Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve teacher competency in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in creating learning content at SMP Negeri 1 Peureulak. Based on initial observations of 25 teachers, only 20% of teachers have ever used AI-based applications in learning, while the majority still use conventional media and are not yet able to produce AI-based learning content independently. The method used was a workshop with a theoretical and practical approach, including lectures, discussions, simulations, case studies, and independent practice. The workshop utilized several AI applications, namely ChatGPT for compiling teaching materials and evaluation questions, Canva AI for creating visual learning media, and Gamma AI for developing learning presentations. The results of the activity showed an increase in participant competency as indicated by an increase in the average score from 54.00 in the pre-test to 81.43 in the post-test with a percentage increase of 50.80%. In addition, as many as 72% of participants were able to produce AI-based learning content with a good category. The participant responses also showed a high level of satisfaction and participation throughout the activity. Thus, this workshop contributed to improving teachers' competency in utilizing AI for learning content development and has the potential to be replicated in broader contexts. Participants produced AI-assisted teaching materials, learning presentation slides, evaluation questions, and visual learning media.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve students’ managerial skills through mentoring in sustainable waste bank management at SMP Negeri 1 Peureulak. The program involved 34 students who initially had limited understanding of organizational management and simple administration in waste handling. The methods included socialization, structured training, hands-on practice, and continuous mentoring using a participatory approach. The implementation stages consisted of needs assessment, basic management training, operational practice of waste bank activities, and monitoring and evaluation. The results showed an improvement in students’ managerial skills, as indicated by an increase in the average score from 64 to 88, equivalent to 24 points or 37.5% compared with the initial score. In addition, 29 of 34 students, or 85.3%, met the criteria for independent performance by completing at least four of five practical indicators without direct assistance from the mentoring team. These indicators included waste sorting, waste classification, transaction recording, task implementation according to assigned roles, and preparation of simple reports. The findings indicate improvement not only in students’ understanding but also in their practical competencies through experiential learning. The program also contributed to the establishment of a more structured waste management system at the school. Therefore, continuous mentoring combined with practice-based learning showed positive results in strengthening students’ managerial skills and environmental responsibility.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen teachers’ capacity to manage AI-supported mathematics instruction through a modern educational administration approach. The program was conducted at SMPS Darul Ulum Tanoh Mirah and involved 18 teachers. It addressed teachers’ limited competence in integrating Artificial Intelligence into instructional planning, assessment, learning-media development, and administrative tasks. The activities comprised needs assessment, training, mentoring, hands-on practice, and evaluation through lectures, discussions, simulations, pre-tests, post-tests, Likert-scale questionnaires, and classroom implementation observations. The teachers were trained to use ChatGPT to develop teaching materials and lesson plans, AI-assisted digital quiz platforms to conduct assessments, and AI-supported design applications to create learning media. The results showed that the participants’ mean score increased from 65.3 on the pre-test to 84.7 on the post-test, representing an improvement of 19.4 points or 29.7%. The questionnaire results also indicated very high participant ratings, with the usefulness of the program and participant satisfaction each receiving a mean score of 4.6 out of 5. In addition, the teachers demonstrated improved ability to design technology-supported instructional materials, conduct digital assessments, and use student learning data for basic instructional decision-making. These findings indicate that structured AI training and mentoring can effectively enhance teachers’ professional competence and support more efficient, data-informed mathematics learning management.

Abstract

The Millennial Livestock Farmer Group (KATEME) continues to practice traditional livestock management, with feeding strategies that fail to meet the nutritional requirements of cattle and goats in terms of both quality and quantity, resulting in low productivity and poor reproductive performance. Although leguminous forages are abundant during the rainy season, their availability is highly seasonal, highlighting the need for forage processing and preservation technologies to ensure a sustainable supply of high-quality feed throughout the year. This community service activity aimed to improve farmers’ knowledge and skills through training on the production of green pellet concentrate for the Millennial Livestock Farmer Group (KATEME) in Lalampanua Village, Majene Regency. The main problem faced by the partners was the limited use of feed technology and dependence on fresh forage. The method included needs assessment, counseling, demonstration, hands-on practice in pellet production, as well as monitoring and evaluation using pre-test and post-test. The results showed an increase in participants’ understanding from an average of 33% to 68%, along with improved practical skills in pellet production. This technology enables the utilization of local feed resources into more durable and nutritionally balanced feed, helping maintain feed availability, especially during the dry season. Therefore, green pellet concentrate training serves as an innovative solution for more efficient and sustainable livestock feed management.

Abstract

The high dependence on commercial chemical fertilizers (AB Mix) in hydroponic cultivation has become a major challenge for the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) group in Sukamakmur Village, Ciomas District, Bogor Regency, resulting in high production costs. At the same time, the area generates abundant household organic waste that remains underutilized. This Community Service (PkM) program at the Open University aims to provide technical assistance and technology transfer in waste decomposition to reduce agricultural input costs while increasing the productivity of hydroponic vegetables in a independent and sustainable way. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of three stages: preparation, including coordination with the PKK group, household waste assessment, training material development, and procurement of equipment and materials; implementation, involving hands-on training on controlled anaerobic Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) production and composting for leachate extraction; and evaluation through observations of participants' ability to apply the acquired knowledge, pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and participant satisfaction surveys. The program significantly improved participants' capacity and farming efficiency. Average cognitive scores increased by 13.26% for POC production and 18.92% for composting techniques. Participants reported very high satisfaction, and the PKK group successfully produced high-quality organic fertilizers independently, providing a chemical residue-free nutrient alternative for hydroponic vegetables while reducing household organic waste generation.
