Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini mendeskripsikan kecepatan efektif membaca teks nonfiksi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kota Bengkulu. Jenis penelitian adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 32 orang yaitu siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kota Bengkulu. Penentuan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling, dan instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah instrument tes. Validitas dan reabilitas diakukan dengan cara validitas isi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis statistik deskriptif. Berdasarkan deskripsi penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa hasil tes kecepatan efektif membaca teks nonfiksi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kota Bengkulu termasuk ke dalam kategori sedang, dan rata-rata hasil tes kecepatan efektif membaca teks nonfiksi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Kota Bengkulu menunjukkan hasil kecepatan efektif membaca dengan skor tertinggi yang dicapai oleh responden dengan persentase pemahaman 79% dan rata-rata waktu yang digunakan adalah 1.89 menit. Data tersebut merupakan hasil tes responden siswa sebanyak 32 orang.

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan sarana yang digunakan untuk memperoleh suatu proses pembelajaran yang berguna untuk mengembangkan kemampuan peserta didik serta sebagai usaha untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mendeskripsikan penggunaan media gambar bertema konservasi lingkungan pada pembelajaran menulis puisi. (2) mendeskripsikan faktor penghambat dan pendukung penerapan media gambar bertema konservasi lingkungan dalam pembelajaran menulis puisi pada siswa kelas X TKJ SMK Negeri 6 Kota Bengkulu. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menemukan beberapa temuan mengenai implementasi penggunaan media gambar bertema konservasi lingkungan pada pembelajaran menulis puisi siswa kelas X TKJ SMK Negeri 6 Kota Bengkulu yaitu: (1) perencanaan yang dilakukan oleh guru dan siswa sebelum pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dalam implementasi penggunaan media gambar bertema konservasi lingkungan (2) pelaksanaan  implementasi penggunaan media gambar bertema konservasi lingkungan dalam pembelajaran menulis puisi siswa kelas X TKJ (3) evaluasi implementasi penggunaan media gambar bertema konservasi lingkungan pada pembelajaran menulis puisi hanya dilakukan di akhir pembelajaran berupa hasil menulis puisi.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perwatakan tokoh-tokoh dalam Novel Laut Bercerita Karya Leila S. Chudori. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik analisis data (a) Peneliti menganalisis unsur-unsur novel Laut Bercerita yang mendukung perwatakan tokoh-tokoh novel Laut Bercerita (b) Peneliti menganalisis perwatakan tokoh-tokoh novel Laut Bercerita karya Laila S.Chudori. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa data yang memuat unsur-unsur novel Laut Bercerita. Unsur-Unsur tersebut adalah tema, alur, dan latar. Tema dalam novel Laut Bercerita karya Laila S.Chudori adalah legitimasi dan perjuangan melawan masa Orde Baru.Alur dari Novel Laut Bercerita adalah alur maju yang mendeskripsikan pengenalan tokoh, pokok persoalan dan klimaks cerita. Latar cerita novel Laut Bercerita banyak terjadi di Desa, Kampus dan di Sekretariat. Pokok pembahasan dalam penelitian ini adalah Biru Laut dalam novel Laut Bercerita digambarkan pengarang sebagai tokoh yang memiliki watak bersemangat, tidak mudah terpengaruh/teguh pendirian, pendiam, pemalu, penyayang, pemberani, pantang menyerah, dan tenang. Ditinjau dari segi psikologi sastra Sigmund Freud tokoh Biru Laut memiliki id berupa mudah khawatir atau cemas, pendiam.  Ego pemalu, penyayang. Super Ego pemberani, tenang, bersemangat dan pantang menyerah

Abstract

The existence of technology in education has impact tremendously in learning. This greatly facilitates the experience of students in order not to be monotonous and boring. The usefulness of the media learning app is very accepted by the public because it allows users, especially for Students. Advantages in the use of media applications can add new knowledge to a lesson. To facilitate the learning experience of the student, to learning to speak German can use the app Quizizz. Features. Quizizz is very easy for students to understand and explore a learning material. This research was conducted by interviewing 10 students of education German language ever use the app Quizizz with the aim to see the opinion of the experience of students who learn using the application. Based on the results of this research, many of the students of the educational program of the German language, said that the experience of learning with the application quizizz is very easy to understand the material of the German language and is also very effective in explore and evaluate his understanding.

Abstract

This paper aims to identify the different types of language disorders that a man with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), especially Asperger Syndrome (AS), can experience. The information was in the form of phonemes, words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that he used in his everyday utterances as the leader of a local conservation group. The objective of this research is to classify different types of pragmatic impairment in AS characters and to clarify the pragmatic impairment that AS individuals face in his everyday life which conclude unresponsive, unbalanced, mismatched, lack of control and lack of playfulness based on the research problems. Academically, this analysis is intended to make substantial contributions to the fields of psycholinguistics and pragmatics. It's relevant to the psycholinguistics perspective because it's about the disability. It is a practical guide that professionals, lecturers, students, physicians, language pathologists, therapists, and readers from a variety of fields can use.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to apply an effective learning model in increasing the ability to appreciate literature while at the same time increasing the interest and ability of the students of SMP Negeri 14 Binjai towards literary works. The research conducted was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the research subject of 25 grade IX students of SMP Negeri 14 Binjai in the 2020/2021 academic year. The object of this research is the ability of students to rewrite the contents of the story (rewrite), retell the story (retell), and conclude the moral message as well as relate it to student life (reflection). The learning process to appreciate literature is carried out in two cycles through four stages, namely: the action planning stage, the action implementation stage, the observation stage, and the analysis and reflection stage. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the students' ability to appreciate literature increases, this is indicated by the increase in the results of the three tests (rewrite, retell, reflection) of students at the end of each cycle. The average value of students' appreciation of literature has increased in each cycle, namely: 1) in the initial survey as many as 7 students (28%) of the total students who achieved a complete score, with an overall average score of 62.76; 2) in the first cycle, 15 students (60%) achieved a complete score, with an average overall score of 66.88; 3) in the second cycle there was a drastic increase in student mastery, namely a total of 25 students (100%) achieving a complete score with an average value of 78.8.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to investigate the substantial difference in public speaking abilities between students with a natural science and social science background in their high school, and to investigate the students’ point of view related to this issue. This study is a case study approach that is naturally qualitative, which involved 163 students of English Education Study Program, at one state university on North Sumatera province. Semi-structured techniques were used for data collection. The data collected in this study then were inspected out by using two methods; statistical count for quantitative data related to students’ senior high school educational background, and particular substances analysis for qualitative data related to students’ performance in their public speaking. Questionnaire and interview were conducted to assemble the data related to students’ experiences and involvements in taking the public speaking subject and its practice based on their educational background in senior high school, and to collect the students’ opinion related to this difference. The analysis resulted that natural science students in average achieve score 3.58, meanwhile social science students in average achieve score 3.51. The difference is 0.07 point or 1.4%. The average score between the students in natural science and social science can be stated as not significantly different. In addition, generally, all the students who were interviewed believed that public speaking competency is not correlated with majoring in senior high school.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the students difficulties in answering reading comprehension questions of report text and the causes of the students difficulties in answering reading comprehension questions of report text. The participants of this research were 63 third grade students at SMPN 1 Bengkulu Selatan. This research used descriptive quantitative as research design. The data were obtained through the reading comprehension test and interview section. The reading comprehension test was adapted from Mandiri textbook published by Tiga Serangkai consisted 25 questions of multiple choice. The reading comprehension test was validated by using the interpretation guidelines according to SPSS. In reliability obtains by using Cronbach’s Alpha formula in SPSS software. The result of this research showed that students faced some difficulties in answering reading comprehension questions of report text and there were some causes of their difficulties in answering reading comprehension questions of report text. The students difficulties in answering reading comprehension questions were locating pronouns, understanding vocabulary and making inference. Making inference became the most difficult aspect with percentage of students who answered questions about making inference incorrectly was 73%. The causes of students difficulties in answering reading comprehension questions of report text were lack of vocabulary, lack of strategies and lack of interest or motivation.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to investigate the classroom managements based on curriculum 2013 applied by the English teachers of SMP Negeri 9 Kota Bengkulu in the academic years 2021/2022. The subjects consisted of three English teachers that were; teacher A (Female), teacher B (Female), and teacher C (Male). This research utilized descriptive qualitative method. The data were obtained by the observation checklist and interview guideline. The results of this study displayed those three English teachers applied 10 of 10 the components of classroom management curriculum 2013, but the teachers did not apply all the features. Teacher A dominantly used 3 of 10 components there were; 1) Teacher Feedback, 2) Teacher Wardrobe and 3) Adjusting the Material with The Students’ Learning Ability, with the total of all component’s percentage 73.4%. Teacher B also dominantly used 3 of 10 components such as; 1) Teacher Voice, 2) Time Management and 3) Teacher Wardrobe, with the total of all component’s percentage 73.4%. In contrast, teacher C dominantly applied 4 of 10 components there were; 1) Teacher Feedback, 2) Students’ Talking Time, 3) Teacher Wardrobe and 4) Adjusting the Material with The Students’ Learning ability, with the total of all component’s percentage 80%. In conclusion, three English teachers applied all the components of classroom management, but they did not apply all the features.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the types and meanings of lexemic idiomatic expressions in the Eaternal Nocturnal webtoon. This research used a qualitative method. The object of this research is the script of dialogues and narrations of the characters in Eaternal Nocturnal webtoon, namely episode two to episode six. The researcher used data sheets and tables as instruments. The researcher identified and categorized each expression based on Makkai's theory (1972) and using three dictionaries related to idioms, namely Farlex Dictionary of Idioms, Dictionary of American Idioms by McGraw-Hill's, and NCT's American Idioms Dictionary, then matched the meanings of lexemic idiomatic expressions from the dictionaries with the co-text contained in the dialogues or narrations of the characters to analyze the data. The results showed that there were six types of lexemic idiomatic expressions in the Eaternal Nocturnal webtoon, namely Phrasal Verb idioms, Tournure idioms, Irreversible Binomial idioms, Phrasal Compound idioms, Incorporating Verb idioms, and Pseudo idioms. In determining the meaning must be based on the co-text because an idiom contains many meanings. Keywords: Idiomatic, Lexemic Idiomatic Expressions, Webtoon
