Abstract

The postmodern era is characterized by a decadence of moral and spiritual values, including in Christian life. Many Christians lose their understanding of the true meaning of Christianity, which has an impact on behavior, moral values, and lifestyles that are contrary to the example of Jesus Christ. Church leaders tend to seek personal gain, avoid sacrifice, and serve with the wrong motivations. The Church of God is also often trapped in sin, unable to forgive, and views Christianity as a mere religion or routine. In this context, an understanding of kenosis—the self-emptying of Jesus Christ—can be a motivation to live authentic Christianity. Through a literature study with a qualitative approach, this study found that Jesus' kenosis that emphasizes obedience to God is an example for Christians to live according to His will. The meaning of kenosis invites Christians to abandon selfishness, live in holiness, and reflect the love of Christ in daily behavior. Thus, kenosis can be a spiritual foundation to restore the authenticity of Christian life in the postmodern era.

Abstract

The environmental damage that is happening today, such as climate change, deforestation, and ocean pollution, demands a holistic and cross-sectoral response. In this context, religion can play a significant role in shaping human mindsets and behaviours towards nature. Eco-theology is a theological approach that integrates concern for the environment in the context of the Christian faith. With reference to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically those related to ecosystems such as Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 14 (Ocean Ecosystems), and Goal 15 (Terrestrial Ecosystems), eco-theology offers an ethical framework to encourage collective responsibility for creation. The approach used is qualitative descriptive through literature study. As a result, this article explores the principles of Christian ethics that can support the achievement of the goals of the SDGs ecosystem, including sustainable resource management, ecological justice, and environmental spirituality. With a multidisciplinary approach, this article demonstrates the relevance of eco-theology in answering global ecological challenges. As an implementation, eco-theology can be carried out through the Green Church Community, Ecological Liturgy, and Faith-Based Environmental Education.

Abstract

Divorce is one of the things that every Christian family does not want. Especially in the Christian faith, divorce is generally prohibited. However, it is undeniable that there are many cases of divorce among Christian families today. This study aims to provide a different perspective on divorce in the Christian faith according to the text of Matthew 19:9. By using qualitative methods and contextual analysis of the text of Matthew 19:9, this study wants to look at divorce due to adultery. The analysis of the text of Matthew 19:9 is also linked to the understanding of theonomic ethics so that divorce can be done if there is indeed a problem of adultery in the Christian family. With a theonomic ethics approach that emphasizes freedom in human responsibility and how to side with victims, divorce in Christian families can be done, because God's will is not alien to the fulfillment of our humanity. So through this study, Christian families who are having marital problems are still able to see God's infinite love for the limited human ability or flesh.

The dumia umbanua tradition has important historical and cultural values for the local community. However, the implementation of the Dumia Umbanua traditional ceremony often gives rise to differences in views and interpretations between custom and religion, as well as giving rise to conflict between communities. Some Christian religious figures in Minahasa even consider that the dumia umbanua traditional ceremony is not in accordance with the Christian faith. The aim of this research is to examine the dumia umbanua tradition; connecting dumia umbanua in the study of contextual mission theology and implementation in religious moderation. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research approach. using literature studies and field data. The results of research on contextual mission services in the Laikit community are an approach to church service that emphasizes the importance of contextual understanding in dealing with traditional controversies. Abstract

This research discusses the commitment of God's servant based on Philippians 3:13-14 and its integration with Goal Commitment Theory. The background of the problem shows that God's servants often face challenges in maintaining commitment to divine calling in the midst of complex ministry dynamics. The purpose of this research is to explore the relevance and application of the principles of commitment in a spiritual context, as well as how theory can strengthen the dedication of God's servants. This study uses a qualitative approach with hermeneutic analysis of the text of Philippians 3:13-14 and a literature review on Goal Commitment Theory. The results show that a strong commitment to divine purpose can increase motivation and effectiveness of ministry, where community support and self-reflection are key factors. Abstract

The tradition of Bόwό is one of the important cultural practices in the Nias tribal society, where the prospective husband gives a certain amount of money or property to the family of the prospective wife as a dowry. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Bόwό tradition on Christian family harmony with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with members of the Nias Tribe who have been involved in this tradition, as well as analysis of related literature. The results of the study show that although Bόwό is considered a symbol of appreciation and seriousness of the prospective husband, this tradition also has the potential to cause conflict in the family. Social pressure, unrealistic expectations, and shifting cultural values are the main factors that affect the negative impact of this tradition on household harmony. This research provides in-depth insight into the local cultural dynamics of the Nias Tribe and suggests the need for a more flexible approach in preserving traditions without sacrificing family harmony.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the significance of Christ's humility and sacrifice, particularly through His emptying and death on the cross, and its implications in alleviating interpersonal and social conflicts. Adopting a qualitative approach, the study employs literature review and content analysis methods to examine biblical texts, theological works, and modern theories on conflict and reconciliation. The research focuses on how the principles of Christ's humility and sacrifice, exemplified in His self-emptying action to serve humanity, can be applied to resolve conflicts and restore relationships between individuals. The findings of this study indicate that Christ's teachings provide a relevant model for reconciliation and peacebuilding, both in personal life and on a broader social scale. The novelty of this research lies in linking the theological values of Christ with contemporary conflict resolution theories, offering new insights into the role of humility and sacrifice in addressing social tensions. This study contributes to understanding the relevance of Christ's teachings in the context of current conflicts.

Abstract

The role of women in church ministry has been a long topic, especially in the context of churches that still adhere to patriarchal structures. The patriarchal church still places women in certain tasks that are considered "traditional" or "appropriate" to gender stereotypes and limits women to certain areas of service. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of this study show that the winding path of women in the ministry of patriarchal churches is more due to factors from within women, both in terms of emotional, intellectual and psychological aspects. Meanwhile, external factors are more about the negative stigma of patriarchal society that women should not lead men. These obstacles are a reality, but the church needs to guide women to overcome these weaknesses and at the same time enlighten men about the role of women in the ministry in this modern era. Through continuous guidance, women have great potential to develop and make a wide contribution to church ministry.
