Abstract

The subject matter in this paper discusses 3 basic things in using the Zoom Meeting application. 1). Zoom Meeting as an innovation presented in the context of social change, 2). Zoom Meeting application as a social symbol in the concept of interaction between students and educators, and 3). Zoom Meeting as a concept of dependency and media presence as access to new learning spaces during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses literature studies to explain the phenomenon of using the Zoom Meeting application as a new concept that is present in the social reality of educational institutions. The interpretations and explanations obtained by this study are based on e-books and journals related to the online teaching and learning process during the Covid 19 outbreak. Based on the search results through literature analysis and data interpretation, the following study results are obtained; 1). The Zoom Meeting application is an innovative concept presented as a virtual interaction service. Media as a social symbol in use has implications for dynamic societal change. The media as an educational agent places its form of presence as a process of serving human activities in terms of teaching and virtual interaction through the media that has been provided. On this day as a form of social change and the presence of Covid 19 and an effort to minimize the spread, online learning is applied as an alternative to delivering material to be provided in an effort to carry out the educational process. The concept of an innovation space that can frame distance in the Innovation Diffusion perspective places the presence of Zoom Meetings as a media space that can be widely accepted in its context as part of the learning process during the Covid 19 Pandemic. In addition to this, 3). Zoom Meeting is a symbol that presents interaction through a dialogic process when met face-to-face virtually. Furthermore, Zoom Meeting is a medium that is depended on by the community, especially for those who use it as access to information in the new space concept that is present in online learning.

Abstract

Myths about how to protect yourself from COVID-19 affected the mentality of the people of Palu City at the start of the pandemic. When the first case of COVID-19 appeared in Palu City on March 26, 2020, various myths about how to protect yourself from COVID-19 emerged. How do the myths about this pandemic quickly affect the mentality of the people of Palu City in facing the COVID-19 pandemic? The results of this study reveal that the myths surrounding COVID-19 in Palu City influence people's mentality, to do what is informed by these myths. Erroneous interpretations in the representative mode of messages in myths make the information that reaches the recipient of the message biased. This information bias is exacerbated by the rapid distribution of this message on social media. Massive exposure to social media affects society mentally, without making in-depth interpretations of the messages in the myths conveyed. It is hoped that the results of this research can serve as input for the Palu City Government to seriously educate the public regarding matters related to the COVID-19 pandemic, as input for educational institutions to conduct further research, as learning for the community, and as input for health institutions, to maximize the potential for health promotion, especially in order to combat myths around COVID-19.

Abstract

This article describes the process of modernization and harmony creation in Tanah Poso by missionaries and the colonial government involving local elites. So far Poso historiography states that the Poso area was relatively safe before the 1998 Poso conflict broke out. In fact, the Poso people in the pre-colonial period were always haunted by a fear of tribal wars and the tradition of headhunting which was the custom of the local community. The periodization of this study takes the period between 1892-1950. 1892 was the first year the missionary Albert Christiaan Kruyt arrived in Poso. At that time, he recorded war between tribes. Through an ethnographic approach and support from the Dutch East Indies government, the missionaries succeeded in 'modernizing' and creating harmony for the Poso people. This 'modernization' program also received support from Poso's local elite. This support even continued after the proclamation of Indonesian independence. Raja Poso Talasa welcomed the Netherlands Indie Civil Administration (NICA) and managed to prevent resistance against NICA in Poso. The speech by Lora Molindo, Poso's representative at the Malino Conference in 1946, also reflected the same wishes as other local elites. In 1950 colonial rule in Central Sulawesi officially ended with the dissolution of RIS.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to find out how students perceive the use of the video recitation method in increasing students' understanding of civics courses. The research method used by the author is descriptive quantitative with a survey approach which aims to provide a general description of the object under study. This research was conducted on students of the 1st semester Social Sciences tadris study program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching Sciences, UIN Datokarama Palu. The population of this study was 30 people, based on the consideration of the population, this study was classified as a sample researcher. Data collection techniques through interviews, questionnaires and documentation. This study uses qualitative descriptive analysis techniques, and the results of this study will be presented using tools such as frequency tables and percentage tables. The results showed that the provision of the video recitation method was effective in increasing understanding of the material in Citizenship courses that were previously delivered by lecturers, but in its implementation it must be supported by the provision of networks or maximum internet service providers in classrooms to be a determining factor for the successful implementation of the method.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze and explain efforts to maintain the associative intimacy of foundation administrators, teachers and the community at the Karuna Dipa Palu Foundation. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with a phenomenological approach. This research is intended to describe systematically, objectively and actual to the object under study. This research focuses on social trust and strengthening common interests in maintaining the associative closeness of foundation administrators, teachers and the community. Sources of data were obtained from informants, foundation administrators, teachers, students, parents of students and the community through observation techniques, interviews, documentation. The research results show that; (a) The associative familiarity that occurs among the board of foundations, teachers and the community at the Karuna Dipa foundation is caused by trust, social (b) Strengthening shared interests between foundation administrators, teachers and the community, encourages the creation of harmonious cooperation, good social relations dynamic or associative social interaction

Abstract

Strengthening religious values ​​as the basis for character education for the younger generation is important to do as an effort to overcome the polemic of moral degradation and identity crisis that overshadows students in the era of technological development. This study aims to describe the strengthening of religious values ​​among the younger generation in Islamic educational institutions so that they are able to become models in other educational institutions, especially in terms of developing students' character. This research is a type of qualitative research with a literature study and uses an anthropological approach to religion that focuses more on human, cultural and religious aspects. The data analysis technique in this study was started by categorizing research articles related to the research topic, then, analyzed using an anthropological approach. The results of this study indicate that efforts to strengthen religious values ​​as the basis for character education can be carried out by revitalizing institutional governance and orienting learning based on local cultural wisdom and contextual learning models.

Abstract

This study focuses on Jeneponto as a Regency in South Sulawesi Province. In the historiography of South Sulawesi, Jeneponto has not been written much, including its changes since becoming Onderaffdeling until its formation as a Regency. This change prompted the writer to examine the occurrence of these changes, especially the transition from Onderafdeeling to the current Jeneponto Regency. This study uses the historical method through four stages, namely Heuristics, Criticism, Interpretation, and Historiography. The results of this study found three things, namely: (1) the Turatea Kingdom appeared as one of the Makassar kingdoms in Jeneponto which formed a unity called the Turatea Confederation (Toeratea-anden). This confederation was formed from three karaeng-an regions, namely Binamu, Bangkala, and Laikang; (2) When Turatea was annexed by the Dutch East Indies, in 1909 the Dutch East Indies government carried out a regional arrangement. One form of arrangement is the establishment of Onderafdeeling Jeneponto; and (3) Jeneponto was formed as a Level II Region/Regency in 1959 based on Law number 29 of 1959. The issuance of the Law was based on regional conditions, both in terms of population and security. The growth and development of Jeneponto Regency is inseparable from its history, economy, politics, and socio-culture.

Abstract

The study in this pap The background of this research is the lack of students' ability in writing skills, learning to write in schools in particular does not get the dominant attention so that students' ability to write is still very low. Methodologically, teachers are generally less varied in choosing the method used. This study aims to determine the increase in understanding of class VIII students of SMP 5 Palu in writing exposition texts using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles. Each cycle goes through four stages, namely planning, implementing actions, observing and reflecting. The research subjects were students who were active and enrolled in the even semester of the 2022/2023 school year with a total of 19 students. The data collection technique used observation and concept comprehension ability tests to collect the required data and as a benchmark for students' ability to write exposition texts based on minimum completeness criteria. Data analysis techniques using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that there was an increase in conceptual understanding from cycle I to cycle II, with the proportion of completeness 58 with an average of 72 in cycle I, to 89 with an average of 84 in cycle II, as well as the application of the Problem Based Learning model can increase students' understanding in write expository text.

Abstract

This article discusses the character of young lecturers at UIN Datokarama Palu, a description of the social character of students at UIN Datokarama Palu and the role of young lecturers in shaping the social character of students at UIN Datokarama Palu. The aim of the research is to find out the character of young lecturers at UIN Datokarama Palu, a description of the social character of students at UIN Datokarama Palu and the role of young lecturers in shaping the social character of students at UIN Datokarama Palu. The research method used is qualitative research as a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people whose behavior can be observed with the data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that the characteristics of young lecturers are commitment, competence, hard work spirit, consistency, simple spirit, ability to interact, take care of themselves and respect, and become role models for students. A description of the social character of UIN Datokarama Palu students, namely honest, sportsmanship, tolerance, discipline, independence, responsibility, respect for achievement, care about cleanliness, care for health, and friendly/communicative. The role of Young Lecturers in Forming the Social Character of UIN Datokarama Palu Students is to encourage students to respect each other, cooperate between students, and instill mutual reminders and responsibility in students, exemplary, discipline, habituation, create a conducive atmosphere, so that social character is formed in students .

Abstract

Based on the existing formative results, student learning outcomes on natural appearance material are low, because the completeness of learning outcomes only reaches 30% of the 19 fourth grade students. The results of reflection and discussion with colleagues and supervisors, it is necessary to have learning that is focused on the visualization of learning material. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of Classroom Action Research in class IV SD Negeri 1 Ulu Semong with 2 cycles and one of the actions taken is to use the picture and picture learning model. Data was collected through instrument tests for learning outcomes and observation sheets to observe learning activities which were then analyzed by reducing and classifying data. At the stage of implementing more active actions it is shown, student learning activities are tinkering with the images presented. Besides that, students are also more enthusiastic about asking about the pictures given, which indicates increasing student curiosity. At the end of the second cycle, the data showed that the students' mastery had increased from 32% in the pre-cycle to 89% in the second cycle. Thus it can be interpreted that student learning outcomes of natural appearance can be improved by using picture and picture learning models.
