Abstract

Palm shells are one of the wastes produced from the processing of crude palm oil in addition to empty fruit bunches and coir which account for 60% of oil production. Palm oil shell waste is widely used as active charcoal in the oil, rubber, sugar, and pharmaceutical industries. The potential of palm oil shell waste in Indonesia is very large considering the area of oil palm plantations which continues to increase every year. This study aims to determine the percentage of the addition of palm oil shell waste in the manufacture of paving blocks that provide optimum compressive strength and water absorption values from several variations of the addition of palm oil shell waste that replaces some of the fine aggregates. The study was carried out experimentally in a laboratory using a boxed specimen with a length of 20 cm, a width of 10 cm, a height of 6 cm by 40 pieces. The mixture uses a ratio of 1 cement and 5 sand with fas 0.3. Treatment of test specimens by immersion in water for further testing of compressive strength and absorption at the age of 28 days. Based on testing of the compressive strength of paving blocks with a percentage of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% are respectively 8.08 MPa, 7.18 MPa, 6.46 MPa, 5.94 MPa. The value of paving block water absorption with a percentage of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% are respectively 9.88%, 10.25%, 12.27%, 12.44%.

Abstract

There is now an assumption that “working from home” will become a normal work culture for most of us (teachers, and students). In Indonesia, some teachers have to do homework assignments (continuously and as a controlled routine) on an ongoing basis. This means that they have the opportunity to be unproductive to work in a completely new environment and without leadership supervision (intensively). However, there are a number of ways to get around this problem, especially preventing teachers from being confused in applying appropriate and effective learning models, as well as sustainable professional development, surely wanting to be productive in utilizing time during the Covid 19 pandemic. Thus time management must be carried out and controlled properly to improve the quality of professionalism of teachers as professional educators. The solution, the teaching staff is required to be able to design learning media as an innovation by utilizing online media. This research is motivated by the learning outcomes of Building Engineering Education students who program Foundation Engineering courses which are still relatively low under a score of 60 (C value). Hybrid learning is a hybrid learning concept that integrates traditional class sessions and e-learning elements in an effort to combine the benefits of the two forms of learning. The purpose of this study is to determine student learning outcomes after the application of the hybrid learning model. This type of research is descriptive research. Quantitative data in the form of numbers or scores obtained from student learning outcomes tests. This research was conducted from October 2020 to December 2020 at the Building Engineering Education FKIP, Palangka Raya University. The research subjects were students of the Building Engineering Education 2020/2021 Academic Year who program Foundation Engineering Courses. The instrument used in this study was the final test of student learning outcomes. There is a significant effect as evidenced by the analysis of the t-test with the results of t count> t table with a value of t = 22.4 while for t table = 2.04 with a confidence of 0.05%, there can be significant differences in learning using the hybrid learning model. . The output to be achieved is that this research will be published in the Journal of Technology and Vocational Education FKIP, Palangka Raya University, 'Balanga' not accredited in 2020.

Abstract

This study aims to developed a flipbook-based e-module in Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) course, because e-modules are considered to have the advantage of being innovative, displaying complete teaching materials, interesting, interactive, and being able to carry out the cognitive functions of students well. The e-module development stage adapted the modified Dick & Carey model into four stages, namely (1) needs analysis, (2) product design, (3) validation and evaluation, and (4) product revision. Based on the development results obtained the following data; (1) the lecturer assessment of the e-module showed that the product has "very good" criteria with a percentage of 92,05%, so that the e-module can be used in learning, (2) the results of small group trials indicate that the product has "very good" criteria with a percentage of 93,59%, so that the e-module can be used in learning, and (3) the results of field trials showed that the product has "good" criteria with a percentage of 81,92%, so that e-modules can be used in learning, but still needs improvement.

Abstract

Bukit Liti Village is one of villages located in the Kahayan Tengah Sub-district, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. Most people there tap rubber tree simply managed to produce bokar (rubber materials). In making bokar, rubber farmers use coagulant materials that can damage the rubber quality and soak bokar in water pool/creeks which lower the rubber quality and produce bad smell. To solve the problem, a training is conducted to make a simple pyrolysis reactor to produce liquid smoke which will be used as latex coagulant preventing and reducing bad smell and improving the bokar quality. Pyrolysis reactor is made from a used oil tank, and other materials with a thermometer to measure reactor temperature. The reactor is designed to allow a minimum oxygen combustion. The production of rubber wood liquid smoke for latex coagulation process in this research with 50 kg of old rubber wood materials has obtained 125 ml liquid smoke for 4-hour production time. The use of liquid smoke as latex coagulant gives real impacts for farmers such as: environmental friendly, to prevent bacterial growth and oxidation in the latex and latex lump, to prevent and reduce bad smells of bokar from the plantation, during storage and rubber processing in the rubber processing factory. The technology advantages of the liquid smoke are: faster coagulation, high elasticity, able to increase dry rubber content, relatively same price with other coagulant, to increase quality and selling price, produce clean latex and free of environment pollutant.

Abstract

In general, concrete fillers are made from materials that are easily obtained, easily processed, and have the durability and strength that is very much needed in particular construction of coarse and fine aggregates, each region would have different aggregates as the main ingredients in making concrete. The research conducted aims to determine how the optimum compressive strength value of the concrete produced from the addition of Kapuas Sand to the concrete mixture. In this research, Kapuas Sand is used as a fine aggregate enhancer. The percentage variation of Kapuas red sand used in this study varies, namely 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. Concrete mixture planning using SNI 03-2834-2000. The test uses cylindrical specimens with a height of 30 cm, a diameter of 15 cm with a total sample of 10 cylinders for each addition of Kapuas Sand so that the total specimens are 50 cylinders. Testing is carried out at the age of 14 and 28 days in the Laboratory of Building Engineering Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Palangka Raya. The results of the compressive strength of concrete using a mixture of Kapuas Sand at 28 days 0% 25%, 50%, 75% and, 100% respectively were 24.71 MPa, 21.79 MPa, 25.36 MPa, 23 .3 MPa, and .22.62 MPa. This result shows the compressive strength value of concrete in the concrete mix with a percentage of 50% that is equal to 25.36 MPa while the compressive strength of normal concrete is 24.71 MPa so that the compressive strength of concrete is 2.66% of normal concrete compressive strength with age concrete compressive strength 28 days.
