Abstract

Publication of Islamic education in international journals has its own dynamics. Its intensity depends on research trends and socio-cultural contexts. This study aims to examine the extent to which the intensity of publication of Islamic education in international journals indexed by Scopus Q1. The primary data sources in this study were international journals published in the IJIMS journal from 2011-2023 and QIJIS published from 2013-2023. The data was searched through the Moraref website of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The data was reviewed using content analysis. Content analysis is a scientific analysis of the message content of a communication. Simply put, the main points of content analysis include: grouping symbols used in communication, using criteria as a basis for grouping, and using certain analytical techniques as estimates. There are three requirements in content analysis: objectivity, a systematic approach, and generalization. The research results show that the intensity of publication of Islamic education themes in IJIMS indexed by Scopus Q1, with the number of publications from 2011 to 2023 amounting to 20 Islamic education journals. The annual average is 1.53. Meanwhile, QIJIS has 36 journals from 2023 to 2024, with an annual average of 3.6. The difference in publication intensity on Islamic education topics in Scopus-indexed international journals is due to the journal management orientation and socio-cultural orientation held by each journal manager.

Abstract

The digital disruption era demands madrasah leadership capable of aligning technological transformation with Islamic values as institutional identity. This study aims to: (1) analyze the limitations of the what works approach in madrasah contexts amid digital disruption, (2) explore the potential of Quranic wisdom for developing adaptive and contextual sense-making leadership, and (3) formulate the integrative HSA2S leadership model (Hikmah, Syura, Amanah, Adil, and Sabr). The research employs interpretive qualitative library research; data were drawn from Quranic verses, thematic exegesis, and indexed journal literature (2019–2025). Analysis comprised thematic content analysis, hermeneutics, and theoretical synthesis. Findings indicate that the what works approach tends toward universalism, neglects the spiritual-cultural context of madrasah, and often produces standardized solutions that misalign with field realities. Conversely, the what makes sense paradigm grounded in Quranic wisdom is more appropriate as a basis for adaptive leadership. The study develops the HSA2S model, integrating Quranic wisdom with sense-making leadership principles and operationalizing it through four dimensions: spiritual, intellectual, social, and digital. Theoretically, the model enriches Islamic educational leadership scholarship; practically, it provides madrasah principals with an operational framework for sustainable, inclusive, and Islamically characterized digital transformation.  Keywords: madrasah leadership, what makes sense, Quranic wisdom, digital transformation, sense-making leadership

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of Quranic reading skills as a core competency and graduation standard for Integrated Islamic Schools (SKL JSIT) in Integrated Islamic-based schools; however, a gap in abilities among students was identified, where 60% of students were not yet able to read the Quran with tartil (measured recitation) and proper tajwid (rules of recitation). This study aims to determine the implementation of Intensive Tahsin Al-Quran Guidance in improving Quranic reading skills at SDIT Baitul Muslim, East Lampung. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) utilizing the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection was carried out through observations of learning activities, periodic oral tests of Quranic reading skills, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study were 25 students from the 3rd-grade Fatimah Az-Zahra class at SDIT Baitul Muslim. Data analysis was conducted using both descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed that intensive tahsin Al-Quran guidance can be applied through the talaqqi and musyafahah methods (face-to-face and direct imitation), using small groups where one teacher guides 5–7 students. In the pre-cycle, only 40% of students could read the Quran with tartil and proper tajwid. In the first cycle, this increased to 68%. In the second cycle, it rose to 92%. Common errors such as reading fluency, makhraj (articulation points), ignorance of tajwid rules, and adab (etiquette) in reading the Quran were successfully minimized. In conclusion, structured and small-group intensive tahsin Al-Quran guidance is effective in correcting and improving the quality of Quranic recitation at SDIT Baitul Muslim, East Lampung. Keywords: Intensive Guidance, Quranic Reading Skills, Classroom Action Research.
