Abstract

Single-mode optical fibers are widely used in modern communication systems due to their high data transmission capacity and low signal attenuation. However, the physical condition of the optical fiber, such as bending caused by mechanical pressure, can affect transmission performance. This research aims to analyze the effect of pressurized bending on single-mode optical fibers and its impact on the attenuation of transmitted light intensity. Experiments were conducted by varying the bending radius and pressure applied to the optical fiber to measure changes in the received light intensity. The results show that as the bending radius decreases and the applied pressure increases, the attenuation of light intensity increases significantly. The reduction in light intensity occurs due to the leakage of light modes from the fiber core as a result of physical deformation in the fiber structure. These findings are important for designing more efficient and resilient optical fiber installations, especially in environments prone to physical pressure and bending.

Abstract

The design of a reliable and efficient network is crucial to support services that require large data transfers, such as video streaming. This research aims to design a network using Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology to enhance the quality of video streaming services. MPLS is known as an effective solution for managing network traffic due to its ability to perform label-based routing, which allows for more optimal and faster path selection compared to traditional routing methods. In this study, the MPLS network design is implemented to provide better Quality of Service (QoS), focusing on parameters such as latency, jitter, and packet loss, which greatly impact the user experience in video streaming. The design method involves selecting the most efficient routes and managing priority traffic to ensure that video streaming data can be transmitted with optimal speed and stability. The results of this study show that the use of MPLS in networks for video streaming services can improve bandwidth efficiency, reduce disruptions caused by network congestion, and ensure more stable playback with minimal buffering. Therefore, MPLS-based network design becomes an effective solution to support higher-quality video streaming services.

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health issue in developing countries, including Indonesia and the Philippines, where high rates of child malnutrition persist. Stunting impairs physical and cognitive development, limiting the future potential of affected children. This comparative study investigates the influence of socioeconomic and nutritional factors on reducing stunting rates in both countries. A systematic literature review was conducted, focusing on research published between 2010 and 2023, obtained from databases such as Google Scholar and Scopus. The analysis included studies examining the relationship between household income, parental education, nutritional intake, and access to health services, as well as government policy initiatives. Data extraction and thematic analysis were employed to categorize socioeconomic and nutritional determinants of stunting in both countries. The findings suggest that both socioeconomic factors, including parental education and household income, and nutritional factors, such as dietary diversity and breastfeeding practices, significantly influence stunting reduction. Differences in health infrastructure and community-level interventions also contribute to the variations in stunting rates between Indonesia and the Philippines. The study concludes that addressing stunting requires a multifaceted approach, combining socioeconomic improvement, enhanced access to health services, and targeted nutritional interventions. Policies that focus on improving maternal education, community health services, and food security can significantly reduce stunting rates. The findings underscore the importance of coordinated efforts between government, health sectors, and communities to effectively combat stunting and improve child health outcomes in both countries.

Abstract

This study analyzes the reliability of the electrical and pneumatic monitoring system on the Boeing 737 aircraft, which is a critical component in ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of the aircraft. The electrical system is responsible for supporting various vital functions of the aircraft, such as navigation, communication, and flight control, while the pneumatic system regulates airflow for various subsystems, including the anti-icing system, cabin control, and hydraulic pressure. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of the monitoring system in detecting disturbances or failures in electrical and pneumatic components. The approach used involves direct monitoring, historical data collection, and predictive analysis using statistical methods to assess the level of system reliability. The results of the study indicate that the Boeing 737 monitoring system has high reliability in detecting problems before they become critical, but there are several aspects that need improvement, especially in terms of early detection of failures in the pneumatic system. Improving the reliability of the monitoring system can be done through the integration of more sophisticated sensor technology and artificial intelligence (AI)-based predictive algorithms. Thus, these improvements can improve the operational safety and efficiency of the aircraft.

Abstract

An Increasing carbon emissions from the transportation sector are one of the main issues in global climate change, so that environmentally friendly transportation solutions are needed. This study aims to develop an optimal design for an efficient and sustainable solar-powered electric bicycle. The methodology used includes experimental design, performance testing, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis on efficiency and technical and non-technical barriers. The results of the study show that the integration of monocrystalline solar panels, lithium-ion batteries, and DC electric motors with a smart controller system produces a design that can travel up to 60 km per full charge, with an energy consumption of 0.05 kWh/km. Compared to conventional electric bicycles, this bicycle has higher efficiency and faster charging times. However, there are several obstacles, such as the efficiency of solar panels which is affected by the weather and the high initial cost of technology, as well as non-technical challenges in the form of low public awareness and minimal government policy incentives. The conclusion of this study is that solar-powered electric bicycles have great potential as an environmentally friendly transportation solution in Indonesia. Technology development and cross-sector support are needed to optimize its implementation.

Abstract

Wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has emerged as a transformative solu-tion for delivering electrical energy without the need for physical connections. This study investigates the design and performance optimization of an energy transfer system em-ploying WPT across different cross-section types of transmission coils, including circular, rectangular, and elliptical geometries. The objective is to analyze the impact of coil shape and configuration on power transfer efficiency, coupling strength, and electromagnetic field distribution. Using finite element analysis (FEA) and experimental validation, the study evaluates key parameters such as coil alignment, resonant frequency, and load var-iations under different cross-sectional designs. The results demonstrate that the geome-try of the coils significantly influences the system's power transfer efficiency, with circu-lar cross-sections exhibiting superior performance in terms of coupling factor and power density. However, rectangular and elliptical cross-sections offer distinct advantages in specific scenarios, such as space-constrained environments and non-uniform load distri-butions. This research provides a comprehensive framework for designing and optimiz-ing WPT systems tailored to diverse application requirements, including electric vehicles, medical devices, and consumer electronics. The findings contribute to advancing the ver-satility and efficiency of wireless energy transfer technologies, paving the way for more adaptable and reliable energy solutions in modern engineering applications.
