Abstract

This article aims to describe and analyze tolerance education in interfaith families from the perspective of Indonesian assistance. Indonesian assistance aims to develop abilities and quality of life as well as increase the dignity of the Indonesian people. This is based on the religious and socio-cultural values ​​of Indonesian society. This article is qualitative in nature with a reflective-analytical thinking approach. The data used in this research comes from previous research which discusses the harmonious life of families of different religions. The results of the research found that tolerance education in families of different religions reflects Indonesian support. In this educational practice, relationships of friendship, mutual cooperation, brotherhood, solidarity and an attitude of sharing are obtained. This forms a harmonious and inclusive family based on a concrete understanding and practice of tolerance

Abstract

Church growth is often viewed only from a quantitative aspect; however, the true success of ministry lies in the spiritual quality of the congregation, which is influenced by the active role of the pastor. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of pastoral visitation as a supporting factor for church growth amid changing times that demand an increase in the quality of shepherding ministry. Using a qualitative approach with the library research method, grounded in Rawambaku’s theoretical framework and supported by phenomenological observation, this research explores literature related to the interaction between pastor and congregation. The findings show that the effectiveness of visitation is determined by the pastor’s integrity and attitude of service, which include a servant’s heart, love, and exemplary character in embracing the spiritual needs of the congregation. Through regular visitation, pastors can understand the real condition of the congregation, provide relevant motivation, and restore relationships that directly impact the improvement of both the quality of faith and the quantity of church members. It is concluded that pastoral visitation is an effective strategy to stimulate church growth because it fosters personal spiritual maturity and ensures that every soul is nurtured according to the truth of God’s Word.

Abstract

Christian Religious Education (PAK) in Christian schools often relies on a cognitive approach that is less able to involve the emotional and spiritual dimensions of students, so that the strengthening of Christian values ​​is limited. This study aims to examine the effect of music-based learning on strengthening Christian values ​​in students at SMA Negeri 10 Latuhalat, Ambon City. With a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that music is effective in strengthening the understanding of the values ​​of love, forgiveness, and humility, as well as encouraging students' emotional and spiritual growth. In addition, music-based activities increase students' active participation, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and encourage changes in students' attitudes to be more caring, honest, and humble. The implications of these findings indicate the importance of a music-based approach in PAK learning to enrich affective learning models and support creative and spiritual education policies in Christian schools.

Abstract

The concept of Missio Dei is rooted in the mission of the Triune God who sends and calls the Church to participate in the work of redemption and restoration of the world in a cross-cultural and holistic manner. However, within Indonesia’s pluralistic context, there remains a theological need to articulate a contextual understanding of Missio Dei, particularly in relation to reaching marginalized and unreached people groups. This study aims to explicate the theological foundations of Missio Dei and to formulate incarnational and holistic principles as a conceptual framework for mission that is relevant within Indonesia’s socio-cultural plurality. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach through a literature-based study in theology and missiology, this research involves theological-conceptual analysis, critical examination of incarnational principles grounded in the kenosis of Christ, holistic principles oriented toward shalom, and contextual interpretation within the Indonesian setting. The findings indicate that Missio Dei must be understood through an incarnational approach that emphasizes contextualization of the Gospel and respect for local epistemologies, as well as a holistic approach aimed at the restoration of the totality of human life. This study contributes by offering an incarnational-holistic theological framework as a reflective foundation for the development of ethical, contextual, and transformative cross-cultural mission praxis in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research explores the phenomenon of make-up usage among generation alpha children, who are growing up amidst intense digital culture exposure, examined through the lens of the Theology of the Body. As a generation exposed to social media from an early age, generation alpha faces the pressure of digital beauty standards that risk shifting the understanding of the body from a sacred subject to a mere aesthetic object. Using a descriptive-qualitative analysis method through theological and sociological approaches, this article examines whether early-age make-up use serves as a means of self-expression that beautifies or instead damages the meaning of the body as Imago Dei (Image of God). The analysis shows that the Theology of the Body views the body not merely as outward matter but as a sacrament reflecting the divine presence. Therefore, the use of make-up for generation alpha requires balanced pastoral guidance and theological education to maintain the integrity of bodily dignity, ensuring that outward beauty does not overshadow the essence of the body as a holy gift from God.

Abstract

This article examines the Prophet Micah’s critique of nepotism through the lens of social justice theological hermeneutics. The historical background of eighth-century BCE Judah reveals systemic abuses of power, land confiscation, and political patronage that undermined the social order. Micah exposes this corruption through sharp prophetic rhetoric, portraying leaders as betrayers of their divine mandate. This analysis finds that modern nepotism shares structural similarities with the injustices of Micah’s era, namely the erosion of meritocracy and the weakening of social solidarity. The novelty of this research lies in positioning nepotism as an independent theological category within the interpretation of the Book of Micah. The research results affirm that the struggle against nepotism encompasses three crucial dimensions: (1) as an ethical agenda in social life; (2) as a prophetic calling to embody God's justice (mishpat) in the public sphere; and (3) as a theological calling to restore the integrity of public spirituality centered on faith loyalty and the rejection of exclusive privileges. Consequently, this article grounds Micah's message as an instrument of socio-political transformation relevant to the context of modern leadership in Indonesia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan merumuskan landasan teologis dalam merespons fenomena xenofobia di Indonesia melalui perspektif eklesiologi diaspora berdasarkan teks 1 Petrus 2:11–17. Eskalasi konflik etnis dan penolakan terhadap entitas asing menuntut gereja memiliki navigasi etis yang menempatkan identitas kekristenan sebagai subjek yang merangkul keberagaman secara radikal. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kepustakaan dan analisis hermeneutika biblika. Analisis difokuskan pada dialog interdisipliner antara eksegesis teks dengan realitas sosiopolitik kontemporer di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konstruksi identitas jemaat sebagai paroikous kai parepidēmous (perantau dan pendatang) berfungsi sebagai strategi bertahan hidup etis sekaligus dekonstruksi terhadap klaim teritorial absolut. Penelitian ini merumuskan proposisi Eklesiologi Diaspora Liminal yang mendorong gereja menjadi ruang ketiga bagi rekonsiliasi sosial. Gereja dipanggil meninggalkan model pelayanan karitatif yang segregatif dan bertransformasi menjadi komunitas peziarah yang menjunjung martabat manusia melampaui sekat suku, etnis, maupun bangsa. Pengakuan akan status diaspora memungkinkan umat beriman melawan xenofobia melalui integritas moral dan keramahtamahan di ruang publik yang asing.

Abstract

This article maintains that John 8:3–11 can be read not only as a story of mercy, but also as an adjudicative account in which Jesus takes a judicial role. Although many interpretations rightly give attention to Jesus' compassion and to his offer of life for the woman brought before him, this study argues that the offer comes through judgment rather than apart from it. The article, using qualitative library research and a narrative-juridical approach, examines the pericope as a case set before an authoritative figure and followed through accusation, norm, response, and final disposition. Jesus, in this reading, receives the case, examines it by exposing the accusers' moral and procedural failure, delivers a verdict that redirects the whole matter, and resolves it through a final statement that gives status and makes moral transformation possible. John 8:3–11, therefore, is better seen not as the lack of judgment, but as restorative judgment in which mercy becomes the manner of a just decision.

Abstract

This study examines Acts 13:46-47 as a pivotal moment of oikonomic transition within God’s redemptive plan, situating Paul’s declaration in the synagogue of Pisidian Antioch firmly within the framework of Mid-Acts Dispensationalism. Employing a qualitative, library-based research approach, the study integrates Greek linguistic analysis of the terms apōtheisthe, strapheisometha, and ethnē; a historical-narrative investigation into the social context of the Jewish diaspora and the dynamics of the early church; and a dispensational theological interpretation that sharply distinguishes the program of Israel from that of the Church, the Body of Christ. A review of contemporary scholarship demonstrates that many studies emphasize historical continuity between Israel and the church or focus on the narrative and missional dimensions of Paul’s ministry, yet generally fail to recognize the explicit administrative shift embedded in this text. The study concludes that Israel’s rejection and Paul’s declaration, “we turn to the Gentiles,” is not merely a missional response but an inaugural announcement that the divine mandate of the Gospel understood as God’s program has been transferred from Israel to Paul, and through Paul to the nations, as the enactment of the previously hidden oikonomia of grace. Practically, this implies that contemporary evangelism must be rooted in the Gospel of Grace entrusted to Paul, free from kingdom frameworks and Mosaic regulations, and carried out with the awareness that the church now operates within a new divine administration that no longer centers on Israel but on the Church, the Body of Christ, as a new spiritual creation.

Abstract

Moral decline and ethical crises in the digital era have become serious challenges for society, including church communities. The rapid advancement of digital technology has brought significant changes to lifestyles, patterns of interaction, and the formation of human character. On the one hand, technology offers various conveniences; on the other hand, it also gives rise to ethical issues such as individualism, hedonism, misuse of social media, cyberbullying, digital pornography, the spread of hoaxes, and the erosion of moral integrity. These conditions highlight the importance of the church’s role in providing church member development that is capable of strengthening Christian moral and ethical values in a contextual and sustainable manner. This study aims to analyze the role of church member development as a means of strengthening Christian morality and ethics amid the challenges of the digital era. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with literature study as the primary data collection technique. Data were obtained through the examination of scientific journals and various relevant literature concerning church development, Christian ethics, and moral challenges in the digital era. The findings indicate that church member development plays a strategic role in fostering spiritual maturity, strengthening moral integrity, and building Christian character based on biblical values. Effective development is carried out through discipleship, mentoring, small groups, Christian ethics education, Bible-based digital literacy, and the exemplary leadership of church leaders. Therefore, church member development not only functions to nurture the personal spirituality of congregants but also serves as a means of moral and social transformation, enabling believers to live as the light and salt of the world amid social change and the advancement of modern technology.
