Aksara merupakan jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Batanghari dan Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Batanghari. Jurnal ini merupakan jurnal penelitian yang mempublikasikan artikel hasil penelitian asli, studi kepustakaan, dan tulisan terkait dengan fokus pada kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, kajian bahasa dan kajian sastra. Semua artikel ditinjau oleh 4 orang reviewer, 2 orang reviewer internal dan 2 orang reviewer eksternal. Jurnal ini diterbitkan dua kali dalam satu tahun setiap bulan April dan bulan September, jurnal aksara ini dapat diakses pembaca, jurnal aksara ini berisi hasil penelitian pustaka maupun hasil penelitian lapangan. Jurnal ini meliputi beberapa ranah Ilmu sebagai berikut: 1. Kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia meliputi bidang pembelajaran keterampilan berbahasa, pembelajaran linguistik, pembelajaran semantik, pembelajaran pragmatik, pembelajaran wacana, pembelajaran sosiolinguistik, pembelajaran psikolinguistik serta pembelajaran puisi, pembelajaran prosa, pembelajaran fiksi, pembelajaran drama. 2. Kajian Bahasa Indonesia meliputi: fonologi, morfologi, sintaksis, analisis wacana, semantik, pragmatik, sosiolinguistik, psikolinguistik, bahasa dan budaya, dialektologi, dokumentasi bahasa, serta bidang keilmuan lain yang berkaitan dengan kajian kebahasaan. 3. Kajian Sastra Indonesia meliputi: sastra lisan dan sastra modern berupa kajian puisi, prosa fiksi dan drama.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe figurative language of comparison in the collection of poetry Biarkan Jariku Kini yang Mengungkapkannya by Kawe ‘Arkaan which consist of three aspects, they are: proverbs, personification, and depersonification. This research uses descriptive method with content analysis. The primary data of the research is the words which contain figurative language of comparison in the collection of the poetry Biarkan Jariku Kini yang Mengungkapkannya by  Kawe ‘Arkaan. Meanwhile the technique of collecting data is library study. Based on the result of the analysis, it can be found that there is figurative language in the collection of poetry Biarkan Jariku Kini yang Mengungkapkannya by Kawe ‘Arkaan. It has three aspects, they are provebs, personification, and depersonification. The result of the analysis shows: (1) 18 expressions of proverbs, (2) 51 expressions of personification, (3) no depersonification. The dominant of figurative language occured is personification.

Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the use of repetition words from the aspect of form, process, and meaning. This research is qualitative descriptive. The data is taken from the quotation of words which are required from data source. The data source is the native speaker of Jambi Malay who live in Niaso village Kecamatan Maro Sebo Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. The data is collected by using observation,  listening, speaking, and writing. The data is analyzed by using direct technique. The result of this research shows that there are 4 reduplications, namely (1) whole reduplication, (2) half reduplication, (3) affixes reduplication, (4) change of phoneme reduplication. There is also one meaning in this reduplication which is stating a work.  Keywords : Analysis, Verb Reduplication, Jambi Malay Language

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the use of picture and picturemodel in learning text writing at students class VIII/B MTS Negeri Sijenjang Kota Jambi Academic Year 2016/2017. The method of the research is qualitative descriptive. The data of this research is students test result in writing text about news. The technique of collection data is by using observation, interview, test, and documentation. The result of the interview that (1) there are 22 students who gained very good predicate in which the percentage is 61,11%, (2) there are 5 students who get good predicate in which the percentage is 13,89%, (3) there are 5 students who get fair predicate in which the percentage is 13,89% , and (4) there are 4 students who get fail predicate in which the percentage is 11,11%. So, it can be concluded that the students ability in writing news report text by using picture and pictureat students class VIII/B MTS Negeri Sijenjang Kota Jambi Academic Year 2016/2017 falls into good category in which the mean is 72.Key Words:picture and picture model, writing, report news text.

Abstract

This research aims at describing language errors in writing letter numbers, mailing letter, opening paragraph, and closing paragraph of official letters of SMA Negeri 9 Jambi City year of  2019. This research is a qualitative descriptive. The technique used in collecting data are observation and documentation. The results of the analysis show that the errors in writing letter numbers are the use of colons and slashes which are preceded and followed by a space. Errors in writing mailing letter is indicated in the use of kepada which indicates language redundancy; the use of a colon (:) which should be replaced by a period (.); the use of punctuation marks (.) at the end of the mailing address; and the use of bold letters in the mailing address. Written errors in the opening paragraph of the letter are the writing of the opening greeting Dengan hormat in the beginning of the paragraph that should be included in the first sentence of the letter opening. Written errors in the closing paragraphs of letters are the incomplete closing sentences of the letter which should have been mentioned earlier, written behind the word demikianlah; and errors in the use of preposition di.

Abstract

This research is aimed at identifying the use of picture media towards students class VII in writing foelk poetry in SMP Negeri 6 Kota Jambi. This research is quasi experiment. There are two classes used in this research, they are class VII A which consists of 35 students as control class and class VII B consists of 34 students as experiment class. Normality test, homogenity test are used in counting the mean of the result. Hte result of normality test from control class is Lcount = 0,9534 and in experiment class Lcount = 0,9629, while homogenity test is 1,38 and the test similiraity shows 0,162 bigger than significat  = 0,05. It means that this research is homogen and falls into the same condition. The result of the research shows that the value of tcount =2,164 bigger that ttable= 1,99601with significant  = 0,05 with dk 67. It can be concluded that picture media has a significant effect towards students class VII in writing foelk poetry in SMP Negeri 6 Kota Jambi.Key Word : picture media, writing foelk poetry

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the emotion of Lail character in the novel Hujan by Tere Liye which consists of 7 aspects, they are; the concept of guilt, the concept of hidden guilt, punishing self, feeling of ashamed, sadness, hate, and love. This research is qualitative descripptive by using structural approach. The data of this research is verbal data in the forms of sentences from the whole story or dialog paragraphs which have emotional values on the Lain character in the novel Hujan by Tere Liye.  Based on the analysis of the data, it can be found that there are 52 expressions occured from the Lail character. There is 5 expressions which represents the concept of guilt,  there is 5 expressions which represents the concept of hidden guilt, 4 expressions which represents punishing self, 9 expressions which represents feeling of ashamed, 12 expressions which represents sadness, 11 expressions which represents hate, and 6 expressions which represents love. So, it can be concluded that those 7 aspects occured in the character of Lail in the novel Hujan by Tere Liye.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to describe the assonance figurative language in Catatan Harian Catatan Najwa by Najwa Shihab. The data of this research is primary data which consists of quotations of assonance figurative language and the metaphor of that assonance. The source of this data is daily notes of Catatan Najwa by Najwa Shihab. This research is qualitative with descriptive method. Through collecting data, choosing data, and analyzing data, the research can understand the assonance figurative language and the metaphor from the daily notes of Catatan Najwa by Najwa Shihab. Moreover, the researcher interpreted it logically and drawed the conclusion for each discussion.The result shows that there are three things that are related to this research, they are two kinds of assonance figurative language; assonance figurative language of vowel repetition on one speech and one line. For example: Indonesia adalah kata kerja, kita semua yang harus menuntaskannya. Next is assonance figurative language with the repetition of vowel pattern on two lines, such as: Cukup lama dia geming membatuMenyindir kekuasaan yang penuh ragu. Moreover, there are some words that comprise metaphor, such as: Uluran tangan which means giving help, geming membatu which means being silent without saying any words, ibu pertiwi which means Indonesia land, which is suitable with this theory (Suwandi, 2011: 117). Thus, it can be concluded that there are two kinds of assonance figurative language and words that have metaphor meaning in Catatan Najwa daily notes.

Abstract

This research is intended to describe students ability in wiring poetry by using a picture of their idols in class VII A SMP Negeri Satu Atap Petaling Academic Year 2016/2017. This research uses quantitative descriptive method. The data is taken from students poetry in decribing their idols. This researh uses quantitative analysis. The data analysis is counted by using the percentage of students assessment in writing poetry. The data of the research is 25 students. Based on students result in writing poetry by describing their idols at class VII A SMPN Satu Atap Petaling Academic Year 2016/2017, it can be seen that there are 3 students who got 87,5 who fall into good category; there is 1 student who got 81,25 tat falls into very good category; there are 9 students who got 75 that fall into good category; there are 6 students who got 68,75 hat fall into good categroy; and there are 6 students who got 62,5 that fall into fair category. From those 25 students, the total score is 289 with the total score is 1806,5, and the mean is 72,25 that falls into good category. Hus, students ability in writing poetry in decribing their idols at class students of VII A SMP Negeri Satu Atap Petaling Academic Year 2016/2017 fall into good category.Key Words : ability, writing poetry, picturing idols.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the protagonist character. This research explains about literary work which consists of intrinsic and extrinsic element. This research focuses on the protagonist character. This research uses qualitative descriptive approach. The data is taken from the novel Perang by I Gusti Ngurah Putu Wijaya which has ben read clearly. From the data collection, the analysis of the protagonist character are described. Based on the results of data analysis, there are 3 quotations found, they are: 3 quotations of generous aspect, 5 quotations of honesty aspect,  6 quotations of the humble aspect, 5 quotations of defender aspect. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that in the novel Perang by Gusti Ngurah Putu Wijaya, there are four aspects of proragonist character, they are: generous, honesty, humble, and defender.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the semiotic of Lelaku Fourtwnty’s song lyric by Ari Lesmana. This research is descriptive qualitative. The primary data is in the form of lines which consist of semiotic icon and symbol in the song lyric of Lelaku Fourtwnty. The technique used in collecting the data is by using library study which focuses on analyzing semiotic icon and symbol in the lyric. The result of the analysis which is acquired from the song lyric of Fourtwnty by Ari Lesmana are; there are 4 icons and 2 symbols in the aspect of mild irritation, there are 4 icons and 3 symbols in the aspect of nature poem; there are 4 icons and 2 symbols in the aspect of black and white; there are 3 icons and 4 symbols in the aspect of pink blurry; there are 2 icons and 2 symbols in the aspect of self-calm; there are 2 icons and 2 symbols in the aspect of I am not an animal; there are 3 icons and 3 symbols in the aspect of tacit; there are 2 icons and 2 symbols in the aspect of dimension argumentation; and there are 3 icons and 2 symbols in the aspect of dawn discussion.
