The articles published have gone through the review process of the reviewers, which are related to communication science. Abstract

The transition from elementary to junior high school is a critical phase often marked by emotional instability, low ethical awareness, and a decline in students’ communication skills. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of weekly reflections integrated with classroom teacher–student communication as a strategy for developing moral and ethical character to foster conducive classroom management. A mixed-method approach was employed, with data collected through observation, daily reflections, and Google Form questionnaires. The findings indicate that consistent weekly reflections encourage improvements in students’ self-awareness, critical thinking, and self-control. This study underscores that the integration of reflection and communication is a strategic and effective approach to shaping new student habitus during the transition period.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed media consumption patterns and encouraged traditional radio to adapt through web streaming services. This study compares the mediamorphosis of the web streaming platforms of Radio Idola FM and Radio Prambors FM Semarang as a strategy to face digital transformation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through website observations and interviews with digital content managers. The findings show that Radio Idola FM emphasizes news, talk shows, and interview archives to maintain its adult audience. Meanwhile, Radio Prambors FM focuses on entertainment, music, podcasts, and interactive visual design to attract younger listeners. These findings indicate that mediamorphosis success is strongly influenced by audience segmentation and the integration of web streaming as an interactive medium.

Abstract

This qualitative case study research analyzes TVRI West Java’s strategy in utilizing youtube podcasts to build a positive image as a Public Broadcasting Institution (LPP). Furthermore, this study identifies the challenges and successes in integrating digital content. Data was gathered through in-depth interviews with the new media content management, observation of the podcasts content, and documentation studies, then analyzed using data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, and validated by triangulation. The results indicate that the utilization of youtube podcasts is a highly effective media convergence strategy. The platform not only disseminates content but also successfully creates a new image that is more modern, relevant, and accessible, especially among the young audience. This strategy significantly strengthens TVRI West Java’s position amid digital media competition, demonstrating the LPP’s adaptability, and allows for a more personal reach to the audience.

Abstract

The increase in internet penetration in Indonesia, which reached 79.5% in 2024, opened opportunities for the use of Instagram as a digital marketing platform. Kriya Sriwijaya, as a center for education and the development of South Sumatra’s crafts, used this platform to expand its market reach and promote local cultural products. This study aimed to analyze the influence of content quality, brand image, and brand trust on the effectiveness of product promotion on the Kriya Sriwijaya Instagram account, both partially and simultaneously. The research employed an explanatory quantitative method. The results showed that content quality and brand image had significant effects on promotional effectiveness, with p-values of 0.00 < 0.05. Meanwhile, brand trust had no significant effect, indicated by a p-value of 0.120 > 0.05. Simultaneously, the three variables explained 74.1% of promotional effectiveness. These findings indicated that content quality and brand image reinforced brand perception and enhanced promotional effectiveness. Abstract

This study stems from the case of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train derailment, which creates significant pressure on the reputation of PT Kereta Api Indonesia and requires a structured and rapid communication response. The purpose of this study is to analyze the application of crisis communication management based on Situational Crisis Communication Theory in an effort to restore public trust. The research used qualitative methods with case studies through in-depth interviews, analysis of official documents, and review of digital content related to the company's response. The results showed that PT KAI implemented a rebuild strategy through public apologies, compensation, and corrective actions combined with a bolstering strategy through the visual presentation of recovery progress in the field. The roles of the Supporting Public External Unit and the Social Media & Corporate Portal Unit complement each other, with the USPE maintaining the consistency of factual information in the mainstream media, while the USPC manages the dynamics of public emotions through more relatable and empathetic content. The findings also show that the company leadership's apology and transparency of information successfully reduced tensions and significantly improved public perception. This study concludes that PT KAI's success was influenced by the integration of consistent messaging, the use of digital sentiment monitoring, and the ability to balance technical explanations and empathy in crisis situations.

Abstract

This study examines Puan Maharani’s political communication strategy as Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives in responding to public criticism reported by MediaIndonesia.com. Using a constructivist paradigm, a qualitative descriptive approach, and Aristotelian rhetorical theory (ethos, pathos, and logos), the study analyzes news texts containing her statements. The findings show that Puan employs a reflective and legitimative rhetoric by acknowledging criticism, using inclusive emotional language, and presenting rational arguments. This strategy aims to rebuild public trust and strengthen the DPR’s institutional image in the digital media era.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic management of Digital Public Relations through educational content on the Instagram account @dishut_jabar. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observation, content analysis, and documentation. The findings reveal that digital public relations are managed systematically through content planning, visually engaging designs, communicative language, and interactive formats such as infographics, quizzes, and short-form videos. Two-way communication in the comment section facilitates dialogic interaction, encourages public discussion, and supports participation in environmental initiatives such as Jumat Menanam, despite challenges related to audience engagement and platform algorithms. These practices reflect the principles of Kent and Taylor’s Dialogic Public Relations Theory, including mutuality, propinquity, empathy, and risk. Overall, the study demonstrates how dialogic and educational social media communication can enhance public engagement and participation in government-led environmental conservation efforts.

Abstract

The issue of waste, as both an ecological and social problem, demands that mass media not only report facts but also frame a sense of collective responsibility between the government and society. This study analyzes how rri.co.id frames the issue of waste accumulation at the Temporary Disposal Site (TPS) in Bukit Betung, Bangka, using Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis framework. The analysis covers three dimensions: text, discourse practice, and social practice. At the textual level, rri.co.id employs a neutral and educational tone, using phrases such as “public awareness” and “shared responsibility.” The discourse practice dimension reveals a top–down communication pattern, with government officials as the dominant sources and citizens positioned merely as narrative support. In the social practice dimension, the reporting reinforces a paternalistic ideology, shifting responsibility primarily onto individual behavior while structural aspects—such as waste management policies and infrastructure—receive limited attention.

Abstract

In today’s interconnected world, social media plays a vital role in how individuals build and display their identities, particularly among Generation Z. This study explores how migrant students employ Instagram’s multiple account features as a means of managing impressions, forming interpersonal connections, and navigating cultural adaptation. Drawing on Erving Goffman’s dramaturgy theory, the research examines frontstage and backstage behaviors within digital environments, highlighting how public and private expressions reflect broader cultural and emotional dynamics. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews and digital content observation. The findings reveal that while public accounts reflect aspirational self-representations aimed at social validation, private spaces serve as emotional outlets that enable authenticity and interpersonal closeness. This demonstrates how digital platforms function as arenas for cultural negotiation and identity work, underscoring the interpersonal complexities of digital communication.

Abstract

In the internet era dominated by social media, visual communication styles greatly influence customer perceptions and behavior. The purpose of this study is to further explore how visual aesthetics, particularly in terms of Instagram feed design, influence the purchasing power of young female customers in the city of Yogyakarta. Since women are often considered a potential target market with high consumption levels, this phenomenon is interesting to study. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research method by conducting in-depth interviews with millennials in Yogyakarta. The findings reveal that the design of online stores' Instagram feeds is significantly influenced by visual aesthetics. If the visual design presented is appealing, innovative, and aligns with the buyer's personal style, they are more likely to be interested and decide to purchase the product. These results indicate that online businesses should prioritize investing in high-quality visual design..
