Abstract

The growth of urbanization in Indonesia has led to a significant increase in waste generation, including e-waste, which has a negative impact on the environment if not managed properly. Independent cities, as integrated areas with modern infrastructure, have the strategic potential to become hubs for e-waste collection. However, his involvement is still minimally studied. This study aims to identify and analyze the driving and inhibiting factors of independent city involvement in e-waste collection, as well as determine the cause-and-effect relationship and priority of each factor using the Content Validity Index (CVI), Modified Kappa, DEMATEL, and Analytic Network Process (ANP) methods. The results of the analysis showed that, among the driving factors, the Population dimension (HD) had the highest level of interconnectedness, while the Government dimension (GD) exhibited the greatest net influence. On the other hand, in the inhibiting factor, the Developer (DB) dimension has the highest level of relevance, while the Collector (CB) dimension has the greatest net influence, with the Government (GB) dimension also showing significant linkage and net influence values. In terms of weight, the primary driving factors were public acceptance of the collection program (0.094), the level of environmental knowledge (0.082), and government supervision (0.082). Meanwhile, the main inhibiting factors include the population's lack of waste sorting (0.087), tax policies that do not support collectors (0.084), and the absence of government collection standards (0.082).

Abstract

This study evaluates the financial health and bankruptcy risk of seven major Indian renewable energy firms from 2014 to 2023 using the Altman Z-score model, specifically its version adapted for emerging markets. As India targets 450 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, understanding the financial resilience of key industry players is essential to guide investment strategies and policy decisions. The selected firms, Tata Power Renewable Energy, Adani Green Energy, Suzlon Energy, Inox Wind, NHPC, SJVN, and Reliance Power, represent a mix of ownership structures and operate across solar, wind, and hydro sectors. A quantitative approach was applied using publicly available financial data, incorporating key ratios such as working capital, retained earnings, EBIT, and market value of equity. The results reveal variation in financial performance: Adani Green consistently remained in the green zone after 2020, reflecting strong investor confidence and low insolvency risk, while NHPC and Reliance Power stayed in the distress zone throughout, suggesting persistent financial weakness. Suzlon Energy showed volatility but signs of recovery by 2023, whereas Inox Wind moved from stability to distress after 2017. These findings support the use of the Z-score as a financial early-warning tool in capital-intensive sectors. However, the model’s limitations are evident in its inability to fully capture industry-specific challenges like delayed subsidies, regulatory uncertainty, and long asset payback periods. The study recommends integrating financial ratios with sector-specific and qualitative indicators. It contributes to the literature by applying the Z-score in India’s renewable energy context and offers practical insights for investors and policymakers.

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between logistics integration, third-party logistics (3PL) competence, and organisational performance in Ghana's cocoa industry, using the Relational View (RV) and Dynamic Capability Theory (DCT) as theoretical frameworks. It investigates how inter-firm relationships and adaptive capabilities influence logistics outcomes. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected from 989 respondents across Licensed Buying Companies, haulage providers, and warehousing firms. Analysis using descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modelling (SEM) revealed significant positive relationships between internal and external logistics integration factors—such as information sharing and IT capabilities—and 3PL competence. Internal and external IT capabilities had the strongest impacts, while transportation sharing showed no significant relationship. Warehousing and distribution sharing positively influenced 3PL competence. The study concludes that logistics integration, supported by competent 3PL providers, enhances organisational performance by improving supply chain efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing customer satisfaction. The integration of RV and DCT provides a comprehensive understanding of how relational mechanisms and dynamic capabilities drive superior logistics outcomes. Future research should explore sector-specific variations, emerging technologies, and long-term impacts of logistics integration in diverse contexts. This study contributes to supply chain management literature by offering insights into logistics integration and 3PL competence, benefiting both researchers and practitioners.

Abstract

Colombia is seeking to transition to alternative energy and move towards a sustainable future. The purpose of this study was to analyze Colombia's energy management from 1993 to 2023, with the goal of establishing projection scenarios for 2030. To achieve this objective, we reviewed energy data from institutional databases at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, conducted a hemerographic analysis, and applied inferential statistics through linear regression to examine the behavior of the analyzed period. The method used is Case study, Scale and periodicity of analysis 1993-2023. Over the past three decades, comprehensive infrastructure has been developed to increase energy levels and electricity capacity for alternative energy production throughout the country. Our findings suggest that Colombia's energy sector may stabilize by 2030, but environmental pressures such as climate change, deforestation, and other factors could negatively impact the country's energy matrix. The design and implementation of Colombia's energy transition policy have faced obstacles. Ultimately, it is essential to advance towards a sustainable energy transition in Colombia, considering environmental challenges and transforming the energy matrix towards renewable energies.

Abstract

Human Resources (HR) is a key asset in driving organizational success across sectors. Improving HR quality is essential for enhancing employee performance, which reflects an individual’s ability to meet work targets effectively and sustainably through competence, responsibility, adaptability, and contributions to organizational goals. This study aims to examine the influence of work motivation and work discipline on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable in the People’s Welfare (Kesra) Section of the Manokwari Regency Regional Secretariat. The research involved 32 honorary employees, using a saturated sampling method. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results show that work motivation positively and significantly affects both job satisfaction and employee performance. Work discipline positively affects performance, though the effect is not significant, while it significantly affects job satisfaction. Job satisfaction significantly impacts employee performance and partially mediates the relationship between work motivation and performance, but not between work discipline and performance. To enhance performance in the Kesra Section, efforts should focus on boosting motivation and discipline through recognition programs, training, and consistent rule enforcement. Additionally, fostering a supportive work environment is crucial, given job satisfaction’s mediating role in improving performance outcomes. These strategies can lead to sustainable improvements in employee performance
