Abstract

This article shows the process of minoritization of Ahmadiyya in Indonesia. This is a phenomenon of the post-Suharto regime. Under the currentIndonesias liberal democratic system, the existence of minority groups is oftenmarginalized because they are considered not important for political party towin the election. Minoritization occurs when two conditions are met, namelythe strengthening of radical Islamic groups and the seemingly indecisivebehavior of government to deal with radicalism. The paper critically looksat the current Indonesia political system in order to look for solution to theAhmadiyya issue. Keywords: minoritization, Ahamdiyya, radical Islam, liberal democracy.

Abstract

A flourishing study on Indonesias economic history in the last two decades has stillbeen unable to change a general impression of limited role of the indigenous peoplein economic activities during modern times. The transformation of the Indonesianeconomy from a colonial economy to a national economy through the process ofIndonesianisasi, went through different historical patterns. The independent Indonesiadid not translate the idea of political nationalism directly into economic prosperityuntil the late 1950s. As a result, there is always only a small portion of independententrepreneurs among the population, namely those who are supposed to run the publiceconomy smoothly without political intervention. This paper provides theoreticalconsiderations and historical facts on the process of Indonesianisasi. It discusses theeconomic life of people in Yogyakarta, the capital city Republic of Indonesia duringthe war of independence, soon after the recognition of Indonesias independence inDecember 1949.Keywords: Indonesianisasi, Colonial period, Foreign domination, Yogyakarta

Abstract

ABSTRACTPancasila is the basis for the nation of Indonesia. The application of Pancasila values in entrepreneurship will encourage new entrepreneurs who grow in accordance with the culture that develops in Indonesia as a populist economy characterized by Indonesia. The existence of Pancasila entrepreneurship in the form of a populist economy can encourage the creation of new jobs so that it can be a solution in reducing unemployment. Entrepreneurs can be formed and trained, so the most important one is the existence of entrepreneurial intention. Therefore, it is important to know the determinants of entrepreneurial intention. One approach to look at the factors that influence interest in entrepreneurship is through Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). There are three main components in TPB, which are attitude, social norm and perceived behavioral control. This study aims to: analyze the effect of the perceived implementation of Pancasila to attitude; analyze the effect of perceived implementation of Pancasila to perceived behavioral control; analyze the effect of the perceived implementation of Pancasila to social norms; analyze the effect of attitude to entrepreneurial intention; analyze the effect of perceived behavioral control to entrepreneurial intention; analyze the influence of social norm to entrepreneurial intention; analyze the effect of access to entrepreneurial intention; analyze the effect of access to entrepreneurial action; analyze the effect of entrepreneurial intention on entrepreneurial action.

Abstract

Tin has been exploited since the early 18th century in the island of Bangka. Since that time, this extractive industry has been a leading export commodity and has given important contributions to the state revenue. Despite already being mined for more than three centuries, only since the Reform era (1998), there has been a series of long and controversial debates over the control of tin resources and its environmental impact. The debates have on this issue has been conducted intensively from 2000 until 2007. However, when the second governor of the province was nominated in 2007, criticisms were reduced, particularly when Babel Hijau Lestari was created by the Governor in July 2007.This article tries to elucidate the issues on the control over tin resources and environmental damages as a window of opportunity to observe the political motivations of state actors and the local community behind the debates. Unlike the general perception, state actors and the local community are not homogeneous entities. Their views over control of mines and environmental issues are fragmented and contradictory with each other. The different point of views of actors cannot be separated from their struggles to gain political and economic accesses. By looking at a trajectory of control over tin resources, its impact on environment, and the responses of the actors to it, soon we will discover a different environmental politics in relation to the struggles of actors in the period of decentralization and local autonomy. Keywords: political ecology, actors, access, tin resources and environmental damage, Bangka island.

Abstract

The Moluccans were one of the ethnic minorities transported to the Netherlands after the Second World War. They were the ex-KNIL soldiers (Dutch colonial army) who intended to demobilise to Ambon at the end of their contract. However the political situation was not conducive as the RMS (Republic of South Moluccas) was proclaimed in Ambon. Finally, the Dutch government saw no other option except to bring these soldiers together with their families to the Netherlands. This article investigates aspects of the practice of Moluccan identity in a diasporic context in which people identify, participate, negotiate and construct their identity in the Netherlands. I begin by addressing the historical and the contemporary components of being a Moluccan in the Netherlands, and argue that the history of transportation to the Netherlands itself constitutes an empowering narrative of survival and a key element in the formation of an ethnic identity among Dutch society. Keywords: Maluku, KNIL, the Netherlands, diaspora, and identity

Abstract

In East Kalimantan, mining sector contributes more than three quarter of the provinces Gross Domestic Product. Given the high dependency on this sector, demand ? uctuation for mining products will have a signi? cant effect on the provincial economy. Since the decentralization era, mining activities, especially coal, have been increasing rapidly. Both the provincial and the district government have collected signi? cant income from the non-tax revenue. Despite the increased in the revenue, however, mining activities have not been able to improve the welfare of the communities. Even worse, there are widespread environmental damages in East Kalimantan due to reckless coal mining activities. In addition to this negative environmental impact, coal mining activities have also caused a series of con? ict both vertically and horizontally among communities. It coused some people to lose their land and their livelihoods. This paper examines coal mining activities in East Kalimantan and how it caused con? icts in the area. The study inds that there is a strong relationship between the forest, the land, and Dayak people, the indigenous people in this province. The forest and the land in East Kalimantan are used as a medium for showing peoples cultural identity. Without their forest and their land, Dayak people can not survive their cultural identity.
