Abstract

Rasbora spilotaenia is one of the endemic fishes of Sumatra Island. Its natural habitat is found in Aek Kanan and is included in the administrative area of North Padang Lawas Regency. Until now there has been no data and information related to the bioecological aspects of R. spilotaenia reported from the North Padang Lawas Regency area. The aim of the study was to determine the bioecological aspects of R. spilotaenia and its conservation status in IUCN. The research conducted was exploratory with the determination of the observation station point by purposive sampling. Fish were caught using 2 different mesh sizes, namely sizes, ⅟₂ and ¼ inch. Samples of fish caught were measured in total length and weight, and the number of males and females were counted. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Based on the frequency distribution data, the most length class was found to be 6.5-7.8 cm (8 individuals) and the least was 5.1 -6.4 cm (0), the sex ratio between males and females (1:2), the highest population density at Station 2 (0. 91 individuals/100 m2) and lowest at Station 1 (0.06 individuals/100 m2), length-weight relationship with R2 value (0.9562), and parameters of mean temperature (27oC), brightness (111.33 cm), depth (1.01 m), current (0.46 m/s), pH (5.67), and DO (6.6 mg/L). It was concluded that the bioecological aspects of R. spilotaenia in Aek Kanan are still stable towards population conditions and natural habitats still support the life of fish, but for conservation status needs a little attention.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease that currently has significant morbidity and mortality rates. In Indonesia, the trend of DHF cases has increased and decreased every year. This study aims to analyze the development of dengue cases by considering two indicators, namely dengue incidence rate and dengue case fatality rate (CFR) during the period 2012-2022, to know the pattern of dengue disease in Indonesia, and evaluate the government's target in handling dengue cases based on IR and CFR rates. The data used is secondary data obtained from the 2021 Indonesian Health Profile and the 2022 Dengue Fever Annual Report. IR and CFR data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel which will be interpreted in the form of graphs to illustrate the trends and patterns of DHF cases in Indonesia, IR maps in 2021 and 2022 were analyzed using ArcGIS software. Based on the results of the analysis, the development of dengue cases during the period 2012-2022 experienced a misalignment between the increasing trend of IR and CFR. The IR value experienced significant fluctuations from 37.3 per 100,000 population in 2012 to 52.07 per 100,000 population in 2022, while the CFR value during the period 2012-2022 tended to decrease from 0.90% (2012) to 0.86% (2022). This pattern reflects the complex dynamics of DHF epidemiology, where an increase in cases is not always followed by an increase in fatalities. The IR and CFR achievements for 2022 have not met the government's expectations, with only 16% of districts/cities having IR values ≤ 10/100,000, while the CFR value reached 0.86%, slightly above the set target of 0.7%.

Abstract

Learning in the 21st-century era students are required to have critical thinking skills, but at the time these abilities were still in the low category. So we need a solution to overcome this problem. This study aims to determine the effect of applying differentiating learning materials based on multiple intelligences on students' thinking abilities. The method used is a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects were students of class X SMA in Sukabumi City. The sampling technique used purposive sampling was 63 students, namely 32 in the experimental class and 31 in the control class. The instruments used are critical thinking skills test questions, and observation sheets using differentiated modules. The results of the study stated that the pretest-posttest value with an N-Gain calculation of 0.76 was in the high category with an average pretest-posttest value difference of 53.21. The limits of multiple intelligence are the two most dominant intelligence in the experimental class: linguistic intelligence and intrapersonal intelligence. Students with linguistic intelligence effectively use the differentiated module with an N-Gain value of 0.78 or in the high category. The average student response results in the use of differentiated teaching materials is 86.85 or in the very good category. The conclusions of this study, differentiated teaching materials based on multiple intelligences affect students' critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

Worms are a disease that attacks humans in tropical areas. The cause of worm infections in the community is from the Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) worm group, but the government pays little attention to this. In the process of identifying worm eggs, 2% eosin has been used, which apparently produces waste that is difficult to decompose. Sappan lignum is a natural dye because it contains brizilin which can give a red color, so it can be used as a worm egg dye replacing 2% eosin. This study aims to test whether sappan lignum extract can be used as a dye in fecal examination to detect SHT infections. This research is descriptive research. Examination of worm eggs using the direct feces method was carried out using sappan lignum extract dye with 96% ethanol and 2% eosin as a positive control. This research shows that sappan lignum ethanol extract at a coloring ratio of 1:3 is the best dye compared to other ratios and can be used as a substitute for eosin dye. The conclusion of this research is that sappan lignum ethanol extract can be used as a natural dye in identifying worm eggs.

Abstract

Tetrastigma is a genus in the Vitaceae family which is characterized by the presence of tendrils. This plant has a liana habit, which requires tall plants as support in its life. Induction of host roots, Tetrastigma papillosum, in this study, used Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA), which is a class of auxin that functions to induce cell expansion and initiation of rooting. This research was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications. Several NAA concentrations as treatments consist of A (0 ppm), B (2.5 ppm), C (5 ppm), D (7.5 ppm), and E (10 ppm). Root induction of Tetrastigma papillosum can be initiated with NAA at small concentrations because endogenous auxin induces roots more quickly.

Abstract

The main principle of pest control in organic farming is to reduce the use of synthetic chemicals, especially pesticides. On the other hand, pest control in agricultural systems prioritizes the conservation of natural enemies in these ecosystems. Coccinellidae predators are one of the potential natural enemies available in organic farming ecosystems. To optimize the potential of these natural enemies, it is necessary to study the diversity of these predators in organic farming. By knowing the species and abundance of Coccinellidae predators in organic farming ecosystems, a suitable conservation model can be designed for these natural enemies so that these predators can carry out their functions to control pests, especially aphids. This study aims to study the diversity of predatory Coccinellidae in organic and inorganic agriculture in West Sumatra Province. Coccinellidae predators are collected directly and use insect nets. The diversity of Coccinellidae predators was analyzed with the Shannon Winner and Simpson abundance indexes. Based on the exploration carried out on several organic farms in West Sumatra, 18 species of Coccinellidae Predators have been collected, and six species have not been identified. Next, it is proven that organic farming has a high diversity of 1.90 compared to inorganic farming, which is 1.65. The presence of predatory Coccinellidae in organic farming is more evenly distributed, namely 0.67. Menochilus sexmaculatus is one species that has the potential to be optimized as a biological control agent for aphids.
