SPEKTA (Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat: Teknologi dan Aplikasi) dengan nomor registrasi ISSN 2723-8008 (cetak) dan ISSN 2723-8016 (online) adalah jurnal multidisiplin ilmiah yang diterbitkan oleh Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. Jurnal Ini merupakan jurnal yang mencakup masalah mengenai penerpan aplikasi teknologi kepdalam masyarakat. Tujuan publikasi jurnal ini adalah untuk menyebarluaskan pemikiran konseptual atau gagasan dan hasil penelitian yang telah dicapai di bidang pelayanan kepada masyarakat. SPEKTA (Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat: Teknologi dan Aplikasi) terbit sejak bulan Juni 2020 tepatnya sejak perilisan Volume 1, Nomor 1, Tahun 2020. SPEKTA (Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat: Teknologi dan Aplikasi) memiliki fokus utama pada pengembangan ilmu-ilmu di ranah pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Lingkup ranah pengabdian kepada masyarakat antara lain meliputi Teknologi Tepat Guna, Perancangan dan Pengembangan Produk, Technopreneur, Aplikasi Teknologi, dan Teknologi Informasi dan System Informasi. Setiap naskah yang masuk akan dibaca oleh tim editorial. Naskah-naskah yang dievaluasi oleh editor dan dianggap tidak sesuai dengan kriteria jurnal akan ditolak tanpa tinjauan eksternal. Naskah yang kami nilai berpotensi menarik bagi pembaca dikirim ke peer reviewer. Setelah dilakukan review naskah oleh reviewer, naskah akan dikembalikan kepada penulis untuk direvisi. Tim editor membuat keputusan berdasarkan rekomendasi reviewer. SPEKTA (Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat: Teknologi dan Aplikasi) terbit 2 kali dalam 1 Tahun yaitu bulan Juni dan Desember.

Abstract

Background: The low interest of the younger generation in Malay hand-drawn batik and the limitations of interactive learning media pose challenges in efforts to preserve local culture. This study aims to develop more attractive and accessible digital educational media through the integration of Web Augmented Reality (WebAR) and Web Virtual Reality (WebVR). Contribution: This activity contributes to providing an immersive web-based cultural education platform that does not require the installation of any applications, so that it can be used by the general public, especially the younger generation and batik SME players, to improve cultural literacy and promotional effectiveness. Method: The approach used was the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC), which includes the stages of concept, design, material collection, assembly, and testing. The testing phase consisted of alpha testing by experts and usability testing involving 60 young users aged 15–30 years. Results: The usability testing results showed a very good acceptance rate, namely 92% for ease of use, 88% for increased interest in batik, 84% for attractiveness compared to conventional media, and 92% for the usefulness of the application as a promotional medium. Conclusion: The development of the WebAR and WebVR platforms successfully fulfilled the research objectives, namely to provide more attractive, interactive, and accessible digital educational media to increase the younger generation's understanding and interest in Malay hand-drawn batik motifs.

Abstract

Background: Solar energy utilization holds great potential to be introduced at an early age, especially for elementary school students in island regions such as Tidung Island, which receives high solar radiation throughout the year. However, the lack of hands-on, interactive learning media and limited teacher understanding of photovoltaic (PV) technology have become major obstacles in renewable energy education. Contribution: This study proposes an interactive PV learning kit (SolarPuz-Kit) as a technology-enhanced educational intervention to enhance teachers’ and students’ competencies. It also contributes to the development of experiential learning approaches in renewable energy education. Method: This study employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving elementary school students. The implementation stages include the development of a portable PV trainer kit, and hands-on learning intervention sessions. Results: The trainer kit consists of a 30 Wp solar panel and various electrical components for simulating DC energy distribution. Evaluation through pre- and post-tests revealed a significant improvement in student understanding—an 85% increase, from an average score of 36.47 to 67.64. Conclusion: The results demonstrate that the interactive SolarPuz-Kit effectively enhances renewable energy literacy and technical problem-solving skills among students. This study highlights the effectiveness of hands-on, game-based learning in supporting conceptual understanding and provides a scalable instructional strategy for renewable energy education in remote island contexts.

Abstract

Background: The objective of this community empowerment initiative is centered on community participation to overcome issues of limited technical capacity, business management, and market access that hinder the optimization of agricultural potential in Bansari Village, Temanggung Regency. Contribution: Main focus of the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach is local community assets as the basis for strengthening the hydroponic agriculture-based economy. This study shows how mapping and optimizing human, social, natural, financial, technological, and spiritual assets can be a strategy for community economic empowerment. Method: The study used a mixed method design with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The research informants consisted of 10 people selected through purposive sampling, while quantitative data was obtained from 40 farmers who were members of the community. Qualitative data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, while quantitative data was analyzed descriptively using a Likert scale. Results: The research results show that the ABCD approach can optimize various local community assets in developing hydroponic businesses. The program evaluation revealed that 77% of respondents gave a positive assessment of the empowerment activities. Conclusion: The program also resulted in improved technical skills in hydroponic cultivation, additional income for farmers, and strengthened social solidarity within the community.

Abstract

Background: This community service program aimed to address gaps in digital assessment literacy among Community Learning Center (CLC) teachers in Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia, and to support more engaging assessment practices in low-resource educational settings. Contribution: The program enhanced teachers’ practical capacity to design and implement game-based digital assessments and provided limited infrastructure support to improve the feasibility of sustained use in CLC classrooms. Method: The program was designed using the Community Tool Box framework, emphasizing community needs assessment and an evaluation plan. It was delivered through two modes: an online training session and an in-person workshop. Results: The online training involved 117 educators from multiple CLCs across Sabah, followed by an in-person workshop with approximately 100 teachers in Tawau. Participants produced or designed game-based digital assessment activities using Blooket as a hands-on output, and post-program support included educational grants (projectors, laptops, and a Blooket Plus account) to strengthen implementation sustainability. Conclusion: The two-mode training model produced concrete assessment outputs and strengthened readiness to integrate game-based digital assessment in CLC contexts. Future work should extend evaluation toward classroom-level impact and test replication across CLC districts with varying resource constraints.

Abstract

Background: The rapid advancement of digital technology has encouraged the development of learning approaches that support not only knowledge acquisition but also collaboration and interaction. Contribution: This study proposes a Mixed Reality (MR)-based solar system learning media with multiplayer features to enhance technological literacy and student interaction in elementary education. Methods: An evaluative mixed-method approach was employed involving 37 students and 8 teachers at SDIT Daarul Jihad. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and interviews, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and qualitative interpretation. Results: The findings show that the MR-based learning media was positively perceived by both teachers and students. More than 88% of teachers reported improved student understanding and engagement, while over 90% of students experienced increased motivation and ease of use. In addition, 76.9% of students demonstrated high to very high confidence in explaining solar system concepts. The multiplayer feature also supported collaborative interaction and active discussion during learning activities. Conclusions: The MR-based collaborative learning media demonstrates strong potential in enhancing both cognitive and social aspects of learning in elementary education and provides practical insights into the integration of immersive collaborative learning technologies in classroom settings.

Abstract

Background: Sawdust is one of the most abundant by-products of wood utilization in rural communities near forest areas. In Manggang Village, West Kalimantan, sawdust waste is commonly piled up or burned, causing environmental problems. This community service activity aimed to introduce the utilization of sawdust waste as a raw material for particleboard production to increase its economic value and reduce environmental pollution. Contribution: The activity promoted community awareness of sawdust waste utilization through the introduction of particleboard production as a value-added product. Method: The community service activity was conducted in Manggang Village, Landak Regency, West Kalimantan. The implementation stages included planning, material preparation, demonstration of particleboard manufacturing, monitoring, and evaluation. Results: Community understanding of environmental pollution caused by sawdust waste increased from 30% to 67%. Knowledge of particleboard manufacturing increased from 50% to 90%. Understanding of particleboard utilization as furniture increased from 43% to 100% and awareness of its economic potential increased from 50% to 100%. The results indicate that the activity successfully enhanced both environmental awareness and practical skills related to sawdust utilization. Conclusion: The activity successfully improved community knowledge regarding sawdust waste utilization and particleboard manufacturing. The activity demonstrated that community education can support environmentally sustainable waste management while creating opportunities for value-added products in rural communities.

Abstract

Background: Coffee farmers in Belatungan Village, Bali, face challenges, including low economic returns and environmental degradation due to inefficient waste management. The study aims to improve economic sustainability and environmental health by integrating the principles of circular economy and digital marketing. This intervention involves converting coffee husk waste into biochar and promoting digital marketing strategies to improve market access. Contribution: This study expands the market reach and income potential of farmers through digital marketing. This study contributes to rural economic development and environmental sustainability by implementing a circular economy model in agriculture while integrating digital tools for empowerment. Method: A Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach was used, involving farmers in the design, implementation, and evaluation of projects. The methodology includes technical training on biochar production, digital marketing, and ongoing mentoring. Results: The intervention successfully converted 80% of coffee husk waste into biochar, leading to a 15% increase in land productivity and a 25% reduction in chemical fertilizer usage. Additionally, digital marketing efforts, including e-commerce activation and eco-friendly packaging, resulted in a 20% increase in online sales and a 15-20% increase in farmers' income. Conclusion: The study successfully achieved its goal by integrating circular-economy practices with digital marketing, thereby improving economic and environmental outcomes for coffee farmers.

Abstract

Background: The rapid advancement of science and technology requires elementary school students to develop core competencies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), along with early digital literacy. However, STEM implementation in primary education remains limited due to inadequate infrastructure, disparities in teacher competence, and minimal exposure to emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). Contribution: This program introduces an integrated training framework that simultaneously combines STEM learning, computational thinking, and practical AI applications for elementary school teachers. Method: An evaluative approach with a quantitative descriptive design was employed. The program was conducted in three stages: preparation, training, and evaluation. The preparation stage involved needs analysis through classroom observations and interviews. The training stage consisted of two intensive sessions covering computational thinking, basic coding using Scratch, generative AI, AI ethics, and prompt engineering. Results: The results demonstrate a measurable improvement in teachers’ competencies, with the average percentage score increasing from 66% to 84%. The most significant improvements were observed in algorithmic understanding, computational thinking, ethical awareness of AI usage, and the application of digital tools such as Scratch and AI-assisted design platforms. Conclusion: The program effectively enhanced teacher readiness to implement structured STEM learning and demonstrated the potential of integrating AI into teacher professional development at the elementary level.

Abstract

Background: The current demands of Industry Revolution 4.0 require highly skilled vocational graduates who are skilled in the fundamental technology of automation, including pneumatic control systems. Meanwhile, SMKN 1 Windusari Mechanical Engineering have competency shortage as the school does not have physical equipment in the form of trainer kits in the field of electropneumatic. Contribution: The aim is to improve the technical skill and competency level of students in the control pneumatic systems to be able to meet industry demands as a requisite baseline of smart automation in the Industry 4.0 era. Method: Basically, this program used measurable training methodology, simulation, and hands-on. But the course process involves three stages: situation analysis, preparation, intensive and measured training (1st day: seminar, 2nd day: practical training, simulation), then evaluation and projected outcomes. Results: In quantitative terms, the program realized a gain in knowledge for the students, with the average test score increasing from 66.67 to 72.00 (grade 0-100). Qualitatively, the students can make some electro-pneumatic circuits, like stamping unit, vertical inventory, conveyor line separator, vertical inventory to storage, etc. Conclusion: This Community Service Program has successfully addressed its primary objective: the enhancement of technical competencies in pneumatic control systems as a fundamental element of smart automation in the Industry 4.0 era among SMKN 1 Windusari students.

Abstract

Background: KHDTK Wanagama I have strong interactions with surrounding communities, many of whom rely on cattle farming.  However, many farmers have not adequately considered the environmental pollution impacts associated with cattle farming activities. Therefore, an alternative utilization of organic waste in the form of cow manure was implemented through biogas production, which can be used as a household-scale fuel. Contribution: This study contributes by integrating technical redesign of small-scale biogas system with a participatory community-based approach, supported by measurable performance indicators. This study evaluates system performance, durability improvement, and practical usability, providing a replicate model for sustainable rural biogas implementation. Method: A participatory action research approach was applied through baseline surveys, stakeholder coordination, biogas system redesign, technical implementation, and performance evaluation using technical and social indicators. Results: The system produced approximately 0.20 m3/day of biogas from one cow, with a digester capacity of 2.01 m3 and a loading period of about 10 days. This output enables 45-50 minutes of daily cooking, indicating that the system technically feasible for basic household energy needs in small scale rural settings. Conclusion: Through this community service activity, it is expected that a fostered village and biogas demonstration site utilizing cow manure can be established and utilized by the community for household or group needs, as well as serve as an environmental education site for learning about environmentally friendly alternative energy.
