Abstract

One of the reasons why students do not want to study Arabic is their difficulty in understanding Arabic texts. This study aims to know the quality of the texts in the Arabic language teaching book of the Ministry of Religious Affairs for the sixth grade of primary school in terms of educational, psychological, cultural and linguistic aspects in order to know the validity of the linguistic, spelling and syntax rules in the Arabic texts in this book. This study follows the descriptive approach, so this study begins with the process of reading, analyzing, then criticizing, and drawing conclusions. This study is a desk study. The study proved that the Arabic texts in the Arabic Language Teaching Book for the sixth grade of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in general are of good quality and valid from the educational, psychological and cultural point of view for Indonesians. This result is available after reading and analyzing the book by the researchers. However, in terms of the culture of the book, it combined the culture of Indonesian and Arabic, and this is good and does not detract from the quality of the texts of the book. As for the linguistic aspect, the movements and the writing of points are not written in some words, as well as some non-Arabic structures. Grammar rules in the book are not a problem. In conclusion, this book has a good general quality in terms of language, with a few errors in some situations. Keywords: Texts, education book, religious affairs

Abstract

This study examines illocutionary acts in Surah Luqman of the Quran. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive, with the Quran as the primary data source and relevant secondary sources. The analysis of illocutionary acts is conducted to understand the communicative purposes contained in the verses of Surah Luqman. The results of the study show the presence of various types of illocutionary acts in Surah Luqman. One type is assertive acts, which relate to statements of a neutral nature. An example of a verse containing an assertive act is verse 6, which warns about the dangers of idle talk that misleads people from the path of Allah. Additionally, other illocutionary acts found in Surah Luqman include directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative acts. Each type of illocutionary act has implications and implicit messages that are important to understand in the context of Quranic translation. This study contributes to understanding the meanings and messages in Surah Luqman and illustrates the various illocutionary acts contained in the surah. This research can serve as a basis for further studies on Quranic pragmatics and contextual understanding in interpreting the verses of the holy Islamic scripture.

Abstract

Language functions as a tool for communication between humans, allowing them to express their thoughts and intentions. Language also evolves due to interactions between neighboring languages, and this is true for Arabic as well. The evolution of Arabic includes the incorporation of new vocabulary through the process of borrowing, which is often referred to as Arabization. Therefore, this study explores Arabization with the aim of identifying the forms of Arabization and the languages from which the borrowed words originate. This research focuses particularly on newspapers, as they play a significant role in introducing new vocabulary through their reporting. News about war and political conflicts frequently captures global attention, especially regarding the conflicts in the Middle East. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach. The primary data sources are three online newspapers from the Middle East: As-Syarq (Qatar), Al-Ittihad (UAE), and SabaNet (Yemen). The findings indicate that Arabization occurs through several methods, including Iqtibas Al-Lafdzi (literal borrowing), translation, and derivation. A total of 54 instances of Arabization using the Iqtibas Al-Lafdzi method and 6 instances using translation were identified in the war and political reporting of the three newspapers (As-Syarq, Al-Ittihad, and SabaNet) between November 1–10, 2023. The study found nine source languages: Greek, Latin, English, Persian, French, Russian, Japanese, Hebrew, and Syriac.
