Abstract

Learning is an activity with an intention so that the learning process of a person or group of people can take place. For this reason, a teacher must strive to create a conducive environment or condition system so that learning activities can achieve goals effectively and efficiently (Sunaryo, 1996: 16). Reading is one part of skill in english that should be learn. Reading is one of English skill that should be mastered by the foreign learner in Indonesia, especially the students in Junior High School. The aim of this research was to know whether or not the use of role play technique could improve the IX-A grade students’ comprehension in reading narrative text at SMPN 1 Pematangsiantar. The research design used was Classroom Action Research. The data of this research was taken from test,interview, and observation. The result showed some improvements in each cycle. In Cycle 1, there were about 13 students who were active in teaching learning activity. In Cycle 2, there was 19 students who were active in teaching learning activity. It indicated that the use of Role Play technique could improve the students’ comprehension in reading narrative texts at the nine grade of SMP N 1 Pematangsiantar.

Abstract

This study aims to answer the research problem about the non-linguistic problems in writing faced by grade eight at Junior High School 1 Pematangsiantar. The objective of this study was to identify some non-linguistic problems in writing faced by the grade eight at Junior High School 1 Pematangsiantar. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by using descriptive quantitative. The research participants of this study were thirty two students from grade eight of Junior High School 1 Pematangsiantar who had writing scores were the passing grade criteria. In addition, the instruments employed closed-ended questionnaire and semi-structured interview. The result of the study revealed that the grade eight encountered several non-linguistic problems in writing, comprised of: (1)students lacked of learning motivation, (2) lacked of support from people surrounding, poor facilities, and teacher’s related issues. Moreover, not all the students encountered those problems because every student had different linguistic problems in writing. Therefore, some contributions from the headmaster, English teacher and the students are needed in order to minimize those kinds of linguistic problems.

Abstract

The study is aimed to investigate the internal and external problems in Writing by the Senior High Students in one of the school in Simalungun SMA Negeri 2 Bandar. The sample of this study is the eleventh grade students having low ability in Writing. This research is a qualitative study using purposive sample. In collecting the qualitative data the researchers did observation, and distributed questionnaire. This study reveals some findings related to the students’ low ability in writing.

Abstract

This study aims to find the difficulties when reading English which are mostly faced by students vocational students. This study used qualitative research methods. The research instrument is observations and interviews. Based on the results of observations and interviews, it was found that students find reading difficulties such as (1) not liking English lessons, (2) mental problems, (3) boring teacher teaching techniques (4) mistakes in word pronunciation. Reading skills are very important for us because by reading we will get the information we need easily. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct this research to solve these problems with reading difficulties experienced by students, so there are improvements for the future and students' reading skills will improve.

Abstract

Inter-religious dialogue has a critical function internally and externally. Such dialogue offers a new reality for the advancement of living together in society, because there is a dynamic process in religious understanding and its application. This study aims to look at dialogue between religious communities in an effort to prevent conflict. The research was carried out using a qualitative approach. Secondary data was extracted through document analysis of various books, religious scriptures, and documents related to this research. The data were analyzed qualitatively (thematically) which resulted in the following findings: (i) inter-religious dialogue was carried out through social activities, (ii) there was a habit and awareness of the community to carry the burden together in mutual cooperation, (iii) support from village leaders and religious leaders. . The results of this study are discussed with various theories and the results of previous research, and can be used as a reference for creating peace, harmony, tranquility, harmony and mutual respect for the principle of togetherness in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

Koyama's thoughts are really interesting for us to help understand the diversity in a culture. The results of the study of Koyama's thoughts when related to the realities of life, found that modern Christian theological thinking in Asia (in this case is the Thai context where Koyama lives) is related to the economic, social, and political situation in Asia which is still experiencing poverty, underdevelopment, and poverty. oppression from the rulers. Abstract

Teaching speaking is very important for foreign learners. Through speaking skills, many things can be achieved. But in fact, there are still many students at the high school level who have difficulty speaking English. This makes them passive in the classroom and subsequently do not get a career advancement in the world of work. The purpose of this study was to test whether English games could improve speaking skills and student motivation in first grade at SMA N 1 Dolok Batu Nanggar and to determine the factors that influence the improvement of speaking skills and learning motivation. This research is included in classroom action research. Data was collected through assessment, observation, and interviews. Assessment is used to assess speaking; Observation sheets were used to assess students' learning motivation, then interviews and field notes were used to obtain further information. The findings of this study have answered the research question, that the use of English games can improve students' speaking skills and learning motivation at SMA N 1 Dolok Batu Nanggar. This technique is very useful for improving students' speaking skills and learning motivation. This technique should be applied in SMA N 1 Dolok Batu Nanggar, and it is suggested to schools with poor speaking skills and low learning motivation to apply and develop this method to overcome these students' English learning problems.

The criminal justice system can be defined as the use of a systems approach to the administrative mechanism of criminal justice, and criminal justice as a system is the result of the interaction between laws and regulations, administrative practices and social attitudes or behavior. Abstract

This article describes the English listening problems faced by private course students in Pematangsiantar. Specifically revealing (1) students' English listening skills, (2) problems faced in listening to English and (3) how teachers solve these problems. Data were obtained through a series of English listening tests using recordings with native and non-native speakers, observations and interviews. The findings show (1) the problems they often face in listening to English which are related to speaking speed, limited vocabulary, concentration levels and language habits, and (3) To overcome them, teachers must apply the correct technique of practice. by providing students with several ways to practice listening to English. Thus, it can be concluded that the teacher's efforts can solve problems by listening to the problems faced by students
