Abstract

High employee turnover (12% in 2023) at Fave Hotel Rungkut Surabaya necessitates a rigorous investigation into retention determinants. This study analyzes the influence of work pressure, pay satisfaction, and work life balance on turnover intention through the lens of Social Exchange Theory. Employing a quantitative explanatory research approach, data were collected from a census of 50 employees using a 4-point forced choice Likert scale. Multiple linear regression analysis reveals that these factors simultaneously explain 66.7% of the variance in turnover intention ( = 0.667). Partially, work pressure emerged as the most dominant positive driver of exit intentions. Notably, the study identifies a "mobility anomaly" where pay satisfaction exerts a significant positive influence (  = 3.002,  = 0.004), suggesting that financial contentment validates employees' perceived market value and catalyzes career migration. Conversely, work life balance acts as a crucial protective anchor with a significant negative effect. These findings challenge traditional assumptions by demonstrating that in competitive hospitality markets, pay satisfaction can drive professional withdrawal. Management is advised to prioritize restorative psychological contracts through life balance initiatives and systematic workload management to mitigate turnover effectively.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of investment knowledge, motivation, and Islamic Financial Behavior on Islamic investment intention among Muslim university students in Medan City. Previous studies have shown inconsistent findings regarding the role of Islamic Financial Behavior in shaping investment intention. This study employed a quantitative approach using purposive sampling techniques involving 100 students. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 26. The findings indicate that investment knowledge and motivation positively and significantly influence Islamic investment intention, while Islamic Financial Behavior does not have a significant effect. Simultaneously, all independent variables significantly affect Islamic investment intention, with an adjusted R² value of 0.753. These findings strengthen the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in explaining Islamic investment intention through cognitive and motivational dimensions. Practically, the study emphasizes the importance of improving Islamic financial literacy and investment education programs to encourage student participation in Sharia-compliant investments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of perceived ease of use, financial literacy, level of trust, habitual behavior, and Islamic principles on students’ perceptions and preferences in using Sharia-based e-payment at Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU). The study is motivated by the high level of e-payment usage among students, which is not fully accompanied by adequate financial literacy and understanding of Sharia principles. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method, and the data were analyzed through multiple linear regression using two models: perception and preference. The sample size was 97 respondents, the sampling technique used was random sampling, with the sample size determined using the Slovin formula. The results indicate that all independent variables have a positive and significant effect on both perception and preference. Perceived ease of use is the most dominant variable in shaping perception (β = 0.282; sig. 0.001), while Islamic principles are the most dominant in shaping preference (β = 0.268; sig. 0.003). These findings suggest that students’ perceptions are primarily influenced by technical factors, whereas preferences are more strongly shaped by religious values and habitual usage. Therefore, strengthening digital financial literacy and understanding of Sharia principles is essential to promote more responsible and value-based use of e-payment.
