Abstract

The city of Medan constitutes one of the cities that has the potential for the development of freshwater fish farming, this is because it can help the economy and income for fish farmers. However, the lack of understanding of tilapia farmers on poor water quality conditions resulted in slow fish growth. Then the lack of monitoring time carried out by fish pond cultivators makes harvest yields also not optimal due to water conditions that can change at any time due to various factors, coupled with the maintenance process also causes a decrease in production yields, one of which is when infectious or non-infectious diseases occur. The objective of this program is to find out about understanding water conditions, pH, and water levels, as well as to assist the process of monitoring tilapia pond water automatically using a smartphone. The stages carried out, begin with problem investigation, problem analysis. Then design the measuring instrument and finally do the simulation/analysis of the tool. The results of this program have succeeded in making a smartphone-based pH and water level measuring instrument with simulation results showing the water level in the fish pond with an average of 2.4 and the average pH value of fish pond water being 7.1. However, in the development of further tools, it is necessary to manufacture a signal transmitter that supports the amplification of measuring devices in sending data to smartphones.

Abstract

An induction motor that is started directly without using the starting method will draw 5 to 7 times the full load current and will only produce 1.5 to 2.5 times the full load torque. A large current will result in a voltage drop on the line so that it can interfere with other equipment connected to the line. For large-power motors, especially 3-phase induction motors, it will require a large starting current along with a large-power motor, so with motor power above 30 HP and above it is not recommended to start the motor directly without using the starting method. Some of the most commonly used starting methods are Direct on line (DOL), Star-Delta, Auto-transformer, Primary Resistance, Secondary Resistance, Inverter, and SoftStarter. Where the most widely used in the field is the DOL method, but this method still produces a large starting current. If it continues, it will shorten the life of the motor itself. This paper discusses the comparison between starting on softstarter and inverter on starting current. The results of the analysis of the starting current on the softstarter starting is 741A which is achieved in 9 seconds and the maximum torque produced by a 3-phase induction motor is 368.7 Nm. While the starting current on the inverter starting is 735A which is achieved in 13 seconds and the maximum torque produced by the 3-phase induction motor is 479.5 Nm

Abstract

Network Automation or network automation in terms is the process of automating the configuration, management, testing, deployment, and operation of physical and virtual devices in a network. Thus, in this study, we will discuss the design of an IoT-based system for handling router configurations. This IoT-based router handling system uses the Python programming language which will be used as a command source on the server as a router configuration control. This system can also remotely use a smartphone so that it can be seen whether the configuration is running or system error. With this IoT-based router handling system, it will be easier for engineers to remotely and configure routers and save time in the router configuration process.

Abstract

Puddles or floods that occur in an area are caused by a disturbed or malfunctioning drainage system. The research location was conducted in the Kutacane Morning Tax market area. The calculation of the rainfall intensity used for this study is by using the mononobe formula with the parameters for calculating the rainfall value of the Pearson III Log Distribution for a 5-year return period. The Kirpich equation determines the concentration time. From the results of the research, it turns out that the Tax channel in the Morning Tax market is not able to drain puddles of rainwater, which causes puddles in the market area, and the Disposal channel, which is a drainage channel in the market, does not function because it is clogged with sedimentation so that the Tax channel is unable to accommodate and drain high-intensity rainwater discharge. In order to avoid inundation in the morning tax area, the dimensions of the channel are redesigned, where the existing dimensions are the tax channel with dimensions h = 0.65 m, B = 0.85 m, f = 0.15 m, with Q plans (m/ sec) = 1.219 and Q capacity (m/sec) = 0.498 with a description (Does not meet) Meanwhile, the dimensions of the redesigned tax channel are h = 0.781 m, , B = 0.781 m, f = 0.5 m, with Q plans ( m/s) = 1.219 and Q capacity (m/s) = 1.219 with the information (Qualified) the total length of the tax channel is 3,612 Km. For the existing sewer h = 0.65 m, , B = 0.85 m, f = 0.15 m, with a design Q (m/s) = 1.110 and a capacity Q (m/s) = 0.498 with a description (No meet) Meanwhile, the dimensions of the redesigned drain are h = 0.832 m, , B = 832 m, f = 0.5 m, with Q plan (m/sec) = 1,110 and Q capacity (m/sec) = 1,110 with information (Qualified) total length of Exhaust channel 0.421 Km.

Abstract

The technological development of a security system really needs to be considered, especially for the security system for storing valuables and other important documents such as safes. In general, safes or safety cabinets that exist today do not have a good security system and the use of combination numbers seems impractical in accessing them because it takes a long time to find the right number. Arduino is a single board microcontroller (or more easily called a microcontroller kit) developed by arduino.cc. the nature of this arduino itself is open-source so it is free to use and distribute. The purpose and benefit of this research is the development of the era in this modernization era, microcontroller technology is expected to be able to perform a security system as the use of electronic devices to replace conventional key security systems. The components used include Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), SIM800L and Magnetic Switch Sensors.

Abstract

The majority of coastal communities currently have income/jobs are fish cultivators, of work that has a reasonably high market prospect, due to the increasing demand for domestic and non-domestic markets. The fish farming sector in Indonesia has great potential to be developed. However, the obstacles experienced in the maintenance process caused a decrease in production yields, one of which was attacks from animals looking for prey due to the condition of the ponds that lacked lighting or lighting and the cost of electricity bills which was quite burdensome for partners. This program aims to design a pico hydro Archimedes double screw turbine made of polyvinyl chloride to support lighting in aquaculture.

Abstract

Along with the increasing level of criminal data theft that occurs, a room security system is needed that good for maintaining information security of a particular agency or organization. A good security system is a security system that can be monitored and controlled remotely using the web or better known as IoT (Internet of Things). In this research, a language room security system (baggage handling system) will be designed. Kualanamu airport based on IoT using an android application, this system works using several modules including an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) module, a camera module and an entrance lock solenoid. The RFID card in this RFID module functions as a process of identifying people who want to enter the room. In addition, this RFID module also functions as a trigger for the camera to work to take pictures of people who want to enter the room. The information obtained from both modules will be sent to the Android application. Room administrators can carry out a verification process to allow or deny people who want to enter the room. The test results of this system can run well when the web speed of the access point is fast and stable, but less than ideal when the web speed of the access point is slow.

Abstract

The bridge is a construction that is useful for continuing the path through a lower obstacle. Bridges which are part of the road are indispensable in the land transportation network system that will support development in the area. The way this tool works is to initialize the input from the photodiode sensor which detects the presence or absence of a ship. If the 1st sensor detects a ship then the light will be green then if the 2nd sensor detects a ship then the light will be red and the bridge will go up. then if the 3rd sensor is green then the bridge will go down. The result of this automatic bridge tool is that the bridge will open when the ship is detected by sensor 2 and will be closed when the ship detects the 3rd sensor. Abstract

Aliran fluida dalam shell and tube heat exchanger adalah paralel atau berlawanan. Untuk membuat aliran fluida dalam shell and tube heat exchanger menjadi cross flow biasanya ditambahkan penyekat atau baffle. Aliran cross flow yang didapat dengan menambahkan baffle akan membuat luas kontak fluida dalam shell dengan dinding tube makin besar, sehingga perpindahan panas di antara kedua fluida meningkat. Selain untuk mengarahkan aliran agar menjadi cross flow,baffle juga berguna untuk menjaga supaya tube tidak melengkung (berfungsi sebagai penyangga) dan mengurangi kemungkinan adanya vibrasi atau getaran oleh aliran fluida. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menyelidiki dan mengetahui pengaruh baffle cut terhadap perpindahan panas pada alat penukar kalos selongsong dan tabung 1-1 pass dengan susunan tabung segi empat. Jenis baffle yang digunakan adalah jenis baffle segmen tunggal dengan jarak baffle 40 mm. Pengujian dilakukan dengan 4 variasi baffle cut yaitu 11%, 25,6%, 38,88%, dan 48,97%. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh koefisien perpindahan panas yang dinyatakan dengan bilangan Nusselt (Nu) yang optimum diperoleh pada baffle cut Nu = 0,000829 (Re)1,190241 (Bc/100)-0,09617 (untuk : 2100 < Re < 4000 dan Bc 11% sampai 48,97%).

Abstract

Split Mastic Asphalt (SMA) is a thin surface layer, has good resistance to grooves (rutting) and has a high durability so that the SMA is suitable for heavy surface road surfaces. The main constituent material is aggregate and asphalt, this study tried to use coconut fiber fibers with pineapple leaf fiber as added material. This study aims to determine how much the value of Marshall characteristics in asphalt mixes using coconut fiber fibers with pineapple leaf fibers as added ingredients. The results showed that the use of coconut fiber fibers with pineapple leaf fibers will affect the characteristics of the asphalt mixture. The Marshall Test data obtained obtained the highest value of stability of 874 kg, bulk density of 2.231 gr / cc, flow of 2.51 mm, void in mineral aggregate of 45.42%, Air Voids 4.89% So it can be concluded that the content pineapple leaf fiber meets Marshall Test Requirements
