Abstract

The increasing public interest in reading online news is undoubtedly a challenge for news portals as online news providers. Therefore, this research was conducted to predict news popularity in West Sumatra through the FajarSumbar.com news portal using the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model. This research aims to develop a forecasting model that can assist in estimating the popularity of each news category so that news portals can devise more effective content strategies. The data used in this study includes the number of monthly news impressions from March 2021 to June 2024, which are grouped into various categories such as Religion Culture, Industrial Economics, Criminal Law, etc. Using the ARIMA method, which can handle time series data and overcome data non-stationarity problems through differencing and the use of grid search in optimization to find the best parameters based on the lowest evaluation metric. The results show that the ARIMA model can provide reasonably accurate predictions, although the level of accuracy varies between categories. The Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) values obtained are as follows: Religion Culture 26%, Industrial Economy 29%, Criminal Law 29%, Health 40%, Sports 38%, Tourism Entertainment 26%, Education 27%, Government Politics 31%, Social Environment 27%, and Technology 51%. The Technology and Health news categories show higher error rates than others, while Religion Culture and Tourism Entertainment have better accuracy rates. Thus, the ARIMA model can be used to predict future trends in news popularity, helping editors plan content strategies that are more relevant and interesting to readers. However, improvements are needed for news categories that have high variability.

Abstract

Plagiarism detection is critical in maintaining academic integrity, particularly in higher education. This study focuses on developing a plagiarism detection application for Computer Science student theses. The application leverages the Cosine Similarity and Rabin-Karp algorithms to accurately and efficiently detect textual similarities. Developed using JavaScript, the application provides an intuitive interface and reliable performance, making it a practical tool for educational institutions. The application includes features allowing users to upload thesis documents, analyze textual content, and measure plagiarism levels by comparing them to an existing dataset. The Cosine Similarity algorithm measures the overall similarity between documents, while the Rabin-Karp algorithm focuses on identifying exact matches in phrases and sentences. The results demonstrate the efficacy of both algorithms. For titles, the Cosine Similarity algorithm achieved a 100% similarity rate for identical documents while detecting minor plagiarism with a similarity level of 5.86% for other documents. For abstracts, it achieved 100% similarity for the first document, 2.78% for the second document, and 8.37% for the third document. These findings highlight the algorithm's ability to detect exact matches and partial overlaps in textual content. The Rabin-Karp algorithm showed comparable performance, particularly in detecting phrase-level similarities. For titles, it recorded 100% similarity for identical documents, 11.42% for the second document, and 16.92% for the third document. For abstracts, the algorithm also achieved 100% similarity for the first document, 11.42% for the second document, and 16.81% for the third document. The study confirms that both algorithms complement each other in detecting different forms of plagiarism. The Cosine Similarity algorithm excels in identifying global patterns of similarity, while the Rabin-Karp algorithm is more suited for finding exact matches in specific phrases or sentences. This dual approach provides a comprehensive solution for detecting plagiarism in academic theses. The findings from this research are promising and highlight the potential of the application as a reliable tool for ensuring academic integrity. Future improvements could include expanding the dataset, enhancing the user interface, and integrating additional algorithms for cross-language plagiarism detection. Abstract

This study aims to identify the potential for occupational health and safety hazards using the Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) method and to provide recommendations for resolving the root causes of work accidents using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). This study was conducted at PT. X, engaged in the plantation and processing of latex, is called Crumb Rubber. Based on data from 2022 to 2023, there are eight potential work accidents caused by several factors, such as the work environment, machines, and humans. The company has implemented an occupational health and safety program to support the safety of the company workforce. Even so, work accidents in the company still occur due to workers not being aware of the importance of occupational health and safety; this can be seen in workers who ignore their safety by not using complete personal protective equipment provided by the company. This still causes the potential for work accidents to occur. The study results show that the Hazard and Operability analysis revealed four different sources of danger that need attention: Low risk, such as split palms and slipping; Medium risk, including incidents such as sprained hands. High risk, including the potential for feet being stabbed by hooks, injured or cut hands, blistered and itchy hands, forklift accidents, and exposure to chemicals. Extreme risk is the potential for eye irritation. Based on the root causes of work accidents that have been observed using the Hazard and Operability method, recommendations were obtained using the Fault Tree Analysis method in the form of improving work attitudes, including creating a work health and safety training schedule, developing worksheets, and implementing attractive poster displays (visual displays). Recommendations for improving work environment conditions are recommended, especially managing puddles and chemical spills and optimizing machine maintenance.

Abstract

An expert system for diagnosing dengue fever (DF) using a comparison of the Naive Bayes and Dempster Shafer methods aims to provide a solution to assist medical personnel in diagnosing this disease. Dengue fever is a disease caused by the dengue virus infection through the bite of Aedes mosquitoes. It has symptoms similar to other diseases and requires rapid and accurate diagnosis. The Naive Bayes and Dempster Shafer methods were chosen because both have different approaches to handling uncertainty and imprecise information. The Naive Bayes method is a probability-based classification that assumes independence between features. Meanwhile, Dempster Shafer is an approach to handling uncertainty. Therefore, comparing Naive Bayes and Dempster Shafer allows for classification with structured and fairly straightforward data, offering accuracy and flexibility in dealing with uncertainty. Applying this expert system with these methods can help in the faster and more accurate diagnosis of DF and provide better recommendations in situations where the available data is incomplete or ambiguous. From the test data calculations, the two methods show that the Naive Bayes method has a higher percentage value of 93%, while Dempster Shafer has 86%.

Abstract

This study presents an overview of Ki Hajar Dewantara's constructivism learning theory as interpreted through the system that gave rise to Tut Wuri Handayani. The system places students as the center of the learning process, while the role of the teacher is that of a guide who provides flexibility for children to develop their potential, creativity, talents, and interests according to their nature. Students are not entirely free to seek information and knowledge. Still, guidance from teachers and parents dramatically aids in identifying the nature and form of knowledge children require based on their developmental stage. This aligns with the constructivism learning theory, which suggests that teachers serve as facilitators, motivators, and communicators for their students. This study employs a qualitative approach, analyzing data from literature through an interpretive process to comprehend and provide context for the gathered qualitative data. This study will reveal how Ki Hajar Dewantara's constructivism learning theory compares to other systems. What is the relevance of Ki Hajar Dewantara's constructivism learning theory in the Merdeka Curriculum? The study's results lead to the following conclusions: First, the constructivism learning theory in Ki Hajar Dewantara's system emphasizes the importance of students' Independence in their thinking, the role of teachers as agents of change, the role of teachers as motivators, facilitators, and communicators for students, and the importance of Tut Wuri Handayani. Second, Tut Wuri Handayani illustrates Ki Hajar Dewantara's views on the Merdeka Curriculum through the roles of teachers and students in schools.
