Moral Values in the Film The Lion King and Its Relevance for Strengthening Character Education of Elementary School Students Ratih Oktafiani Alda Intansari; Supriyadi Supriyadi

Elementary school children tend to have very diverse interests. One of them is watching cartoons from television shows or YouTube. Elementary school-age children tend to enter a phase of imitating what they see, hear and feel. This is very important for all parents to pay attention to, because the movies they watch can affect the character or personality of the child. This study aims to determine the moral values in the lion king film for elementary school children that can be used as character reinforcement. This research uses a qualitative approach with a narrative study type of research that analyzes the content of the lion king film. The way to analyze the data in this study is by playing the film, then recording the contents of the lion king film and transferring the results of the notes to the form of dialogue between characters which shows the existence of moral values that can be used as character strengthening. The results of this study found that there were eleven moral values in accordance with Thomas Lickona's (1991) theory of knowing goodness, doing good, and loving kindness. In addition, these moral values also have relevance to character strengthening in accordance with the 2017 Ministry of Education and Culture regulations. The impact of the lion king film itself is expected to strengthen children's character and develop motivation in children's activities in their daily lives. It can be seen that the lion king film has moral values that should be imitated by elementary school children.

The Relationship Between Emotional Support With Psychological Well-Being In Students In Vocational High Schools Faizatul Agustina; Widyastuti Widyastuti

This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional support and psychological well-being in students. This research method is quantitative with a correlational approach. The variables in this study are emotional support as the independent variable and psychological well-being as the dependent variable. This research was conducted at SMKN 1 Grati with a sample of 333 students who were taken by the sampling method used was probability sampling method with simple random sampling technique. namely the sampling technique by providing equal opportunities for each element. Data analysis was performed by Pearson product moment correlation analysis using SPSS 23 for windows program. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between emotional support and psychological well-being for students at SMKN 1 Grati. The results showed that the correlation coefficient was 0.562 with a significance level of 0.000 <0.05, which means that the hypothesis in this study can be accepted. With an effective contribution of 31.6%, which means that emotional support affects the level of psychological well-being of students.

This study aims to describe the values of character education in the fairy tale Bawang Merah Bawang Putih and its relevance for strengthening the character of elementary school students. The data of this research is the story of Bawang Merah Bawang Putih which was obtained from the fairy tale book by Runna Aulia and Ghais Ramadhani. The data collection technique used is documentation. This stage of the data analysis technique is carried out by data condensation. Presentation of data, as well as conclusions and verification of research results. The results of this study are 5 character values contained in the fairy tale Bawang Merah Bawang Putih, such as the value of the character of hard work, the value of the character of discipline, the value of the character of responsibility, the value of the character of social care, the value of the character of curiosity. This study also found 5 character values that exist in strengthening character education, such as the value of telligiosity, nationalism, integrity, independence and mutual cooperation. The characters in this fairy tale can also be used as learning content at school. there are good examples so that students can find good learning to be applied to everyday life such as the school environment, community and family environment.

The Effect of Mind Mapping Techniques on Writing Text Descriptions for Grade 7 Junior High School Students Edo Wartadinata; Dian Rahma Santoso

Teaching subject of English is a compulsory. English as a subject in school immediately improved all four of the abilities. The four abilities are: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Nevertheless, there are still a lot of students of 7th Grade in SMPN 1 Jabon Sidoarjo, especially at 7 E Class, who cannot reach minimum passing grade (KKM) caused by some lack in English lesson, specifically in writing ability of Descriptive text. Common obstacles students are facing are for example: Students cannot create their writing concept of descriptive about people, thing, places, and animals. This study attempted to answer the following research question (1) is there any significant effect of mind mapping technique on students’ writing of descriptive text at seventh grade of SMPN 1 Jabon Sidoarjo. In carrying this research, the researcher formulated the objectives of the study as follows: To find out the effect of mind mapping technique on students’ writing of descriptive text at 7th grade of SMPN 1 Jabon Sidoarjo. Research method: The research design is pre-experimental research with quantitative approach, The population of this research were all students of 7E SMPN 1 Jabon Sidoarjo, The sample was seventh E class consisting of 32 students, The research instrument used in this research was test and the data collected through test was analyzed using T-test formula. The result showed that different of mean score of students’ writing before being taught using mind mapping technique was 57. Meanwhile, the mean score of students’ writing after being taught using mind mapping technique was 86,59. The finding showed that the mind mapping technique was effective to use in teaching writing descriptive text for it could improve students’ writing ability. This research has benefit in English Education study, especially for further research to enrich the resource

Improving the Ability to Read Al-Qur'an Using Flash Card Media in Early Childhood in Al-Qur'an Education Park Nur Kholifatul Mufridha; Istikomah Istikomah

This article aims to determine the use of Flash Card Media in improving the ability to read the Qur'an in early childhood, increase the ability to read the Koran in early childhood using Flash Card Media, and analyze the factors of using Flash Media. Card in improving the ability to read the Koran in early childhood. The research approach used is non-CAR descriptive qualitative research with data obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. The results showed that the use of Flash Card Media in improving the ability to read the Qur'an in early childhood has been maximally achieved and has a very large influence in implementing learning, as well as learning materials and the ability of educators to be professional in improving the ability to read the Qur'an. 'an in early childhood by using flash card media.

The Effect of Grammar Translation Method in Description Text on Writing Ability of Class XI Vocational High School Students Dinda Ayu; Dian Rahma Santoso

The topic of this research is The Effect of Grammar Translation Method in Descriptive Text for Students’ Writing Skill. The objective of this research were to find how the Grammar Translation Method can improve students’ writing skill through descriptive text for eleventh grade students at SMK Yapalis Krian in the academic year of 2019/2020 and whether the grammar translation method can be used as a method in improving the students’ achievement of writing skill. The researchers was applied pre-experimental research in this study. The steps of pre-experimental research were given test and treatment. In gathering the data, the researcher used a test in the form of writing content about descriptive text. The result of this research showed that using grammar translation method was good. It was proven by the improvement mean difference of pre-test and post-test after treatment. The means of the pre-test was 60.85, and the post-test was 74.63. Therefore, it can be suggessted that grammar translation method can be used as the alternative method in teaching which especially to improve writing skill.

PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, State and Test) Strategy in Analyzing Students’ Reading Comprehension of Narrative Text Strategi Gladysia Idolani; Dian Novita

The application of strategy in the learning process can be crucial to support the students’ competence. This study is descriptive - survey research data was obtained from the questionnaire. This study aims to determine the use of the PQRST strategy to improve the reading ability of class XI BHS students at SMAN 1 Porong. The participants in this study were 31 students. In this questionnaire, the researcher gave 10 questions related to learning English, especially in reading and learning after being given the strategy. Based on the questionnaire, it was found that student's like to be taught using the PQRST strategy. It can be seen from the questionnaire question, more student's choose Yes than No and only some students choose sometimes. This is reinforced from the results of the questionnaire that the application of the PQRST strategy is able to help students improve their reading skills and students understand the content of the text from reading.

Improving Speaking Ability Through Picture Card Assisted Storytelling Method For Children 5-6 Years Old In Kindergarten Fitri Nailul Izzah; Luluk Iffatur Rocmah

This study aims to improve the speaking ability of children aged 5-6 years in Mutiara Hati Krian Sidoarjo Kindergarten through storytelling method assisted by picture card media. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles with three meetings in each cycle. The data collection technique used is descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative. The indicator of success in this study is if the average value of children's speaking ability through storytelling method assisted by picture card media has reached the very well developed criteria (BSB) with a percentage of 75%-100%. The results of this study indicate an increase in children's speaking skills through storytelling methods assisted by picture card media at Mutiara Hati Krian Sidoarjo Kindergarten gradually from pre-cycle, first cycle and second cycle. This is evidenced by the increase in the average speaking ability of children in the pre-cycle by 33%, increasing to 58% in the first cycle of action and reaching 92% in the second cycle of action. The results of this study are expected to provide information to institutions that handle early childhood or the general public who need information about the application of picture card-assisted storytelling methods to improve speaking skills in children aged 5-6 years. A Comparative Study on the Behavior of Adolescents Raised by Normal Families and Broken Home Families in Keboan Anom Village, Gedangan, Sidoarjo Anita Tri Maharani Hariyadi; Istikomah Istikomah

The purpose of this study is (1) to find out the behavior of adolescents who are raised by normal families. (2) knowing the behavior of teenagers who are raised by broken home families and (3) knowing the comparison or differences in the behavior of teenagers who are raised by normal families and broken home families. The research method used a mixed method research or a combination of quantitative and qualitative with a population of 150 teenagers living in RW.03, RW.05 and RW.06 and obtained a sample of 60 teenagers to study. Then the data analysis technique used in the study used the independent sample t-test formula. Based on the research that has been done, the results of the research are as follows: (1) the behavior of adolescents who are cared for by normal families using an average analysis technique that has been through validity and reliability tests gets a score of 3.95 which is in the interval of 3.67 – 5.00 which means that the behavior of adolescents is quite good. (2) and the behavior of adolescents who are cared for by broken home families using an average analysis technique that has been through validity and reliability tests obtains a score of 2.72 which is in the interval 2.34 - 3.66, which means that adolescent behavior is classified as poor. . (3) based on the independent sample t-test test output in the equal variances assumed section, it is known that the value of sig.(2-tailed) is 0.000 <0.05.

The Relationship Between Body Image And Psychological Well Being In Senior High School Students Amaliyah Syabana; Eko Hardi Ansyah

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of psychological well being experienced by students. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between body image and psychological well being in students of SMA Muhammadiyah 4 Porong. This research is a quantitative research with correlational quantitative method. The population in this study were all students of SMA Muhamadiyah 4 Porong, totaling 62 students. The sample in this study amounted to 62 students with saturated sampling technique. In the data collection technique, the researcher uses a psychological scale, this type of data collection uses a Likert scale in the form of a body image scale (ɑ = 0.797) and a psychological well being scale (ɑ = 0.948). The data analysis technique used Pearson's product-moment correlation with the help of SPSS 22.0. The results of the data analysis of this study indicate that the correlation coefficient (rxy) is 0.246 with a significance of 0.027 <0.05, which means that there is a significant positive relationship between body image and psychological well being in students of SMA Muhamadiyah 4 Porong. The effect of body image on psychological well being in this study was 6.1%.
