Abstract

Decreased mustard plant production is inseparable from the presence of plant pests and disease, one of which is Plutella xylostella. This pest can reduce the yield by 30-40%, even in some cases found to experience crop failure. Generally, in the community, controlling pests is using chemical pesticides. However, excessive use of chemical pesticides harms the environment and triggers health problems in humans, So, biological control is needed. One of them is an entomopathogenic nematode (NEP). Advantages Nematodes are environmentally friendly and are fast in crippling their host, but the multiplication of entomopathogenic nematodes encounters many obstacles, so research on these alternatives is needed. This research was carried out to determine the pathogenicity of entomopathogenic Nematodes cultured from the egg yolk media on Plutella xylostella larvae, then developed as an effective biocontrol. The pathogenicity test for Plutella xylostella larvae was performed using nine treatments placed in a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with each treatment repeated three times. The study indicate that the four bacterial isolates had the same ability to kill Plutella xylostella larvae during four days of observation, with the greatest percentage of 100 percent and the lowest percentage of 76.7 percent.

Abstract

The attack of fruit fly larvae in the flesh of the sweet arum mango can be detected without opening the fruit by a detection method using ultrasonic waves. The characteristics of ultrasonic waves used are attenuation coefficient, speed and zero moment power (Mo). In whole mango, the attenuation coefficient is 36.45 Np/M with ultrasonic wave speed 518.19 m/sec and zero moment power (Mo) 4.58. In its application, the estimation of the damage of the sweet arum mango with ultrasonic waves at the limit of attenuation coefficient of 34.76 Np/M, zero moment power (Mo) 5.60. The estimated attenuation coefficient of more than 34.76 Np/M mango fruit was declared intact, while the attenuation coefficient 34.76 Np/M was thought to have been attacked by fruit fly larvae. At the value of zero moment power (Mo) > 5.6 mangoes are declared intact, but if the Mo is 5.60, it is declared to have been attacked by fruit fly larvae in it. The use of the ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04 is effective in detecting the attack of fruit fly larvae (Bactrocera dorsalis) in the flesh of the sweet arum mango at a distance of 6 cm with a warning sound indicator on the LCD. If the output voltage value on the LCD shows > 30 mV, the buzzer will sound which indicates that the fruit inside has softened due to being attacked by fruit fly larvae or due to impact, on the contrary if the output voltage value is 30 mV and the buzzel does not sound, it indicates the mango is still healthy and intact.

Abstract

Assessment of soil fertility status can be done through a soil test approach, but the main problem is the difficulty of predicting the nutrient content in the soil. This requires laboratory testing and takes several times, while the nutrient requirements must be known immediately so that plants can grow ideally. In the last few decades, researchers have been trying to find alternative methods that are fast, innovative, effective, environmentally friendly, and non-destructive to predict nutrient concentrations. One of the technologies that are currently developing rapidly and has the potential to be used to detect/predict the nutrient content is near-infrared reflectance (NIR). Many studies have been conducted and reported related to the application of close-range infrastructure technology, especially for speed and soil quality. This paper discusses several reviews of research in Aceh Province related to the application of NIRS Technology to detect soil fertility. The NIR technique is an analytical technique that is fast and does not damage the sample of the material to be tested. Information on chemicals based on biological reactions after exposure to NIR radiation. Near-infrared light is available in the wavelength range up to 780 nm to 2500 nm or above visible light. When a ray coming from a light source A falls on a biological object, there will be an interaction between the object and the light. The object's location will respond in the form of reflection, absorbance and transmission. The reflection response can be in the form of direct reflection (specular reflectance) which means that light is reflected back by objects, pseudo reflection (diffuse reflectance) where light is first and then reflected. This research about NIR technology, it can solve problems, especially regarding the improvement and evaluation of soil fertility by predicting the right model to measure the nutrient content of the soil.

Abstract

Early adolescent smoking behavior is a complex activity, which is formed through several stages. Not all teenagers who take the initiative to smoke will end up as active smokers. Many factors influence the formation of adolescent smoking behavior. The study aims to explore the stages of early teenagers' cigarette encounters until becoming a smoker in Tegal City, Province of Central Java, Indonesia. The researcher has done in-depth qualitative interviews with thirty-five participants. Study participants are male smoker adolescents. Data analysis used themes. The researcher broke the finding down into four stages. The four stages are to encounter cigarettes, try smoking, consider being a smoker, and enjoy smoking. Most teenagers learn from parents and peers about cigarettes. The reason for most adolescents' attempts was that older playmates threatened them. Peers and parents are crucial factors in shaping early adolescent smoking behavior. To stop smoking behavior, both parties must be actively interested in health promotion activities. The results of the study can be used as a reference in the preparation of adolescent smoking behavior prevention programs based on the condition of adolescents.

Abstract

The implementation of siskamling activities carried out by rotating patrols by residents is a form of system in maintaining community security. In the management of scheduling and delivery of information on the patrol schedule in the siskamling, it is still done manually, so it requires a variety of handicapping tools, a place to store recording tools, inflexible management times, and various means of delivering information. The manual system is also vulnerable to further problems, such as losing patrol schedule records, large record storage areas because records are piling up, and patrol schedule information that does not reach residents because the information media used is not easy to access. This study aims to produce an application that can facilitate the activities of managing the security guard patrol schedule and become a medium for conveying patrol schedule information to residents. The application is also one of the implementations of efforts to become a smart village. The application that will be developed in this research is called E-Siskamling (electronic siskamling). E-Siskamling will be developed using the SDLC (system development live cycle) methodology. This methodology has six development phases, namely feasibility study, investigation, analysis, design, implementation, as well as review and maintenance. This paper will describe the analysis and design of the application, which is part of the iteration phase. The analysis phase is carried out by making a document of the functional and non-functional requirements analysis of the system. For the design includes system design and database design. The system design uses the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and the database design uses a conceptual model design called CDM and a physical model design called PDM. The results of this study are in the form of analysis (functional and non functional analysis documents) and design (UML, CDM, anf PDM) documents. The conclusion in this initial research is that the analysis and design documents are feasible to be used for the next stage, namely application development.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with abundant and diverse natural resources so that it is known as mega biodiversity. The high biodiversity in Indonesia is partly due to its geographic location as a tropical country. Meanwhile, plants belonging to the Caricaceae are one of the groups of plants that are very easy to find, affordable prices, and can be grown in most areas in Indonesia. During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the student study service from home (Indonesian: Kuliah Kerja Nyata – Virtual Dari Rumah - or KKN-VDR) requires college students to explore the potential of their place of residence, so knowledge about Caricaceae needs to be explored and studied to find out its potential use. This study aims to determine college students' knowledge of Caricaceae around where they live. This study uses a survey method. The results showed that the knowledge of student study service on the Caricaceae in several aspects had not yet reached what was desired. Thus it is necessary to conduct a joint evaluation to encourage the Indonesian student to be more critical in recognizing the potential of natural resources so that they can make the best use of them for welfare, especially Caricaceae.
