Abstract

This discourse explores the relationship between Christianity and Islam, two of the world's largest Abrahamic faiths, and their shared foundations rooted in monotheism. Despite theological divergences, both faiths converge on fundamental beliefs that shape their followers' understanding of life and the afterlife. Monotheism serves as a foundational principle that delineates God's character, and influences moral conduct, community bonding, and eschatological expectations. The paper delineates how both religions articulate their conception of God as the singular, all-powerful creator, emphasizing the implications this has for believers in their daily lives and spiritual practices. It examines the ethical frameworks established by both faiths, reflecting on how monotheistic belief systems promote values such as compassion, justice, and accountability. The discourse also discusses the commonality of prophetic traditions within Christianity and Islam, highlighting figures such as Abraham, Moses, and others who serve as pivotal links between the two faiths. The role of scripture, particularly the Bible and the Quran, is discussed as a means through which divine guidance is conveyed, reinforcing the importance of faith in navigating life's challenges and moral dilemmas faced by believers. In a contemporary context marked by religious pluralism and interfaith dialogue, this research emphasizes the need for a deeper understanding of these shared foundations to promote mutual respect and coexistence among diverse religious communities.

Abstract

In the current digital era, the integration of technology into Arabic language learning has become increasingly important. This study aims to explore the impact of digital technology on the learning process and communication skills in Arabic, as well as the emerging psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic implications. The research employs a mixed methods approach, involving data collection through surveys, interviews, and observations among students learning Arabic. Descriptive statistical analysis is used to evaluate the influence of digital technology on communication skills, while qualitative analysis is employed to understand the dynamics of social interaction in the learning context. The findings indicate that the use of digital technology significantly enhances students' speaking and writing skills in Arabic. Furthermore, digital technology also affects patterns of social interaction, with students being more inclined to communicate through digital platforms compared to face-to-face interactions. The sociolinguistic implications of these findings reveal changes in study group dynamics and social structures within the classroom. This study highlights the importance of understanding both the positive and negative impacts of digital technology on Arabic language learning. With a deeper understanding of the psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic implications, educators can develop more effective approaches to integrating digital technology into the Arabic language curriculum. This research is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of Arabic language education in the digital age.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has significantly influenced translation learning methods, particularly with the emergence of innovative tools such as Chat GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer). This study aims to explore the impact of Chat GPT on the quality and efficiency of Indonesian-Arab translation learning. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving quantitative assessments of students' translation skills before and after the integration of Chat GPT in their learning process. Qualitative data were collected through interviews and surveys to gauge students' perceptions of using Chat GPT as a learning tool. The findings indicate a marked improvement in students' translation abilities, with enhanced accuracy and fluency in both Indonesian and Arabic. Participants reported increased engagement and motivation when utilizing Chat GPT, highlighting its effectiveness in facilitating communication and understanding in translation tasks. The study underscores the potential of Chat GPT as a transformative tool in language education, offering a novel approach to overcoming challenges in translation learning. It also emphasizes the need for further research to compare the effectiveness of Chat GPT with traditional teaching methods. This research contributes valuable insights into the integration of AI technology in language education, suggesting that Chat GPT can significantly enhance the learning experience for Indonesian-Arab translation students. Future studies should focus on longitudinal assessments and broader comparative analyses to fully understand the implications of AI in translation pedagogy

Abstract

The study examined the factors preventing the teaching of Arabic in senior secondary schools in Kwara State. The population was 23,458, and a sample of 379 students was selected using Kredjcie and Morgan's table. Multistage sampling procedures were used with purposive sampling to select three Local Government Areas (LGAs) and stratified sampling for seven LGAs. Simple random sampling was used to select 30 public schools, 10 from each LGA. The Adapted Gender and Educational Background as Inhibiting Factors of Teaching Arabic Language Questionnaire (GEBALQ) was used for data collection. The instruments were validated and reliability tested through pilot testing with 40 senior secondary school students. The study used a T-retest method and correlation statistics to analyze the impact of gender and educational background on teaching Arabic in senior secondary schools in Kwara State. The results showed that gender did not significantly inhibit teaching Arabic, while educational background significantly inhibited it. The study concluded that both male and female Arabic language teachers should put more effort and commitment into teaching the subject, as their overall teaching of Arabic language is subpar. Additionally, the study recommended that Arabic language teachers should undergo training and re-training to improve their proficiency in Arabic script, dialects, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, calligraphy, and literature. Overall, the study highlights the need for improved teaching methods and support for both male and female Arabic language teachers in Kwara State.
