Abstract

This paper analyzes the implementation of Indonesian tourism nation branding through the wonderful tourism image of Indonesia as a form of state diplomacy. As a soft diplomacy effort by Indonesia, the use of wonderful Indonesia is a manifestation of Indonesia's diversity; culture, tourism, history and other religions. The use of tourism image as public diplomacy is not new in diplomatic studies, departing from traditional diplomacy, modern diplomacy tends to provide benefits for various countries in cooperation efforts. The results found are that the good image of a country can influence the opinion of foreigners towards the country, but the implementation of branding is still a challenge for the country, where the good image has not been able to have a major influence on increasing tourism, where the problem of tourism security tends to be. a big challenge for the country.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between Indonesian primary and manufactured exports to ASEAN member states and economic size and geographical distance and to explore the extent to which the standard and augmented gravity models explain these trade flows and whether the relationship differs between the two product categories. Using panel data on Indonesian exports to ASEAN members from 2013 to 2022, the results reveal a positive and significant relationship between the economic size of trade partners and Indonesian exports of primary and manufactured products, while geographical distance exhibits a negative and significant relationship. Landlocked status is negatively associated with exports of both product groups, whereas contiguity yields mixed results: positively related to primary exports but negatively attributed to manufactured goods exports. The findings corroborate the gravity model, confirming that economic size boosts Indonesian exports, while distance and landlocked status hinder trade, with contiguity benefiting primary exports but restricting manufactured goods trade. These results might pose policy implications, such that efforts to reduce transportation and logistic costs might contribute to a further increase in Indonesian exports to ASEAN members, particularly with relatively high income, such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, which are key markets in ASEAN for Indonesian exports. Moreover, Indonesia might need to improve logistics, enhance customs and trade administration efficiencies to reduce trade barriers, and improve accessibility, particularly for landlocked ASEAN members. Considering the adverse role of contiguity on manufactured product exports, Indonesia might benefit from enhanced industrial competitiveness through technological adoption, diversification into higher-technology products, and strengthening regional supply chain participation to align with ASEAN’s industrial demand structure.

Abstract

Singapore, a resource-limited city-state, boosts its competitiveness through economic policies to enhance its global competitiveness, especially in tourism and the MICE sector. However, MICE events generate significant waste, energy consumption, and pollution. Therefore, the government has refined its efforts to promote sustainability within the MICE industry. The research type is qualitative and uses evaluation research approach. Using secondary data and employing document analysis, driven by the research question, to evaluate the implementation of Singapore’s sustainable MICE initiatives and uses data from Sands Expo & Convention Centre to assess real-world application. Findings reveal that while sustainable MICE initiatives address key ESG domains to reduce resource exploitation, but challenges and gaps remain. In the environmental domain, issues like the cost of sustainable implementation and carbon emissions reduction persist. In the social domain, government efforts in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion appear promising but require follow-up actions for long-term success. In the governance domain, Singapore has a clear structure but shows a strong top-down planning pattern that covers all aspects of Singapore’s MICE and tourism policy, limiting stakeholders’ ability to act freely as decisions are directed from the top. Additionally, purpose-built venues like Sands Expo & Convention Centre easily comply with sustainability standards, while other venues must adapt to meet the governments requirements.

Abstract

In April 2025, the United States (US) imposed anti-dumping duties (ADD) and countervailing duties (CVD) on solar panel imports originating in Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam. The imposition of ADD and CVD for the four ASEAN countries is very high, reaching 271.28% for ADD and 3,403.96% for CVD. This article aims to review the imposition of these dual trade remedies instruments and map Indonesia's opportunities to become the largest solar panel exporter to the US. The descriptive analysis in this study reviews various data and information from several sources, such as reports from the United States Department of Commerce (USDOC) and the United States International Trade Commission (USITC), as well as related journals. This article also discusses efforts that Indonesia can undertake to support solar panel exports to the US. The results of the analysis indicate that Indonesia has the capacity and opportunity to become the largest solar panel exporter to the US after the four ASEAN countries that are Indonesia's main competitors are subject to ADD and CVD. However, Indonesia needs to maximize supporting factors and overcome inhibiting factors to develop the solar panel industry. This study is expected to elaborate on Indonesia's opportunities to become the largest exporter of solar panels to the US. The Indonesian government is also expected to actively monitor so that solar panel manufacturers sell their products at a reasonable price and do not receive countervailable subsidies.

Abstract

Training centers as a place to conduct training receive complaints about the implementation of training and facilities available from training participants as recipients of services and the organizers of the training center as implementers. So far, there has not been a precise complaint handling mechanism so that complaints are often not conveyed to the authorities in charge so that they appear to be handling complaints slowly or not at all. Whereas complaints are one of the inputs needed to improve an organization, BSSN Training Center certainly requires an integrated complaint handling mechanism. So, complaints are input for organizational improvement but also can be resolved appropriately and in relatively short and observable time. This research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. This method will describe the complaint handling management process in detail in handling complaints of training participants at the BSSN Training Center. Qualitative analysis techniques used interpretive techniques. Data collection techniques used triangulation techniques that combine several techniques, namely document review, interviews, and discussion results. The method of analyzing data uses the method of analyzing data flow models. The study obtained results in the form of a description of the Complaints Handling Management Process in Handling Complaints of Participants in the BSSN Training Center which utilizes online platforms ranging from delivery to complaint report management. Abstract

The implementation of mandatory regulations of tin export through commodity multi-exchange has been considered effective in suppressing illegal tin trading practices, building transparency in transaction and export record, and creating added value for tin export. However, the essence of a multi-exchange policy should also promote the increasing in value and volume of tin transactions. This analysis aims to see the difference in the value and volume of tin transactions before and after the multi-exchange policy. By using the Paired Sample t-test, there are shown significant differences in value and volume of tin transactions whereby the value and volume transacted after the multi-exchange policy is relatively lower. The decrease in transaction value will affect the state tin royalty revenue. Interestingly, the decline in transaction value is driven by the high disparity between the value and volume of transactions between the two exchanges. Therefore, trade policies that support the consolidation of the tin market are urgently needed to optimize state royalty revenues.
