Abstract

The phenomenon of juvenile delinquency in junior high school environments is an increasingly complex educational issue that requires a sustainable preventive approach. Social changes, the influence of peer groups, and the development of information technology—which are not always balanced by the reinforcement of moral values and character—are factors driving the emergence of various forms of deviant behavior among students. These conditions demand that education, particularly Islamic Religious Education (IRE), focus not only on cognitive development but also on shaping students’ attitudes, character, and humanistic values. This article aims to analyze humanistic-value-based PAI instruction as a preventive measure to curb juvenile delinquency at SMP Ma’arif NU 3 Purwokerto. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method conducted at SMP Ma’arif NU 3 Purwokerto. The research subjects consisted of one PAI teacher, one guidance counselor, and seven eighth- and ninth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and systematic conclusion drawing. The research results revealed three main findings. First, the implementation of humanistic-based PAI learning is realized through a dialogic learning process, teacher role modeling, and respect for the dignity, potential, and diversity of students in teaching and learning activities. Second, the internalization of humanistic values in PAI learning fosters behavioral changes in students, characterized by increased empathy, mutual respect, discipline, responsibility, and self-control in school life. Third, humanistic-value-based Islamic Religious Education (IRE) serves as a preventive measure against juvenile delinquency by fostering a school environment that is religious, inclusive, and conducive to the students’ continuous moral development

Abstract

Smoking among adolescents remains a health problem that requires serious attention, particularly through educational approaches tailored to the characteristics of students. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Stairs & Cigarettes game in anti-smoking education for high school students. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The subjects were high school students who were given a gamification-based educational game. The research instrument was a questionnaire on understanding the dangers of smoking compiled based on the Health Belief Model construct, including perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy. Data were analyzed using inferential statistics to determine differences in scores before and after treatment. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding after participating in the Stairs & Cigarettes game. This increase reflects positive changes in the perception of smoking risks, the benefits of anti-smoking behavior, and the strengthening of self-efficacy in refusing smoking invitations. These findings indicate that the Stairs & Cigarettes game not only improves cognitive aspects but also strengthens students' psychosocial readiness.

Abstract

Social interaction is an important aspect in student development because it plays a role in forming communication skills, cooperation, and positive social relationships in the school environment. However, the reality in the field shows that students' social interactions have not developed optimally. Therefore, innovative and fun learning strategies are needed to improve students' social interactions. This study aims to determine the effect of the Make A Match educational game on improving students' social interactions. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design of the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design type was used. The subjects of the study were 32 students of class VII G of SMPN 2 Banjarmasin in the 2025/2026 academic year who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a social interaction questionnaire that had passed validity and reliability tests. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing using paired sample t-tests. The results showed an increase in the average social interaction score from 153.53 in the pretest to 167.09 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test results showed a significance value of less than 0.05, indicating a significant difference between social interactions before and after the treatment. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Make A Match educational game significantly improved students' social interactions.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze the development of research on digital transformation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) indexed in Scopus during the 2010–2025 period. The focus of the study includes publication trends, main themes, types of technologies implemented, challenges faced, and future research directions. This study employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by adopting the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) protocol. Literature searches were conducted in the Scopus database using relevant keywords, yielding 312 initial articles. After undergoing screening and eligibility processes, 47 articles that met the inclusion criteria were obtained for in-depth analysis. The analysis results show a significant increase in publications on digital transformation in IRE in the last five years, especially post-COVID-19 pandemic. The main themes identified include: (1) integration of e-learning and mobile learning in IRE instruction, (2) development of digital-based learning media for Quranic education, (3) utilization of learning management systems (LMS) in Islamic educational institutions, (4) digital competence of IRE educators, and (5) ethical challenges in the digitalization of Islamic values. Indonesia and Malaysia are the largest contributors to publications in this field. Research gaps are still found in the aspects of artificial intelligence (AI) integration, long-term impact evaluation, and cross-cultural exploration. This study provides a comprehensive map of the research landscape on digital transformation in IRE, which can serve as a foundation for policy development, pedagogical innovation, and future research agendas. This review is the first SLR that specifically captures digital transformation in IRE with a 15-year time span (2010–2025) based on Scopus data, employing a rigorous PRISMA protocol, and presenting a comprehensive thematic synthesis.

Abstract

The use of ecological awareness instruments in educational settings raises significant concerns regarding measurement fairness across different demographic groups. This study aims to identify items that exhibit differential item functioning (DIF) in an ecological awareness instrument administered to elementary school students. Data were collected from 623 elementary school students in Nusa Penida, consisting of 329 boys and 294 girls across Grades 4 to 6. The instrument was analyzed using Item Response Theory (IRT) with the Generalized Partial Credit Model (GPCM), and DIF was detected using the lordif package in R. Results indicate that six items exhibited gender-based DIF, predominantly in the environmental participation dimension, while five items showed grade-based DIF, primarily within the environmental knowledge dimension. Female students demonstrated higher levels of ecological awareness than male students across all grade levels. These findings highlight the importance of selecting items that are equally interpretable across gender and grade groups to ensure fair and valid assessment of ecological awareness in elementary schools.

Abstract

This article aims to cognitively analyze the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad SAW related to cleanliness and their contribution to the formation of environmental awareness in the context of Islamic education. Through a literature study with a qualitative descriptive approach and content analysis, this study identifies the content and meaning of the hadith on cleanliness from a cognitive perspective, highlighting its influence on the thinking process, belief formation, internalization of values, development of executive functions, emotional connections, observational learning, awareness of consequences, attention to detail, social responsibility, empathy, and social consideration. Furthermore, this article explores how the hadiths on cleanliness contribute significantly to fostering environmental awareness through expanding the concept of cleanliness, instilling moral and ethical foundations, encouraging pro-environmental behavior, and emphasizing collective responsibility. Finally, this article proposes various effective cognitive strategies to instill the values ??of cleanliness and environmental awareness in Islamic religious education, including curriculum integration, contextual learning, use of analogies and metaphors, active and participatory learning, behavior modeling, media utilization, and positive reinforcement. It is expected that the implementation of this strategy can internalize the values ??of cleanliness in depth, form sustainable environmental awareness, and encourage real action in preserving nature as a mandate
