Abstract

Limited access to licensed statistical software is one of the obstacles in strengthening data analysis competencies at the Makassar Ujung Pandang Education Foundation (YPUP) College of Teacher Training and Education (STKIP). The introduction of free and open-source statistical software such as Jeffreys's Amazing Statistics Program (JASP) has encouraged the implementation of this service activity. The activity aims to increase literacy and readiness to use legal and easily accessible alternative statistical software. The workshop was held online on July 11–12, 2025 with a participatory training approach that included presentation of educational research design, demonstration of the use of JASP, as well as descriptive, parametric, and non-parametric statistical analysis practices. There were 37 participants including lecturers and students, with 33 participants filling out the evaluation instruments. The evaluation was carried out descriptively through a self-assessment questionnaire to measure the level of understanding of participants after the training. The results showed that 32.73% of participants strongly agreed and 67.27% agreed that they had understood the use of JASP. These findings indicate an increase in initial literacy and readiness for the adoption of open-source-based statistical software. Although the objective measurement of the improvement of analytical skills through pre-test and post-test has not been carried out, this activity opens opportunities for the integration of JASP in learning and research and becomes the basis for planning further assistance as a form of program sustainability.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen community capacity in Prabu Tourism Village through the EDUKARSA (Education and Creation for the Community) program, which integrates four key capacity-building components: culinary presentation, homestay room preparation, tour package development, and photography and videography for digital content creation. The program was implemented using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving 40 participants from June to October 2025 through stages of planning, implementation, evaluation, and sustainability. Program effectiveness was evaluated using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale, analyzed descriptively using statistical procedures commonly applied in SPSS. The results show that the overall mean score of participants’ competency improvement reached 4.42 (SD = 0.51), indicating a high level of perceived effectiveness. Reliability testing demonstrated strong internal consistency, with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.91, confirming that the evaluation instrument was highly reliable. Improvements were most notable in culinary presentation (mean = 4.55), homestay management (mean = 4.48), tour package design (mean = 4.36), and digital content production (mean = 4.29). Despite these positive outcomes, several challenges remain, particularly in standardizing homestay facilities, determining competitive tour package pricing, and strengthening community-based documentation teams. Overall, the EDUKARSA program significantly contributed to enhancing human resource capacity and reinforcing Prabu Village as a sustainable, community-based tourism destination supported by quality services and effective digital promotion.

Abstract

Competency in evaluation research methodology remains limited among Indonesian education practitioners, yet its documentation through national webinars has received insufficient attention in the literature. This article aims to report the implementation and evaluate the outcomes of a national webinar titled “Evaluation Research Methodology: Between Paradigms, Approaches, Methods, and Implementation” as a community service activity using a descriptive evaluative approach. Participant data from an electronic registration form were analyzed using descriptive statistics. A total of 898 participants from 35 provinces joined via Zoom and YouTube Live, comprising predominantly students (64.48%), lecturers (16.48%), and teachers (15.26%), mostly from higher education institutions (62.25%) and Education/Teacher Training disciplines (42.87%). The webinar successfully enhanced participants’ conceptual understanding of evaluation research paradigms, quantitative-qualitative-mixed approaches, key evaluation models (CIPP, Kirkpatrick, Goal-Oriented), and systematic research stages, demonstrating the efficacy of webinars in reaching a national audience for professional capacity building. These findings underscore the need for sustainable development programs, communities of practice, and integration of evaluation research methodology into higher education curricula, thereby contributing to SDG 4 on quality education.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen digital mindsets and encourage business transformation in the Society 5.0 era for local business owners and student entrepreneurs in Palu City. The activity was designed as a participatory workshop that integrated the presentation of the Society 5.0 concept (a super-intelligent society that places humans at the center of technology-based innovation) and digital mindset (an adaptive way of thinking that utilizes digital technology as part of a long-term business strategy) with hands-on practice using digital applications for marketing and business management. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests, satisfaction questionnaires, and observations of 50 participants. The results showed an increase in the average score of understanding digital mindsets from 68,20 to 85,40, with 85% of participants stating that the activity was very beneficial and 75% stating that they were ready to implement business digitalization strategies. Student entrepreneur participants showed faster adaptation to digital applications compared to senior business owners, who still needed further mentoring. These findings indicate that strengthening digital mindsets combined with practical training has the potential to effectively encourage gradual digital-based business transformation and increase entrepreneurial competitiveness in Palu City in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to improve the digital capacity and competitiveness of the Kerang Indah Parepare MSME, which processes sea shell waste into economically valuable crafts based on Circular Economy principles. Initial analysis indicated that the partners' main problems included limited product innovation, the lack of structured business records, and low utilization of digital marketing. To address these issues, the team conducted Business Model Canvas training, optimized Google My Business, utilized WhatsApp Business and Facebook Ads, and implemented the C-Commerce application as a digital catalog and record-keeping platform. The implementation method included socialization, pre- and post-tests, training, hands-on practice, and mentoring for one month to ensure the sustainability of the material implementation. Evaluation used a 1–5 scoring scale (1 = very low, 5 = very high). The results of the activity showed a significant increase in competency, marked by an increase in the average score from 3.1 to 4.4, an increase of 1.3 points (41.9%). In addition, there was an increase in business performance with an increase in sales transactions from 11 transactions in August to 27 transactions in September after the digital marketing strategy was consistently implemented. This program has resulted in improved digital literacy, managerial skills, and expanded partner market reach. Furthermore, it also strengthens circular economy practices by utilizing shellfish waste into value-added products and provides contextual learning experiences for students in mentoring technology-based MSMEs.

Abstract

Youth empowerment through entrepreneurship is a strategic approach to strengthening rural economic independence and resilience. However, limited entrepreneurial capacity, restricted access to resources, and weak integration between local values and business ethics remain key challenges in rural areas. This community service program aimed to empower youth in Hoelea Village, Omesuri District, Lembata Regency, through entrepreneurship development integrating local wisdom and Maqasid Shariah values. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving 15 village youth aged 17–30 years through stages of problem and potential identification, participatory planning, entrepreneurship training, business mentoring, and participatory monitoring and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, focus group discussions, and questionnaires to assess changes in entrepreneurial understanding and motivation. The results indicate improved entrepreneurial readiness among participants, reflected in increased knowledge, motivation, and commitment to developing local potential–based enterprises. The program also facilitated the establishment of three youth business groups to strengthen local economic institutions, with one group successfully developing a local processed product called Kekis Lea made from moringa leaves. The integration of local wisdom and Maqasid Shariah values contributed to strengthening business ethics, social responsibility, and sustainability orientation. This program contributes to developing a participatory model of rural youth entrepreneurship that integrates local resources and ethical values, with continued support recommended to ensure sustainability and broader economic impact.

Abstract

Household waste in Marunda remains an environmental problem because most of it has not been managed through sorting and utilization, thus potentially causing pollution and disease risks. This activity aims to evaluate the effect of household waste management education on the knowledge of eight Posyandu Toddler cadres as an empowerment effort in maintaining environmental health. The solution provided was interactive counseling on waste types, sorting, and the utilization of organic and inorganic waste. The level of knowledge was measured using questionnaires before and after the intervention, then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The level of knowledge was measured using questionnaires before and after the counseling, then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test to see changes in scores. The evaluation results showed a significance value of 0.084 (p > 0.05), which means there was no statistically significant difference in knowledge between before and after education. A longer duration of the activity and a larger sample size are needed to see a greater impact.
