The results of this study are as follows, showing that the teaching materials that have been developed can be categorized as "Very Appropriate". This is evidenced by the results of the average score obtained from the experts, amounting to 97.6. The average score obtained from media experts is 106, from material experts is 96, and from teaching experts (teachers as users) is 92. The results of student responses to digital modules that have been implemented are 95.5. Based on this explanation, it can be concluded that research on the development of digital modules for narrative text material for seventh grade students of junior high school is expected to be able to use this digital module optimally in the process of teaching and learning activities and of course it can improve the quality of the process and learning outcomes in narrative texts.

The samples were approximately 57 students, with detail were 4 classes of 7th grade. The design of the research was descriptive quantitative. The instrument was English grammar and vocabulary test to measure students’ skill. The results of the research showed that the total average score from grade 7th, their total average score was 33, their average vocabulary score was 20 and then their average grammar score was 44. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the 7th grade students’ vocabulary and grammar skills of SMPN 17 Bengkulu City were still low, also the difference between their average grammar and vocabularyscores of grade 7 was very far, but both’s scores were still under the minimum score (75). This phenomenon could have been prevented if junior high school students had received English background knowledge when they were still in elementary school. This phenomenon is what the researchers are trying to show that this is the effect of not getting background knowledge of English when they were in elementary school. Of course this will cause problems for these students in the future, because the level of difficulty in terms of English study they will encounter in the future will be more difficult.

Abstract

The abstract in every research paper has always served as an attention-grabber, either encouraging readers to continue reading the research or discouraging them from doing so. This research is aimed to find the most dominant move and step of thesis abstract by undergraduate students and to identify any differences. This research used a mix method approach. The design of this research is descriptive, using quantitative as well as qualitative data. The data was taken from thirty undergraduate thesis abstracts of Education faculty from University of Bengkulu who graduated between 2019 to 2022. Hyland’s five-move model will be used for research instrument. The result showed that, the majority and most dominant moves that found were Move 2 (purpose) 100%, followed by Move 3 (Method) 97%, Move 4 (Product) 97% and Move 5 (Conclusion) 80%, while the most dominant Step that found was Step 1 of Move 2 (Stating the purpose directly) 100%. Also, there is no significant differences of Move from the three study programs (English, Physic and Guidance and Counselling). Conclusion, most of the students were simply following the “Thesis Writing Guidelines” in writing their abstracts. Therefore, it would be better for the department in charge to revise the guidelines and use this research as a reference or guidance for a better abstract writing.
