There is a paradoxical condition which afflicts higher education institution. On the one hand, higher education institution has proven itself as an educational institution which generates several knowledgeable and great people for the interest of Indonesian society and global community. However, another side of university is considered being affected by serious problems in relation with corruption in the state. Lots of notorious corruptors have already corrupted trillions of rupiahs from the state’s assets whereas these corruptors are higher education institution graduates. Moreover, there are many higher education institution elites who deal with law enforcement officials because they are alleged of doing corruption. A number of educational subjects in higher education institution were arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) because of their findings which indicate the misuse of government funds. Not only has it been regarded to physical construction of the higher education institution, but also the procurement of goods and services. Due to this condition, time has come for universities to promote educational jihad for the sake of corruption eradication in higher education institution.

Abstract

After the death of the Prophet Muhammad, the burden of history was borne by Muslims for disputes that started from political issues. The successor to the leadership of the Prophet became the first problem and even became a prolonged problem. Starting from this political dispute, later it will spread to other issues, such as issues of theology and ideology, including the Shia-Sunni intersection which is also a continuation of political problems in the early phase of Islam. Meanwhile, multicultural Islamic education initiated by several Muslim scientists often only discusses the relationship between Islam and other religions. In fact, the problem of internal disputes among Muslims is equally important to be resolved. This study uses qualitative research methods with the type of case study research. The results of the study show the urgency of multicultural education in an effort to re-tighten (taqri@b) Muslims by adhering to the values of multicultural Islamic education. The values of Islamic education include ta'aruf (knowing each other), ta'awun (helping each other), tasamuh (tolerant), tawasuth (moderate), tawazun (harmony), al-'adl (justice) and zuhud. Keywords:  Multicultural Islamic Education, ukhuwah Islamiyah, Shia, Sunni.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the social construction of Tengger tribe community towards the values of Islamic education in the midst of local culture diversity. This study was done in Ngadas village, Bromo. The theoretical approach used in this article is Berger and Luckman's social construction theory, while the data collection techniques were observation, interview, and documentation. In the research findings, it is found that three entities of external elements become the attraction of the community, namely a) exemplary behavior of Islamic figures, b) contextual approach in understanding religious teaching by Islamic figures, and c) strategies and media for preaching namely socio-cultural-psychological strategy and socio-spiritual-magical strategy. Second, at the moment of objectification, local communities continuously interact with Islamic education values because they feel that Islamic values have been naturally institutionalized to the community needs. Meanwhile, at the moment of internalization, three typologies were found as a result of community self-identification of Islamic education values, namely a) normative-theological-conservative, b) sociological-pragmatic-calculative, and c) sociological-empirical-intuitive.Keywords:  Local wisdom, multicultural, Conservative, Pragmatic, Intuitive

Abstract

Culture is something that will affect the level of knowledge and includes a system of ideas or ideas contained in the human mind in everyday life, There are two things that affect humans in obtaining their culture, namely related to the biological adaptation environment and cultural adaptation. There is an interesting thing when culture is juxtaposed with religion. Culture itself has three values, namely the value of religion, art and solidarity related to taste and hinges on feelings, intuition, and imagination. Expressive culture is generally conservative in character (Sjahbana, 2003: 3).In this context, the food culture of the Bawean community of Telukjatidawang Village can be seen as a religious expression that can be observed sociologically and is the result of community construction. As a belief system, religion is manifested in social systems and behavior by its adherents in public life. Religion is related to human experience both as individuals and groups, so that every behavior he plays is always related to the belief system of the religious teachings he adheres to. Individual and social behavior is driven by internal forces based on the values of religious teachings that were previously internalized in the Bawean community of Telukjatidawang Village. Religion is something that is final, universal, eternal (parennial) and knows no change (absolute). While culture is particular, relative and temporary. Religion without culture can indeed develop as a personal religion, but without culture, religion as a collectivity will have no place (Darori, 2000: 11). Islam responds to local culture, there are traditions wherever and whenever, and is open to accepting local culture, customs or traditions as long as they do not conflict with the spirit of the Qur'an and Sunnah. Likewise with Islam that developed in Bawean society which is very thick with tradition and culture. Keywords:  Harmonization, Islam, Local Traditions
