitiab yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data di lapangan, yaitu dengan metode jelajah, trapping dan wawancara. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Lokasi penelitian dibagi menjadi 4 stasiun. Hasil pengamatan diidentifikasi dengan buku panduan lapangan serta dicocokan dengan dokumentasi foto spesies yang ditemukan di lapangan. Ditemukan 7 spesies dari 7 famili. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan rumus indeks keanekaragaman Shannon-Wienner. Indeks keanekaragaman mamalia kecil diperoleh H’ = 1,463127. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa keanekaragaman mamalia kecil di Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon termasuk ke dalam kategori sedang.

Abstract

Based on experience and observation, that the biological learning process at SMA NW Mataram, generally still uses a classic approach pattern, teachers dominate the learning process by talking, reading, doing tasks and training to answer questions, while students only sit, listen, record, memorize and do problem exercises. So that the author tried alternatives in using media in the learning process, one of which was with the hearing media, namely learning with VCD aids, televisions and CD cassettes by Harun Yahya entitled "the miracle of human creation". The aim of this study is to improve students' learning achievement with the help of hearing media and improve students' understanding of the basic competencies that exist in biology subjects. In this study, the subject of the study was a student of SMA NW Mataram, class XI IPA semester (even), school year 2020/2021. The students numbered 24 people consisting of men totaling 9 people and women 15 people. Based on the results of the evaluation so far, researchers found that the daily repeat score of each student ≤ 6.5, the average in class XI IPA reached a learning level of 45%. The results showed that based on the results of student learning evaluations, the average test score in cycle I was 6.12 with a classical graduation percentage of 81.82%., Furthermore, the average test in cycle II is 6.50 with a classic graduation percentage of 90.48%, there is an increase in both the average score and the graduation percentage. The next average test score of cycle III is 7.62 with a classic pass percentage of 95.65%, there is also a significant increase. Likewise, the results of observations on teacher activities in learning, in general, showed excellent category results, reaching 80.56% and 88.89% in cycles I and II, then 94.44% in cycle III. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the application of hearing media to biological learning can improve students' learning achievements and can improve students' understanding of the basic competencies that exist in biology subjects.

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit or prevent damage caused by free radical oxidation. Bangle rhizome (Zingiber cassumunar Roxb.) contains polyphenolic compounds which have antioxidant activity. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of bangle rhizome extract in reducing ABTS radicals [2,2'-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline)-6-sulphonic acid]. Bangle rhizome was macerated with 96% ethanol. The extract identified flavonoid and tested for antioxidant activity using the ABTS method with comparison quercetin. The results of the antioxidant activity test of bangle rhizome had an IC50 value of 25.320 ppm which was classified as very strong antioxidant, while the positive control of quercetin obtained an IC50 value of 3.394 ppm which was included in the very strong category. Bangle rhizome extract has very strong antioxidant activity in reducing free radicals.

Abstract

Based on the author's experience and observation that the biological learning process at SMA NW Mataram, generally still uses a classic approach pattern, teachers dominate the learning process with lecture methods, reading, doing tasks and training to answer questions. While students just sit, listen, take notes, memorized, and do problem exercises. So that the author tried alternatives in using media in the learning process, one of which is with genetic button media, namely learning by using tools in the form of objects that resemble buttons. This genetic button media is usually used in trait inheritance learning materials. In addition to using the media is also applied the learning model of the Student-Achievement Group Team, which is a cooperative learning model, which emphasizes group cooperation in understanding the material taught. Likewise with the results of observation assessments on teacher activities in learning. The use of media and learning models aims to improve student learning achievement and improve student understanding In this study who are the subject of research are students of SMA NW Mataram, class XII IPA semester V, school year 2019/2020. The results showed of student learning evaluation, the average test score in first cycle was 7.03 with a classical graduation percentage of 76.92%. Furthermore, the average test in second cycle is 6.43 with a classic graduation percentage of 78.57%. There was an increase in the percentage of graduations, while the average decreased. Next, the average value of the third cycle test is 6.74 with a classical graduation percentage of 85.71%, there is also an increase in accordance with the success indicator that is 85% for classical evaluation results. Likewise, the results of observation assessments on teacher activities in learning, in general showed excellent category results, reaching 78% in first cycle, 80.60% in second cycle and 86.10% in third cycle. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the application of genetic button media with the student-achievement group team learning model, in biology learning can improve students' learning achievements and can improve students' understanding of basic competencies in biology subjects.

Abstract

Kakao merupakan salah satu komoditas perkebunan yang memiliki peran cukup penting bagi perekonomian Indonesia. Daun kakao yang diperoleh dari hasil pemangkasan dari perkebunan kakao belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal padahal dapat digunakan dalam pembuatan teh kombucha. Kombucha memiliki khasiat yang sangat berguna bagi tubuh manusia, salah satunya yaitu sebagai antioksidan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi gula terhadap derajat keasaman (pH) dan aktivitas antioksidan kombucha daun kakao (Theobroma cacao. L). Metode yang digunakan dalam pembuatan teh kombucha daun kakao adalah sama dengan metode teh hijau. Kombucha daun kakao difermentasi selama 14 hari dengan variasi konsentrasi gula 7,5%, 10% dan 20% (b/v). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa derajat keasaman (pH) yang dimiliki oleh kombucha daun kakao dengan konsentrasi gula 7,5%, 10% dan 20% (b/v) secara berturut-turut adalah 6,72; 6,71; dan 6,63 serta aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi dan terendah berturut-turut adalah 6,23 pada konsentrasi gula 10% dan 5,49 pada konsentrasi gula 20%. Kombucha daun kakao dengan konsentrasi gula 10% yang difermentasi selama 14 hari memiliki nilai pH optimal dan aktivitas antioksidan tertinggi.

Abstract

Porang is one of the root crops belonging to the family Araceae with a specification of the genus Amorphophallus. Porang is currently being developed in various places in Indonesia, one of which is North Lombok Regency with a potential of 1500 ha. The purpose of this study was to determine the suitability of the habitat and environmental parameters of porang growing in Selelos Village, Gangga District, North Lombok Regency. The research method was carried out by random sampling on the porang growing habitat by observing and analyzing the environmental parameters. The results showed that the height of the porang planting site in Selelos village was growing at an altitude between 443-457 m pdl with an average of 452.71 ± 7,476 m pdl, light intensity 200-550 I with an average of 292.86 ± 120.514 I, soil pH 7.8-7.9 or with an average of 7.84±0.053, soil moisture 1.5-6 RH with an average of 2.79±1.752 RH, and soil temperature 27-28°C or with an average 27.71±0.393 °C. The condition of these environmental parameters is still in accordance with the survival of the porang and is well developed in Selelos village, Gangga district, North Lombok regency. Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of mangrove plants and their benefits to the ecosystem in the Aru Islands (Kalar-Kalar Village) from August to October 2020. The method used in this study is the survey method. Sampling in the field was carried out using exploration, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of this study obtained 10 different types of mangroves, namely: Achantus ebracthus, Achantus ilicifolius, Acrostichum aereum, Aegiceras floridum, Avicennia eucalyptifolia, Avicennia lanata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Lumnitzera littorea, Xylocarpus granatum, and Nypa fruticans. Mangrove plants are used as medicine, vegetables, firewood, building materials, and cigarette paper materials. The parts used are the leaves, stems, and fruit.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of organic fertilizer (tempeh wastewater) on the growth of tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum). This study was experimental, compiled with a completely randomized design (RAL) pattern consisting of three treatments and three tests. Data analysis with variance analysis (ANOVA) and continued with the smallest real difference test (BNT). The results showed that watering tempeh wastewater at a dose of 400 ml showed growth in tomato plant height by 17.35% and the number of leaf blades by 10.33%. While at a dose of 600 ml it is 23.18% and the number of leaf blades is 13%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that watering tempeh wastewater as an organic fertilizer has a very noticeable effect on the growth of tomatoes.
