Abstract

Although the world's forest resources have decreased, paper production has increased. Utilization of recycled fiber Recycle Fiber as a substitute for new fiber Virgin Fiber in production has a significant influence in the world of paper industri. In 2011 the world paper industri reached 403 million tons and about (53%) was produced from recycled paper. production of recycled fiber is cost competitive because the production cost is lower than Virgin Fiber's new fiber. Approximately (80%) of this type of paper comes from three sources, namely OCC Old Corrugated Containers, ONP Old Newspaper, and Office waste paper. (20%) of the used paper is removed from the ink which will be used as raw material for newsprint, tissue, white liner, or other types of white paper. Some of the raw materials for paper are used for paperboard, mineral cardboard. In the manufacture of paperboard, there is a type of Test Liner paper which is widely used as surface coating paper on cardboard.

Abstract

The main landing gear is one of the important components in UAV aircraft. This paper aims to analyze the natural frequency of the main landing gear and determine its normal mode shape. This analysis is important so that no resonance causes damage to the main landing gear components. The main landing gear uses Aluminum 6061 material and the analysis is carried out using the finite element method with the help of Ansys Workbench software. The analysis showed that the natural main landing gear frequencies for mode 1 to mode 6 were 76.04 Hz, 85.07 Hz, 167.82 Hz, 201.92 Hz, 288.39 Hz, and 327.00 Hz, respectively. The maximum deformation of the main landing gear for mode 1 to mode 6 is 33.73 mm, 35.35 mm, 48.16 mm, 44.62 mm, 38.14 mm, and 41.51 mm, respectively.

Abstract

Most of the residents in Mangunrejo Hamlet, Bangkok Village, Gurah District, Kediri Regency, East Java Province, cultivate catfish as one of their livelihoods. Catfish Pellet Printing Machine Capacity of 40 kg/hour can be a solution to reduce the cost of catfish cultivation so as to increase the profits obtained. In designing a catfish pellet molding machine with a capacity of 40 kg/hour, among others, planning the frame design and testing, calculating the frame, making the frame and components supported by the frame. Several processes in making the frame on a catfish pellet molding machine with a capacity of 40 kg/hour include material procurement, measurement, cutting, welding, drilling, cutting, finishing, and assembling components supported by the frame, as well as testing the frame. Based on the results of the discussion, it can be concluded that the type of frame material used is angled iron 6 meters 40 mm x 4 mm thick 3 mm with engine frame dimensions as follows: height 104 cm, width 104 cm, and length 119 cm. In addition, this frame is also able to support a variety of mixed materials that will be used to print pellets because because σtensile frame<σmax material that is 16,09 N/mm2 < 723,83 N/mm2.

Abstract

Refrigeration is one way to maintain the temperature of a material or a room at a lower level than the ambient temperature conditions around it by absorbing heat from the material or room. The refrigeration system that is widely used today for industrial purposes is to use a vapor compression cycle, where in this vapor compression cycle one of the components that has an important role is the compressor. Over time, the performance of the compressor will decrease, so it will affect the heat absorption process of the material to be cooled. With the reduced ability of the heat absorption process, it will reduce the efficiency level of the compressor. Based on the results of the efficiency analysis on the performance of the refrigeration system compressor at PT. XYZ, then the efficiency value is 73.98%.

Abstract

MgB2 is a high possible superconducting material that can be applied quite practically with the functionalization of Mg-B materials. Material development is carried out by adding carbon, namely Graphene Oxide (GO), which is a single atom layered material. The Powder in Sealed Tube (PIST) method is practically used to reduce oxidation. This study aims to analyze the effect of GO material doped with the PIST method made from MgB2 with a sintering temperature of 800℃ for 2 hours on its superconductivity, compound formation, and microstructure. The manufacturing process is carried out in a 1:2 ratio where 98% purity Mg is mixed with Boron, which is then added with 0, 0.3 and 3% wt GO doping, all ingredients are mixed stoichiometrically. The material that has been put in a tube and compacted sufficiently into SS316L which has been closed on one side to enter the powder, is then compacted with high pressure up to 1000 MPa. The material is sintered at a temperature of 800℃ for 2 hours which is then carried out by cooling in the furnace and taking bulk samples. The XRD results showed the formation of the dominant MgB2 phase and the formation of an impurity phase in the form of MgO and obtained a decent crystal size of 295 which was owned by the 3%wt GO PIST MgB2 sample. The SEM test shows the forms of formation (agglomeration) in each sample, with the presence of several axes. Cryogenic testing shows that with doping there is a movement of critical temperature to a lower direction where MgB2 0%wt GO has a TcOnset value of 39.4 K and a TcZero of 38.7 K, while MgB2 3%wt GO has a TcOnset value of 39.6 K and TcZero of 38 K.

Abstract

Lateritic steel is a low-nickel steel with a nickel content of 1-4.5 percent. Steel with a high nickel percentage has better qualities like high strength, corrosion resistance, and weldability. This material is commonly used in crushers and grinding machines. This material can also be utilized as an armor material. A study was undertaken to investigate the ability of laterite steel to be employed as armor material by characteristic testing (impact test and hardness test) and microstructure (metallography) of laterite steel. ASTM standards must be followed in the preparation of all samples. The impact test was performed on 9 samples from 3 specimens, with each sample being placed on an anvil and pounded with a pendulum that the average values of samples A, B, and D were 11 J, 9 J, and 12 J, respectively. The fractures were granular, indicating that the material is extremely fragile. The hardness test was then performed using the Vickers method with a 5 Kgf load. The polished sample is placed immediately on a vise, and then a diamond-shaped indenter is attached; the hardness test value is determined by the size of the trace of the indenter, with the average values of samples A, B, and D being 292.63 HVN, 310.47 HVN, and 464.87 HVN, respectively. Microstructure measurements revealed that sample A formed ferrite perlite, sample B formed lower bainite, and sample D formed martensite phase.

Abstract

Laterite steel is steel that has a nickel content of up to 2%. The nickel content can produce steel with superior properties such as: high strength, corrosion resistance, and good weldability properties. With the superior nature of laterite steel is needed in the main tool of the indonesian national tantara weapon system. To find out the performance of damage to bulletproof materials, then conducted research on this laterite steel as a tough armour material by conducting research in the form of mechanical properties testing (Hardness, and Impact) and microstructures (Metalography). Samples are prepared in accordance with ASTM standardization. Based on the results of the hardness test, the average values of F and T samples were 663.9 HVN and 170.7 HVN. Material F qualifies as a ballistic resistant material (armour) because the hardness obtained in accordance with the classification and can withstand bullet penetration well. Then the impact test obtained the average value of the F and T samples is 9 joules and 148 joules. For F samples, the type of fault is a granular fracture and a T sample of the type of fault is a tenacious fracture. As a result of metallographics, sample F has a corrected phase is upper bainite as a matrix and martensite is generally shaped like a fine needle. Then the T sample has a formed phase is dominated by ferrite with soft and tenacious properties. As well as perlite as a matrix with quite hard and strong properties.

Abstract

This study aims to observe the impact of the fiber lengths and NaOH treatment on the tensile properties of composite materials made from borassus fiber and polyester matrix. This study used fibers from borassus fruit, Wax Mirror Glass, Polyester and Alkali (NaOH). The NaOH treatment was carried out by soaking the fiber in a 15% NaOH solution for 2 hours. The length of the fiber in this study were short fiber (<1cm) and long fiber (>8 cm). The composition of the number of fibers and matrix in this study was calculated based on the volume fraction of the fiber and the volume fraction of the matrix. The test spesimens were made according to the tensile test standard ASTM D-3039. The results showed that short fiber reinforced composites treated with 15% NaOH for 2 hours had the highest tensile stress value with an average value of 5.896 MPa, while the lowest was found in composites with long fiber reinforcement without alkali treatment with an average value of 1.625 MPa. The results of the macro photo describe the shape of fiber pull out in the composite with long fiber reinforcement without treatment, while the short fiber reinforced composite with alkali treatment has a brittle fracture without fiber pull out.

Abstract

The drying is a process of reducing to remove a certain amount of water in a material or place contains water. Drying process will not be maximized if tools used are still conventional, we need a machine to help for drying process effectively and efficiently. This research was conducted to provide a solution for the floor drying process, by designing and manufacturing a drying machine using a remote control. The method used in this study is an experimental method, carried out in several stages starting with data collection and literature study, next stage is to make a design drawing, determine the materials and materials needed, carry out the manufacturing process, assemble the control system, carry out assembly and finally carry out a machine test. The design of this machine uses a 12V DC motor drive system, equipped with a water pusher (wiper) and a mop device made of microfiber material. Machine uses an energy source from a battery with a capacity of 12V,12A. Machine is controlled using a remote control assembled from arduino. The last stage of this research is to conduct a test to determine the performance, the test is carried out on the driving motor (forward, backward, turn left, and turn right), the wiper movement (up and down), and the pel rotation. A machine made has dimensions of 810 cm long, 550 cm wide and 200 cm high .Results of the machine testing process can be concluded that the machine can run.

Abstract

The tapping process on the ktmy joint brake rod and uncertainty during the deep tapping process with different sizes are serious problems so this research has the aim of being able to find out more about the tapping process to make threads and be able to find out the types of tapping eye sizes. which is used to make threads. Field studies carried out in this practical work activity were by visiting directly to the production department of PT. Ciptaunggul Karya Abadi. The data used in this study were obtained from data regarding uncertainty during the tapping process if it is intended to make internal threads of different sizes that occur in the Taiwan Tapping Machines M32 semi-automatic tapping machine and also the interview method conducted directly. The data that has been obtained is then continued by designing a fishbone diagram. From the results of the study, based on the results of the analysis using the fishbone diagram method about broken pins on the tapping machine, there are 4 influencing factors, namely: material, method, machine, and human. Of these 4 factors, the biggest influence on the broken pin on the Taiwan Tapping Machines M32 type tapping machine is the manpower and method. This is because the operator has only worked for less than a month, there is no retraining and the SOP (Standard Operational Procedure) is not posted on the machine work area.
