Abstract

The objectives of this research are 1) To find out the group dynamics in farmer groups in Cempaka Permai Village, Gading Cempaka Sub-district, Bengkulu City, 2) To find out the agricultural extension in farmer groups in Cempaka Permai Urban-Village, Gading Cempaka Sub-district, Bengkulu City 3) To find out the existence of farmer groups in Cempaka Permai Village, Gading Cempaka Subdistrict, Bengkulu City 4) To analyse the factors that affect the existence of farmer groups in Cempaka Permai Village, Gading Cempaka Subdistrict. This research was conducted purposively in Cempaka Permai Village, Gading Cempaka Sub-district, Bengkulu City, involving 60 farmer group members as respondents. Data analysis used the descriptive qualitative analysis method, Likert scale, and Partial Least Square (PLS). The analysis results show that the dynamics of farmer groups significantly impact the existence of farmer groups. In contrast, the role of extension workers has no significant impact on the existence of farmer groups. The research findings highlight the interplay between internal group dynamics and external support in fostering farmer groups' success and continued existence. This research recommended that farmers' groups focus on internal and external government support mechanisms; the policy is needed to strengthen farmer groups, leading to improved livelihoods for individual farmers and a more robust agricultural sector.

Abstract

The rapid increase in the world's human population and the threat of a global economic crisis have also led to the threat of a food crisis, which requires action from the government to anticipate the threat of a food crisis and ensure sufficient food availability for the entire community. The food estate program is a national food development program that integrates the agriculture, plantation and livestock sectors in one area, so to implement this program the government needs to provide sufficient land. Forest areas in Central Kalimantan are one of the locations used for the Food Estate program and the land use for the program is guaranteed by Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan No. 24 Tahun 2020 about Provision of Forest Area for Food Estate Development. The results of the study found that the implementation of the program in Central Kalimantan did not run smoothly because it only planted crops according to market demand and changed local commodities that were already running in the area. In addition, the food estate program is also detrimental to indigenous peoples living in Central Kalimantan because of land conversion so that their livelihoods are reduced and even lost. This food estate program cannot meet the criteria of justice such as Rawls' theory of justice, because the program that was created to ensure the welfare of the people at large has instead caused harm to indigenous peoples living in the Central Kalimantan forest area

Mud crab is a type of crab that is very popular with seafood lovers because its meat is delicious and rich in nutrients. In the culinary business, business owners offer various dishes that rely on mud crab as the main ingredient, such as crab in sauce, crab in Padang sauce, pindang crab, crab soup, and so on. This research aims to determine the extent of consumer loyalty towards processed mud crab at the Sembam Ikan Marola Restaurant in Bengkulu City. The method used was purposive sampling with the criteria of consumers who had made purchases at least twice, and data collection was carried out through a questionnaire involving 96 respondents. Measurement analysis uses the consumer loyalty pyramid method. The results of the research show that the inverted pyramid shape means that consumer loyalty at the Sembam Fish Marola Mangrove Crab restaurant has formed strong brand equity. This type of consumer loyalty falls into the "Like the product" category with a value of 69%, which shows that consumers who buy processed mud crab are those who really like processed mud crab.

Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) production has been essential in addressing socio-economic challenges, particularly in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Honduras, Ghana, and Nigeria. For instance, oil palm production has provided food among the rural populations, creating job opportunities, generating income, hence offering potential pathway for reducing rural poverty. In Malawi, oil palm production is an old tradition practiced by the Nyakyusa people, residing in Karonga District. These people have been involved in producing crude palm oil and soap using indigenous technologies that have been handed down over decades from generation to generation. Despite these indigenes being involved in this agricultural activity, the exploration of how this activity impact their lives remain under researched. Using mixed method and sequential explanatory design, with data collected through questionnaire, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussion, the study examined the socio-economic benefits of oil palm production on rural livelihood, citing Karonga district as area of case study. The findings of the study revealed that through oil palm production, rural farmers perceive this agricultural activity as crucial in sustaining their livelihood as it provides cooking oil, creates once-off job opportunities and generate income, hence meeting basic needs. Also, though oil palm production sustains their livelihood, the study revealed problems such as availability of markets, hindering the progress of this agricultural activity. The study therefore recommends that to unlock the full potential of oil palm production, the government through the Malawi Ministry of Agriculture should help farmers to market their produce.

Abstract

Sarana Mandiri Mukti Corporation’s tea harvesting mothers are driven by the family's economic situation. Women tea harvesters (domestic work) support their families financially in addition to being housewives. Tea plucking housewives come from diverse locations near the tea estates. Harvesters' daily activities fall into four categories: productive, home, social, and rest. The purpose of this study is to assess the working hours of female tea harvesters and the factors that impact them. The descriptive technique was the primary methodology employed in this study. Multiple Linear Regression is a technique for data analysis. According to research data, tea harvesters often labor nine hours every day. Women who harvest tea can spend nine hours per day (37.5%) on productive activities, three hours on homework (12.5%), four hours on social events (16.67%), and eight hours resting (33.33%). Tea Picker Revenue (X1TPR), Number of Family Dependents (X3NFD), Age (X4AGE), Education Level (X5EDL), and employment Experience (X6EXP) all impact the length of employment of female tea harvesters. Partially Tea Picker Revenue (X1TPR), Total Family Revenue (X2TFR), Number of Family Dependents (X3NFD), Age (X4AGE), and Education Level (X5EDL), but Total Family Income (X2TFR) and Work Experience (X6EXP) have no effect on the work of female tea harvesters.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the production costs, income, and income efficiency of Zea mays L. farming in Rumpin District. The method used in this research is quantitative. Production cost expenditures were analyzed using cost analysis methods, and farming income efficiency was determined using R/C ratio analysis. The results showed that the total cost incurred was IDR 17,587,098/ha with a cash cost of IDR 7,486,439/ha and non-calculated costs of IDR 10,100,659/ha. Zea mays L. farming resulted in a positive average total income value. Income from cash costs was IDR 21.266.894/ha, and income from total costs was IDR 11.166.235/ha. The R/C ratio for cash costs was 5.17, and the R/C ratio for total costs was 2.42. This profitable Zea mays L.farming business can be continued by farmers in Rumpin District, Bogor Regency.
