Abstract

This study wants to answer how Isra Magazine 'frames the issue of terrorism' in the 'Voice of Khadijah' rubric. This study uses a qualitative approach by analyzing news texts on the issue of terrorism using framing device Robert N. Enmant as an analytical tool, namely Define Problem, Causal Interpretation, Moral Evaluation, and Treatment Recommendation. The results of this study found three main frames in the coverage of Isra' Magazine related to the issue of terrorism, namely, first, violations of legal procedures. Police officers (especially Detachment 88) violated legal procedures in an effort to deal with suspected terrorist acts, both in terms of raids, arrests, detentions, and trials. Second, violations of human rights (HAM). The alleged perpetrators of terrorism and their families have become victims of human rights violations by the police and mainstream media reports. Third, the mainstream media is not neutral and objective in covering terrorism. The coverage carried out by the mainstream media often discredits suspected terrorist acts and their families. The mainstream media is accused of being just a mouthpiece for the government, in this case the police. Thus, it can be concluded that Isra' Magazine's position in looking at terrorism issues is that there is a tendency for Isra' Magazine to “defend” suspected terrorist acts and place state apparatus and mainstream media as sources of problems, even though from the beginning they emphasized that there was no special agenda to defend terrorism.

Abstract

This article examines the main message (maghzā) of the choice of the word tijārah in Q.S Aṣ-Ṣaff (61): 10-11. Armed with an understanding that the Qur'an did not come down in a vacuum, its verses will respond to the conditions of Arab society at the time of revelation. Commerce is the livelihood of the Arab community, especially the residents of the city of Mecca. For this reason, the issue of commerce cannot be separated from the context of the revelation of the Qur'an. Commerce in Arabic is defined as tijārah, this word can then be used as the key to see how the Qur'an responds to Arab commerce and provides guidance through it. To find the significance of the use of the word tijārah in the verse, this study uses a ma'nā-cum-maghzā hermeneutic approach. A balanced interpretation method that combines text and context, as well as the past and the present to produce a contextual interpretation. As a result, the use of the word tijārah in this verse is not without meaning, but contains two main messages. First, the shift in perspective (worldview); namely from commerce that is quantitative-material (worldly) to non-material-qualitative (spiritual) commerce. Second, the command to carry out meaningful commerce in totality; namely by strengthening faith in Allah and the Messenger of Allah and fighting in the way of Allah with all his wealth and body and soul.

Abstract

After the ups and downs of the cabinet during the parliamentary democracy or often referred to as liberal democracy, Soekarno implemented a new concept and model of democracy since 1959 called guided democracy. Nahdlatul Ulama which at that time was chaired by KH Idham Chalid accepted Soekarno’s guided democracy concept, and NU was the only Islamic party that accepted guided democracy. The purpose of writing this article is to find out the political thoughts of KH Idham Chalid in accepting the concept of guided democracy. The method used in the preparation of this article uses the historical method, namely heuristics (search for sources), the main primary sources are the Islamic fire magazine published in 1965 and the book Islam and Guided Democracy, both primary sources written directly by KH Idham Chalid. Criticism (source selection), interpretation (interpretation) and historiography (writing). The results of this study are known that KH Idham Chalid accepted the concept of guided democracy because NU’s politics were flexible and chose to cooperate with the authorities, he had the idea that the concept of guided democracy was in accordance with Islamic teachings, namely syuro or deliberation.

Abstract

This article discusses the consistency of thought and movement for the Da'wah of the Mathla'ul Anwar organization in Indonesia. Mathla'ul Anwar (MA) as one of the largest Islamic community organizations (ormas) in Indonesia after Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah at the time of Indonesian independence with the Islamic modernization movement to foster a spirit of struggle among the people so as not to be affected by the exploitation of the imperialists, especially the Banten area. . MA organizations to date maintain the complete guidelines of MA organizations, namely focusing on da'wah, education and social activities. The MA combines the madrasa system with the pesantren system, where this system aims to produce professional preachers who have broad insight and have good morals. The MA until now has the organizational goal of prioritizing amar ma'ruf nahi munkar by developing the institution of Mubaligh Mathla'ul Anwar which contains young da'I cadres. The consistency of Khittah Mathla'ul Anwar as a neutral Islamic community organization does not follow any political issues, even though during the New Order era it had lost the consistency of its organizational foundations. The Supreme Court participated in developing young Indonesian da'I cadres and carried out the activities of the Wattabligh fatwa assembly. The author uses an approach with a literature review method and processing descriptive data. This paper is based on the idea of consistent MA in the basic lines of becoming a mass organization and da'wah movement in society.

Abstract

This article examines the hijab trend among young urban Muslim women in Yogyakarta. This trend in practice is not only related to religious practice. This trend is also related to the existentialist aspect, namely identity as a true Muslim woman. The choice of urban Muslim women's hijab, both size, and model, is an indicator of the relationship of existentialist aspects to this trend. This research uses qualitative methods with this type of field study. To see it, the author uses the Islamic anthropology Talal Asad. Two points are outlined; first, what and how is the basis of Islamic reason (Qur'an and Hadith) when talking about hijab; second, how and to what extent discourse and social relations affect the meaning of the veiled trend. As a result, Q. 24:31 and Q. 33:59 are two verses of the Qur'an that specifically speak of this term. Both are used in legitimizing the legal status of the hijab (closing the aurat). Understanding the two verses has two tendencies, some interpret the verse in a strict sense; textual, others tend to be more adjective; non-textual. The trend of hijab among young urban Muslim women in Yogyakarta has a meaning not only limited to the problem of carrying out religious orders as stated in the Qur'an, but also related to identity status, the ideology that accompanies it, and the process of commodification.

Abstract

The jihad resolution initiated by the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama( NU), Haddratus Shaykh Hashim Asyari, at the beginning of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia (October 1945), proved successful in moving the Islamic masses to fight the Dutch invaders who tried to return to ride the allies in Surabaya. An unequal battle against a heavily armed foreign army The question is, why did the resolution of jihad work? What factors can mobilize the Muslim masses so as to welcome the resolution of jihad? Will the resolution of jihad remain relevant if it is implemented in the present or in the future? The data in this research was obtained through literature reviews, both in indexed journals and book reviews, and by analyzing information in a number of mass media. The findings of this research indicate the success of the resolution of jihad in mobilizing the Islamic masses during the independence period because of a number of things. First, the momentum of the proclamation of August 17, 1945. The moment made all Indonesian people solid, especially Islam. Second, the massive mobilization of resources among Islamic boarding schools, especially the formation of militant masses due to the growth of a kind of belief that welcoming the resolution of jihad is mandatory and when syahid will be rewarded with Paradise. Third, the success of the framing of the fatwa of jihad was because it was initiated by high-reputed scholars and then spread massively by scholars through boarding schools so as to stimulate collective action.
