Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of work discipline and work motivation on the performance of educational staff, with organizational commitment as a mediating variable, in educational staff at the Faculty of Law, Brawijaya University, Malang. The approach used is quantitative with a survey and explanatory design. The entire population consisting of 46 people were used as respondents through a census technique. Primary data were collected using a Likert-scale-based questionnaire and analyzed using path analysis using SPSS version 26. The results show that work discipline and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on performance, both directly and indirectly through organizational commitment as a mediating variable. This means that increasing work discipline and motivation not only has a direct impact on improving performance but can also strengthen performance through increasing organizational commitment. These findings emphasize the importance of building a work culture that supports discipline and motivation, as well as strengthening organizational commitment as a foundation for improving educational staff performance. Therefore, policies and leadership are needed that are able to encourage the development of these three aspects in an integrated manner to achieve sustainable work effectiveness in the higher education environment.

Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDGs 1 (No Poverty) and SDGs 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The purpose of this study is to provide recommendations for company management in supporting poverty alleviation and the provision of decent work and economic growth through job creation and collaboration with local governments. The approach used is descriptive analysis with a literature study method at PT Bank Jawa Barat from 2022-2024 in West Java Province. The results of the study indicate that PT Bank Jawa Barat has consistently implemented SDGs 1 and SDGs 8. The limitation of this study lies in the scope of the research, which only covers West Java Province. The implications of this study indicate that Bank BJB's contribution to achieving the SDGs has the potential to increase public, investor, and government trust and encourage sustainable regional development.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which the performance of the Sikka District Health Office is achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of Reducing Maternal and Child Mortality Rates, and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors in providing maternal and child health services. The method used is qualitative, where the research is descriptive. The collection technique used is interviews with informants who have the potential to provide information related to the research, as well as observation and documentation methods. The results show an increase in the performance of the health office in several indicators, although some are not yet optimal. There are several main obstacles faced, such as the distribution of health workers, access to remote areas, and limited public understanding of the importance of maternal and child health services. The infrastructure for complaint services is still not optimal. Meanwhile, the form of internal and external accountability at the Sikka District Health Office has been running well, such as the services provided, especially in each Community Health Center covered by the Sikka District Health Office, are in accordance with the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and monthly monitoring and evaluation of performance achievements. Then, the preparation of activity reports is carried out monthly and annually.

Abstract

This study explores the role of rural women in sericulture, focusing on their involvement and challenges in the Tussar silk industry in Bihar, India. With a focus on four districts, Purnia, Katihar, Banka, and Bhagalpur, the study surveyed 120 women, 30 from each district, engaged in sericulture. Women constitute 60% of the workforce in sericulture, which contributes 28.41% of household income, making it a critical livelihood source in India. Their involvement is concentrated in activities close to home, as they face challenges in tasks requiring external mobility. Many women entrepreneurs in this sector have limited education, and there is a need for government and sericulture departments to collaborate on targeted training and development programs. These initiatives aim to uplift the socioeconomic conditions of rural women and enhance their participation in sericulture for economic empowerment.

Abstract

The study focuses attention on orientation of buildings as a significant design consideration due to its influence to improve the indoor thermal comfort. The aim of the study is to comparatively analysis the effect of building orientation on indoor thermal condition of buildings in the study area. To achieve the aim of the study, a field survey was carried out in five neighbourhoods using 550 administered questionnaires. Secondly, buildings relatively oriented longitudinally in the East-West and buildings oriented longitudinally in the North-south direction were identified for comparison in their indoor thermal condition. Thirdly, the indoor thermal condition of buildings in relation to building orientation in the study area are measured. Data obtained was analysed with the aid of analyses of variant to determine the influence of building orientation on indoor thermal condition of buildings. The result shows no significant relationship between building orientation and indoor thermal condition among the buildings assessed as the p-value equals 0.792. This result contrast most related research works, being that, most buildings were built with foreign building materials with one window in their functional spaces. No adequate building’s setbacks, high wall fence, and most buildings occupied more than 50% of the total plot size, which may have resulted in the distortion of air circulation around such buildings and increase in air temperature. The study therefore recommends a strict monitory of physical developments by relevant agency and proposed development must incorporate passive design strategies that works with the local climate to maintain a comfortable temperature indoors.

Abstract

The upstream oil and gas industry is inherently associated with a high level of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) risks, in which two critical determinants of effective risk management are safety culture and its maturity level. Safety culture encompasses the values, attitudes, and behaviors demonstrated by an organization toward safety, whereas safety culture maturity reflects the extent to which such values are systematically institutionalized and sustained. The novelty of this study lies in highlighting the importance of developing safety culture beyond formal implementation, with particular emphasis on advancing maturity toward proactive and generative levels. Accordingly, this research aims to examine the influence of safety culture implementation and safety culture maturity on safety performance at Citic Seram Energy Limited. Employing a quantitative design, data were collected through a purposive sample of 80 respondents using a Likert-scale questionnaire and subsequently analyzed with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS. The empirical results demonstrate that safety culture exerts a positive and statistically significant effect on safety performance (β = 0.45; p < 0.001), while safety culture maturity also exhibits a positive and significant effect (β= 0.38; p < 0.01). Collectively, these variables account for 62% of the variance in safety performance. In conclusion, the findings underscore that strengthening safety culture and enhancing its maturity are essential strategies for significantly improving safety performance within the upstream oil and gas sector.

Abstract

Nickel mining activities in the North Morowali area cause changes in the surface structure of the land and increase the risk of erosion, especially around the settling pond area. The erosion that occurs affects the shallowing of the pond, reduces its sediment storage capacity, and creates a potential for turbid water runoff to overflow into the surrounding environment. This study aims to predict the erosion rate and classify the level of erosion hazard (TBE) using the Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation (MUSLE) method which is more representative of mining conditions with extreme rainfall and dynamic morphology. Data collection was conducted through literature studies, field observations, and the processing of primary and secondary data, including rainfall, soil type, topography, and land use. Data analysis was carried out using ArcGIS 10.8 software for mapping rain catchment areas, slope gradients, and soil classification. The calculation results show that the annual sedimentation rate reaches 7256.073 m³/year, with a sedimentation rate of 62.806 tons/ha/year, and is included in the class III category (moderate erosion). Conservation recommendations are directed at a combination of vegetative methods, such as planting cover crops and local vegetation, and mechanical methods such as terracing and drainage channels according to slope contours.
