Abstract

Public speaking skills in the context of khitobah are essential for students to support educational and da’wah activities. Students of MA Al-Muayyad Surakarta possess good potential due to their religious knowledge. However, challenges remain, including limited understanding of khitobah techniques, lack of confidence, and anxiety, compounded by the absence of regular practice. This community service program aims to provide reinforcement of students’ public speaking skills through khitobah training. The program involved problem sidentification, training, and evaluation using a service learning approach that integrates material delivery and direct practice. The achievement of the training program was evaluated through questionnaires and interviews to obtain an overview of participants’ responses and perceptions. The results indicate positive responses, with 84.2% of participants feeling assisted in understanding concepts and techniques, 79.9% reporting greater confidence, and 84.8% feeling more capable of managing nervousness. Interviews also suggest perceived benefits in self-confidence and readiness to perform. Overall, the training contributes positively to students’ readiness to engage in public speaking activities in both school and community contexts.

Abstract

The main achievement indicator of this community service program is the creation of a functional ice cream product from locally grown mustard greens. This local vegetable was chosen because it is readily available as a result of cultivation by residents at the “Healthy Food Corner” in the Baluwarti neighborhood, a special area dedicated to food crop cultivation. The community service was carried out at the Keraton Kasunanan hall, Baluwarti Village, Pasar Kliwon District, Surakarta City, through lectures and discussions on the potential of the main raw material (mustard greens), ice cream making practices, and sensory evaluation of the product. The activity received positive responses from 30 participants with the creation of new products that were not yet available on the market and were liked by the participants based on acceptance level tests. The post-test results also showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills regarding raw materials and food product innovation, which was 59.28%. Participants were actively involved from raw material preparation, processing, to sensory evaluation of ice cream. Over 90% of participants expressed satisfaction, and the activity had a positive impact on the utilization of local vegetables. The product innovations resulting from this initiative represent a concrete step toward utilizing local resources, increasing the economic value of mustard greens, and creating opportunities for the UMKM and the creative economy among the community.

Abstract

The shift in community consumption patterns toward fast food has led to a decline in the utilization of nutritious local foods. This community service activity aims to provide nutrition education based on a cultural festival to improve nutritional knowledge and increase public interest in consuming healthy local foods in Karang Asam Village, Muara Enim Regency. Academically, this activity contributes to the development of a community service method based on community-based participatory research (CBPR) that integrates aspects of health, culture, and community participation. The method employed a participatory approach with a cultural strategy through the annual Karang Asam Festival (KAF). The intervention was implemented through a Nutrition Education Zone and a Healthy Local Food Innovation Competition involving junior high school students. The evaluation was conducted using a pre-test and post-test design. The results indicate an increase in public interest in consuming healthy local foods, as well as greater awareness of the importance of preserving local food culture. These findings suggest that cultural festivals can serve as an effective medium for nutrition education.

Abstract

Kindergarten is an important developmental stage where children learn through play. TKI As Salaam, located in Tapos, Depok, West Java, has 47 students and implements an Islamic-based and child development-oriented learning approach, and has agreed to become a community service partner. The main problem faced by the partner is the limited ability of teachers to introduce science concepts to kindergarten students, both in developing instructional media and in applying appropriate teaching methods. To address this issue, the community service team from Universitas Indraprasta PGRI (Unindra) provided solutions through training, simulation, and mentoring activities focused on developing science teaching aids using plastic bottle waste. The program also included direct science learning activities for students. The results showed a significant improvement in teachers’ competencies, as indicated by an increase in the average pre-test and post-test scores from 73 to 93. Teachers’ responses were highly positive, with scores above 80%. Students also showed very positive responses, with average scores in learning enjoyment (4.86), learning motivation (4.67), clarity of material (4.18), science understanding (4.34), self-confidence (4.77), and expectation for program sustainability (4.80). This program also improved teachers’ skills in creating science teaching aids, particularly water rockets made from recycled plastic bottles. The sustainability of the program is ensured through monitoring and evaluation conducted for up to three months after implementation.

Abstract

Climate change is a global issue and challenge that may have impacts in the future, thus requiring the strengthening of environmental literacy and awareness, particularly among the younger generation. This community service activity was aimed at new students of the Faculty of Forestry, Tadulako University, as educational partners in fostering an understanding of global climate change mitigation. The activity aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge, awareness, and commitment to the importance of climate change mitigation actions. The intervention was carried out through a public lecture featuring a speaker from the Green Institute, which included material presentation, interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and reinforcement of sustainability values and the role of forests in climate change mitigation. This activity represents a form of community service intervention as it is oriented toward knowledge transfer, strengthening participants’ initial capacity, and fostering environmentally responsible attitudes. Post-activity evaluation was conducted using a descriptive quantitative approach through questionnaires. The evaluation results indicate that the public lecture, as an educational intervention in community service activities, had a positive initial impact on the target participants, with approximately 90% improvement in the knowledge dimension and 91% in the behavioral dimension. These findings suggest that public lectures contribute to strengthening climate literacy and fostering sustainable behavior within the university environment. This model can be replicated as an initial development approach for new students toward achieving a sustainable campus.

Abstract

Papaya is a widely available horticultural commodity in Nuaone Village, Detusoko District, Ende Regency; however, its utilization remains suboptimal and its market value is relatively low. This community service activity aims to enhance community knowledge and skills in processing unripe papaya into papaya sticks as a value-added product based on local potential. The program was implemented through socialization, training, and hands-on practice using a participatory approach, including material presentation, discussions, and assistance in production and packaging processes. The results show an increase in community understanding of local resource utilization, food processing techniques, and the importance of packaging to improve product competitiveness. Participants were able to follow all stages of production, from raw material preparation to packaging, and successfully produced papaya sticks suitable for consumption and potential commercialization as home-based products. Economically, processing papaya into papaya sticks offers higher profit opportunities compared to selling fresh papaya. The abundance of raw materials, simple production process, and relatively low capital requirements make this business accessible to the community. The product also has higher selling value, providing additional household income if produced consistently and marketed with attractive packaging. Overall, this activity positively impacts community knowledge and skills while opening opportunities for developing a local-based creative economy. Papaya stick production has strong potential as an alternative business to support community independence and improve rural welfare.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the entrepreneurial competencies of students at SMK Pawyatan Daha 2 Kediri City through training in business plan development based on marketing strategies. The main problem faced by partners is students' limited understanding of how to develop comprehensive business plan components, such as market analysis, and their lack of ability to utilize information technology for digital marketing. The scope of the program includes identifying problems in business management and product marketing, developing structured business plans, and implementing digital marketing strategies using information technology. The methods employed consist of interactive training sessions, simulations, group discussions, mentoring, and business pitch presentations. Data were collected through preliminary observations, discussions with school representatives, and evaluation of students’ business plan documents as well as their digital marketing practices. The results indicate that more than 80% of participants understood the stages of business plan preparation, and approximately 70% were able to produce complete and presentation-ready business plan documents. Furthermore, over 80% of students successfully created digital promotional accounts and uploaded marketing content via social media platforms. The implementation of science and technology tools such as the Business Model Canvas (BMC), Canva, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) contributed to improved creativity, business planning effectiveness, and branding and product promotion skills. In conclusion, business plan training based on marketing strategies effectively fosters an entrepreneurial mindset, strengthens managerial and marketing skills, and prepares students to become independent and competitive young entrepreneurs.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a crucial period that requires ongoing health monitoring. The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Health, has developed the SATU SEHAT app as an integrated digital platform to support health services, including maternal and child health. However, uptake of this app at the community level remains low due to limited digital literacy. This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of pregnant women in using the SATU SEHAT app as a tool for monitoring pregnancy health. The methods employed include outreach, education, and direct support for pregnant women in Banjar Kemuning, Sidoarjo Regency. The results of the activity and evaluation indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding across all indicators (knowledge, attitudes and skills) regarding the importance of maternal health, with an increase of 45.10%. There was also a 48.35% improvement in the use of basic features of the SATU SEHAT app. It is hoped that this activity will support improvements in the health status of pregnant women and the optimisation of digital health service utilisation.
